More about Myrtle:
Housebroken: Yes!
Crate trained: She has free-roamed when left alone, and did well when tested in a crate.
Leash walking: Dream on a leash, for the most part. She has begun reacting to passing dogs, but her behavior is manageable. She also doesn't enjoy strangers talking to her.

Cat social: Yes, she has done well in living with a confident cat in her foster home after a slow intro period.
Kid friendly: Not. a match
Myrtle likes:
- Rolling around in the grass
- Giving you kisses in the morning
- Sitting in your lap while you work
Myrtle is a hilariously sassy gal who loves nothing more than to be with her trusted people. Once Myrtle bonds with you, she wants to be by your side (or in your lap), giving sloppy kisses and cuddling. She is a typical Dachshund, who knows just how to make you laugh with her silly antics. She’s incredibly smart—give her a puzzle or a game, and she’ll master it instantly!
She’s quite agile, and is up for a walk, or car ride, whenever offered. She has shown some nervousness around strangers, especially when they are visiting her home space, and will need an adopter who can give her plenty of time, space, and treats when meeting new people. Once you’re in Club Myrtle, you’re in for life—but she’s selective about her guest list!
She would appreciate a calmer and quieter home where her person is with her more often than not, and she isn’t a great fit for elevator buildings, give her stranger danger. Myrtle has made great strides in learning to patiently wait for your return, but in the beginning she will take some time to settle. She has some medical needs that require medication and vet support, so her adopter should also be comfortable with handling her ongoing care.
Myrtle is currently taking medication for anxiety support, heart disease, and allergies. She will receive a hernia repair once heartworm negative. She has mammary masses and dental disease that are being regularly monitored. She is heartworm positive and on activity restriction. Myrtle has been undergoing treatment at Ellis Clinic at no charge to the adopter. Heartworm is a treatable disease that most dogs make a full recovery from. You can learn more about heartworm treatment on our resource page -https://www.onetail.org/heartworm/
Myrtle's adoption fee has been sponsored by a generous supporter, and she is eager to start the second half of her life in a furever home!
