Story
This little pretty chocolate dappled girl is called Maizie and goodness what a cracker jack she is.  Don’t for minute let those green eyes and chocolate marbled coat fool you to think she is gentle or easy.  She is the CEO of dogs and will run the show at your house if given the chance.  Maizie is 30 pounds and 9 months old.  She is a breed mix of Dachshund and Basset Hound we are told.  Her pics make her look big but she is a “tiny but mighty” little girl.  Mazie is not a fan of any other female dogs in her life or around her.  We don’t know where that came from but the dislike is there so we say…don’t ignore the warning.  She is great with big male dogs, not good with other small dogs or cats, but loves people deeply and wants to be around them.  She needs a fenced yard because she is a runner as most Dachshunds can be and she needs to be able to run and play and get her energy out daily.  Older children would be better for her and she is crate trained, 90% housebroken and she adores going for walks; a very good girl on a leash we can say.  She is beautiful but a “tad” bit complicated, which is why we have outlined the Likes and Dislikes of this girl to a TEE!  We want the right and perfect home and there are lots out there that can give her that.  Tiny but Mighty little Maizie is ready for a home NOW!  Please email us at Critter Cavalry Rescue : ccrnewengland@gmail.com  Tell us where you live when you email asking for information and an application. PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.January 22, 2025, 9:20 pm

This charming little guy and his three sons (Luke, Wallace and Gromit) came to us all the way from rural Alabama to find forever homes of their own. Clement is a sweet and friendly fella who gets along great with other dogs.  He may need some patience to help him adapt to a new home, but for all that unconditional love you'll get in return, it will be worth the effort. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet.Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSPONSOR ME! Help Save Lives!    Make a tax-deductible donation today and help save a life. Please contact Nancy Anderson (nancya@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.sweet elongated girl seeking fresh start and love! RISE NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:  Rise      Best Guess for Breed: Dachshund and terrier mix Best Guess for Age: 5 years as of December 2024       Gender:   Female Approximate Weight:   23 lbs Gets Along With: Rise does well with other dogs and needs to go to a home with a friendly resident dog. We haven't seen her with cats but she can be tested if you have them. We would be cautious placing Rise in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare shy dogs with their level of energy or noise.  Children would need to be supervised closely to not leave doors open and should never walk the dog without an adult holding the leash.  We would be happy to discuss this more in depth with any applicant. Currently Living At: Will be at Lucky Dog's South Carolina rescue campus for heartworm treatment before heading to the DC area Special Adoption Considerations: Rise is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs.  All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care.  After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.  We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left! Additionally, Rise was rescued off the streets of Puerto Rico and hasn't seen enough of the world yet. She is shy and needs go to a home with a friendly, welcoming dog. Rise is Looking For: Her forever family! She was very relieved to be rescued off the streets in Puerto Rico and now just wants her very own home. But she needs extra patient and loving adopters who understand she hasn't seen enough of the world, and many things are scary. She needs new experiences in new places at her pace. A welcoming resident dog will show her how to dog, and training will help her build her braves as well! And in exchange, she promises all the love in her little body, all the adoring gazes and kisses she's stockpiling in the shelter, and loyal companionship for all her days. What do you say? Can you see her trotting along on her little legs by your side? What My Foster Says About Me: We will update this once she has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with her foster Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left! Moonshine is Looking For: his very own family! At two years old, Moonshine’s still quite energetic and playful, enjoying games of fetch, tug-of-war, and exploring his surroundings. He has a curious nature, often poking his nose into everything to investigate new scents and objects. Dachshunds love to burrow under the covers and climb into baskets full of laundry. Don't let Moonshine's short legs fool you. Dachshunds are active and need regular exercise to stay healthy and happy. Daily walks, playtime, and mental stimulation are essential to keep him engaged and content. Socialization with different people, dogs, and environments will help Moonshine grow into a well-rounded and confident adult dog. Dachshunds can be quite vocal, using their barks to communicate excitement, alertness, or the presence of something interesting. For people living in apartments we can talk more about ways to address excessive barking. Positive reinforcement, consistency, and patience are key in training any dog. What My Foster Says About Me: We will update as soon as Moonshine arrives and spends some time with a foster. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. Story
Hi, it’s nice to meet you, I’m LeBron, a 3 year old, 17 lb., dachshund/chi mix. I don’t remember much about my former life, but I’m glad to be with A Home of Their Own Animal Rescue to find my forever home. I’m a little shy around new people given all the changes I’ve been through. I’ve been in a couple of foster homes before, and I discovered that I feel more comfortable around adults and older children. Younger children scare me with their quick, sometimes unpredictable movements. I am looking for a forever home that is quiet, patient and loving. I am housetrained so that's a plus! I like crates because they feel so cozy and safe. That said, I may need some coaxing in the beginning to get out of my crate and into the world.  Like LeBron James, I jump up high in the sky and am very high energy so will do best in a home with people that are active and can give me plenty of exercise and enrichment! That's why my foster dad named me LeBron! Also, a home with people that are home often would be nice too because I tend to get attached to my people. They make me feel safe! I'm still working on being protective of my people. I try to remember that no one is going to take them from me but it's definitely a work in progress. I know I will grow used to being around new faces; I just need people that will be patient with me so I can learn to feel safe and secure in this world. Since I tend to guard my person/people, I would do best in a single family home or townhouse. Apartment living isn't for me because of all the people coming and going.  I’m a sensitive guy with a big heart once I trust someone. Are you that forever trustworthy person I’m looking for?! ##2039331##

Story
The sweetest dog we've ever met. So gentle and loves to cuddle. Favorite things: belly rubs, scratches and walks. She loves to play with her stuffed animals and loves chase with our teens. She doesn't nip and is potty trained. She hasn't touched our belongings but likes to explore the house. She probably would do best as the only dog in the family or with a young or smaller dog. Come meet her! She's so cute and loving Visit https://www.wtarescue.com/adoption-process-2 to request a meet and greet and learn more about our adoption process! Have questions? Email us at foster.adopt@wtarescue.com! Mandatory in person transfer date: February 8th at the Petsmart in Tysons Corner between 10:00 AM-11:00 AM.
