Please read the pet description IN IT'S ENTIRETY before applying.  Thank you for your cooperation. Video link:   https://youtube.com/shorts/uZGAjzBrh4Y?feature=share   FOR ADOPTION!   READY TO LEAVE ON OR AFTER February 4, 2025!  Taking applications NOW! Note:  Only those with a responsible dog ownership history and excellent vet reference need apply.   INSTRUCTIONS TO APPLY: PLEASE read profile thoroughly BEFORE applying: DOG APPLICATION LINK:    http://www.roadtorescuela.org/dog-application RESERVING A PUPPY:    If your application is approved you will be contacted by phone.   Specific puppies are only reserved with a deposit once the approved adopter is notified.   NAME:  Patter - female Intake date:   1/20/2025 Breed:  Dachshund/Poodle mix DOB:  11/28/2024 Intake weight:  1.14 pounds Current weight:   3.14 pounds Size potential:  ESTIMATE 10-15 pounds   Adoption fee and vetting:  $350, which comes with $50 spay/neuter REBATE coupon redeemable once puppy is spayed/neutered no later than 6 months of age; includes age-appropriate vaccinations (at least two, plus Bordetella); deworming; microchipped Good with other dogs:  yes Cats:  yes Health issues:  none found. Biography:    Pitter and Patter came to us as owner-surrenders via a rescue-friend.  Apparently, they are from an ‘oops’ litter and the woman is elderly and couldn’t find homes for them.  She is being assisted to get the parents spayed/neutered.  Pitter and Patter were very timid at first but they are really coming around now!  They are playful and fun.  We’ve protected them the entire time since they hadn’t had any vaccinations before arriving to us.   Once they get their second round, they’ll be ready to leave.  Remember, though, the vaccinations are not done!  They still need more!  If you’re interested in either one of these cuties, be sure to get your application in as they won’t last long!   VACCINATIONS and PROTECTING YOUR PUPPY! Your puppy has NOT been fully vaccinated!  While with us, your puppy has been completely protected the entire time.  Your puppy has not been outside of their protective puppy pen except to clean.  IF your puppy got two (or more) rounds of vaccinations before leaving, then your puppy was released to be with the other non-quarantined dogs.  It’s important to keep your puppy away from high-traffic stores or areas where there is a potential that there are unvaccinated dogs or areas where you know there were puppies that have had or have parvo.   Parvo is a silent killer and is everywhere... so just like you would a newborn human baby... protect your puppy.   Your puppy will require MORE vaccinations which will be discussed at the time of adoption.  YOU MUST FOLLOW-UP WITH YOUR VET TO GET YOUR PUPPY ON A SCHEDULE!  Parvo is everywhere and IT IS A KILLER OF PUPPIES!  You WILL be required to SIGN a contract that you agree to continue the puppy vaccinations until your puppy has been fully inoculated.  Be aware… we will follow-up! WHY SO MANY VACCINATIONS?  Most people don’t understand why a puppy needs multiple puppy vaccinations so some people don’t go beyond the first set.  This is a HUGE MISTAKE.  We’ll explain:  In the beginning, while nursing, the puppy receives ample immunity from their mother.  Once weaned, they are susceptible to dangerous viruses such as parvo, the puppy killer, and distemper… among other things.  At 6 weeks they should receive their first round of puppy vaccinations.  Why isn’t this enough?  Because you don’t know when the mother’s immunity is no longer effective and if they receive it while still with the mother’s immunity, it doesn’t do any good.  This is WHY they need to continue with boosters.  At some point one or more of those vaccinations will become their immunity.  Don’t risk your puppy’s life!  While some vets only do three sets, we recommend four sets.  If you’ve ever had a puppy die of parvo… it is something you will never ever forget.   (Keep in mind we are not veterinarians and cannot give advice, so don’t take our word for it… talk to your licensed veterinarian.)   PUPPIES! Keep in mind, puppies teeth just like human babies and have little sharp toenails. They will also have behaviors that require training. Puppies will cry, chew, bite, mouth, nip, bark, destroy, dig, scratch, etc. The puppy phase lasts about 18 months (sometimes longer), so be sure you ARE READY for the commitment! Don't even think about applying if you have any doubts about raising a puppy... and don't expect children to take care of the puppy... because they won't! This needs to be an adult decision and an adult commitment.   POTTY TRAINING:  A puppy can only hold their bladder for a short period of time based upon their age.  If the puppy is 2 months old, they can hold their bladder for 2 hours;  3 months/3 hours;  4 months/ 4 hours, etc., up to 6 months of age.   At about 6 months of age, this time frame stables out.  Puppies are a 10-15 year commitment (sometimes longer).  Please be sure you are prepared for the life of the puppy!  In conclusion, if your puppy is in a responsible home that provides daily structure, training and socialization with people and other pets, your puppy will grow to be a well-adjusted and wonderful part of your family for many years to come.   COMMITMENT:   Puppies are a 10-15 year commitment (sometimes longer).  Please be sure you are prepared for the life of the puppy!  In conclusion, if your puppy is in a responsible home that provides daily structure, training and socialization with people and other pets, your puppy will grow to be a well-adjusted and wonderful part of your family for many years to come.     SPAY/NEUTER REBATE PROGRAM:  Due to the age of this pet, he/she may not be spayed/neutered at the time of adoption.   If this is the case, you will receive a $50 rebate coupon which will entitle you to a rebate of $50 once your pet is spayed/neutered and valid ONLY IF DONE ON OR BEFORE 6 MONTHS OF AGE!  It is REQUIRED and part of our adoption contract that all unaltered pets be spayed/neutered no later than 6 months of age and we DO follow up!      **IMPORTANT NOTES** *We do adopt out of state provided the adopter is willing and able to travel to us once approved.  We do not ship or transport our animals and there is no exception to this rule. *All of our adoptable dogs are small, and they are never to be left outside alone, ever!  We only rehome our dogs to adopters that plan to have them as inside dogs and part of the family!   We do allow adopters with doggie doors, provided there is SECURE fencing.  There is no exception to this rule!   *NO SMALL CHILDREN!!  As with almost all the dogs at NR2R, young children or a very active household is not recommended.   Many of our dogs come to us BECAUSE of small children, thus we do not rehome our dogs to homes with babies or young children.  KEEP THIS IN MIND IF YOU HAVE VISITING GRANDCHILDREN AS WELL!  Even if the children are older, it would depend on the child AND the parent or parents.  *HOUSETRAINING:  We do NOT guarantee that any of our adoptable dogs are housetrained.   While most should be easily trained, keep in mind that they live in a rescue where they have access to the outdoors all day and are inside at night.  Even if they were surrendered to us as housetrained, it doesn’t mean they will automatically be housetrained in your home.  Housetraining them should be easy in the right home with time, patience, and consistency.  *We do not guarantee the age, health or temperament of any of the dogs we rehome.  Many of the dogs we take in come from animal control and rarely do we have histories and even when we do, many times the histories are inaccurate. *Only adopters with a responsible dog ownership history and excellent vet reference need apply.   If you bring this pet into your heart and home, you will receive in return many years of love, companionship, and loyalty.  That’s our guarantee.   Other notes:  This pet is available for adoption through Ninna’s Road to Rescue, Benton, La.  We are 501c3 non-profit organization.  Our mission is to rescue primarily small-breed dogs and to re-home them into RESPONSIBLE and CARING forever homes.    DOG APPLICATION LINK:   http://www.roadtorescuela.org/dog-application Time may be of the essence if you are looking to adopt a specific animal.  We do not reserve animals, unless and until we have approved your application, provided the animal is still available at the time we receive your application.  The first APPROVED application we receive will be considered.  We are NOT a first come, first serve rescue!! We adopt our rescues out to the RIGHT home, not just A home. Only responsible pet owners need apply. Applying to adopt does NOT commit you to the adoption NOR does it guarantee the adoption. CONTACT:  Our adoptable pets are updated regularly, but if you want to check the availability of a pet... OR still have questions AFTER reading this profile, message us via our Facebook page.   Please indicate the name when communicating with us. www.RoadtoRescueLA.org     “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”  ~ Gandhi Be responsible ~  Always spay/neuter, keep your dogs on heartworm prevention, vaccinate against disease... and if you bring a pet into your life, commit to that pet for life.  Blessings. Story
Please contact Jeff Tarpley (JEFFnTEXARKANA@aol.com) for more information about this pet.Wishbone and Wanda are the cutest little bonded pair out there. Wishbone is a red piebald Dachshund (or mix). He is about 3 years old and he weighs 15 pounds. Wanda is a female mix breed. She is about 5 years old and she weighs 14 pounds. Both are vaccinated, spayed/neutered, tested heartworm negative and on heartworm preventive. They are ready for adoption. Wishbone and Wanda found themselves at a shelter in central Arkansas after their owner passed away. Upon coming to our rescue it was immediately apparent they are a bonded pair. Wishbone was protective of Wanda in the shelter but very loving right away with his rescue family. Wanda was scared and withdrawn at the shelter but opened up and relaxed quickly once in a home. They have been such a fun pair. Wanda had skin issues and hair loss that made her at first look like an older dog, but with some meds, Bravecto and skin sensitive food she has filled out her weight and has grown/is growing hair in all the affected places. Wanda is turning out to be a pretty little gal with an expressive face. Wishbone, healthy from the first, likes to explore and walks better on a leash (Wanda tends to pull). Wishbone and Wanda kennel together at night. They’ve never had a crate or potty accident. Wanda and Wishbone are never far apart. Both are affectionate and love to be cuddlers and couch buddies with their people. They deserve a great home and have plenty to offer in return. Adoption fee is $300. Story
Happy is a female tan with white mix breed we were told dachshund/beagle but the short ears came from somewhere! She is 1.5 years old and she weighs about 26 pounds. Happy is spayed and vaccinated including rabies. Happy is heartworm negative and on monthly heartworm preventive. Happy is ready for adoption. Happy was surrendered to animal control because her family said she was being picked on by other dogs in the home and she was fearful. Happy does get very nervous about some things, like cars going by, but she has not been fearful nor aggressive with dogs. She is also fine with humans given a little warming up time. Happy’s favorite things are food, food, and treats. We think you can teach her anything with food and consistency. Happy enjoys playtime outside especially if you stay outside with her. She also enjoys leash walks but does better on a path or trail than along a busy street. Happy knows her name. She is crate trained and potty trained. We think Hqppy will thrive with a predictable routine and home life. She is not a girl to love change and adventure. Happy would do best with a fenced back yard or regular quiet leash walks. Adoption fee is $200.
