Story
Meet  Miss   Marmalade ! An adorable 1-yr old, 10-pounfd Dachshund mix with a big personality. She does well in her crate and is house-trained as long as she's given sufficient outdoor breaks.   This sweet, cuddly girl has a knack for stealing hearts, especially when she snuggles up close to her favorite person. She thrives on attention and loves being the center of your world. Her playfulness leads her toward the tendency to pick up things like socks, shoes, or things within reach so she initailly needs monitoring until she learns.   Though she’s playful and full of energy,  Miss   Marmalade  does have a nervous side. Her territorial instincts can lead to growling, barking, or even lunging at strangers, visitors, or other dogs. She’s protective of her space and can get overwhelmed by sudden changes, making her best suited for someone who can guide her through training and socialization.   While  Miss   Marmalade  has shown some snippy behavior when nervous or startled, her loving nature shines through when she feels safe. She’s incredibly affectionate with her person and has endless potential to grow with the right care and patience.   If you’re a confident and understanding dog lover ready to help  Miss   Marmalade  work through her challenges, she’ll reward you with a lifetime of cuddles. loyalty, and melt your heart!   An Adoption Application for this dog can be found and submitted online. http://www.angelsrescue.org/adopt/adoption-forms  Please be sure to like our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/angelsrescue.  Email inquiry@angelsrescue.org  Note: Some apartments and neighborhoods have breed restrictions. Meet Sparky!  Sparky was part of the group of seniors that came to us several weeks ago after their human mom passed away and their human dad was forced to leave the family home - leaving no where for these poor babies to go. Since they technically would have been considered owner surrenders in a county with an extremely small shelter, they would have been euthanized immediately if a rescue didn’t step up to help them.  Sparky is about 12 years old with lots of life left to live! He’s obviously great with other dogs since he lived as part of a pack for most of his life, but he’s also adjusted quite nicely to being the King of the Castle in his foster home! He would love to join a quiet, dachshund loving home so that he can thoroughly enjoy his retirement!!  Does that sound like you? Meet Lucy! Lucy was part of the group of seniors that came to us in early July after their human mom passed away and their human dad was forced to leave the family home - leaving no where for these poor babies to go. Since they technically would have been considered owner surrenders in a county with an extremely small shelter, they would have been euthanized immediately if a rescue didn’t step up to help them.   We think Lucy 8-9 years old and when she first came to us she was the grumbly one. NOW she’s a total love bug or love-butterfly! She’s lost 5 pounds and though still might look thick on her pics, it’s lots of loose skin. She’s an under the cover sleeper and great with all dogs and even cats! Lucy is still a bit timid and seems more nervous around men. She will definitely need at least one other more confident dog in the home and at least one female adult human. An all female home would be absolutely perfect for her but she would probably do ok with a calm, gentle man as long as she also had her emotional support woman there too. Lucy also does require a fenced yard as she gains confidence on leash     Interested in adopting? Meet Boogey: A sweet three legged little boy who is as sweet as chocolate! Boogey was playing with his fur friends when they accidently knocked him down the steps causing him to break his leg so badly we had to have it amputated. He gets around really well with his 3 legs and adjusted nicely. Boogey is a very loving boy who smiles at you when you talk to him. November 26, 2024, 7:05 pm

Story
A SHY BUT FRIENDLY FELLOW:  Approx. 9 years old / Approx. 14 lbs.  Hi, I’m Anton!  I came to Mostly Mutts from a home that had a lot of dogs! We needed help when our dad had to go into Hospice care, so Mostly Mutts was able to take me, and quite a few more into their program. Now I’m ready to find a new home and family of my very own!  I needed a good dental cleaning which I have received thanks to a grant from The Grey Muzzle Organization!  I’m enjoying my time in a great foster home while I wait for my furever family to find me. • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I recently met dogs at Mostly Mutts and although I didn’t want to play with them, I also didn’t show any aggression.  I came in with other dogs that I’m a little bossy with though, so if you have a dog at home already, let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may fall on me.    • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  My previous owner described me as a shy but sweet fellow.  The volunteers knew to just go slowly with me and sure enough, I warmed up pretty quickly.  I got the reputation of being the ‘boss of the doxies’ around the shelter.  I have a confidence about me and an energetic spirit you are sure to love.  You are also sure to love my sweet, gentle demeanor, which I displayed during my shelter bath – being a real trooper during a pretty thorough ear cleaning.  I’m also quite crafty and reportedly can scale a fence, making me a potential escape artist, so please don’t leave me in the yard unattended until you know that I will not leave.  I’ve gotten into some things that don’t belong to me in my foster home, even showing that I know how to open doors.  I need to be watched closely and not left unattended in the home until I understand what is expected of me.  / My energy level is 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program and look forward to learning a lot with my trainer!  Check back soon to see what I've learned. / The crate is new to me, so I am working on that now - I get a bit anxious in there and have been having accidents while I’m in my crate.  My foster family is trying to make it a more comfortable/positive experience for me. At bedtime, I get to sleep with my fosters, and I love that!  I hope my new family will let me do this with them. /  I have good potty manners in my foster home while I am outside of my crate, however I potty in my crate.  My foster is working on this with me and is teaching me that my crate isn’t scary.  I also don’t like to potty outside when the grass is wet, so please be patient with me in this scenario.  Please continue to be consistent with me on a good schedule, so I can fully master my potty skills. • LIKES/DISLIKES:  As I warm up to you, I love to collect belly rubs.  I’m happiest with you - lying by your side on the couch or in bed!  Fuzzy blankets are the best, and I love to burrow into them for a nap.  I’ve not really shown interest in toys yet, but perhaps you can show me how much fun they can be. / I can’t think of any dislikes, though I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered.  I am currently taking an inexpensive anxiety medication to help me with the anxiety I experience when in my crate.  I also had a fatty mass removed and I’m healing up nicely from that now, and a good dental cleaning.  Since I'm a Dachshund, I naturally have a long back which is subject to injury, so please don't allow me to jump on and off furniture so we can keep me safe and healthy. I am looking for a great home with a loving family for life!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  December 27, 2024, 9:28 am

Story
SWEET, SHY & NEEDS PATIENCE:  Approx. 7 years old / Approx. 13 lbs. Hi, I’m Elsa!  I came to Mostly Mutts from a home that had a lot of dogs that weren’t properly socialized.  We needed help when our dad had to go into hospice care, so Mostly Mutts was able to take me, and quite a few other dogs into their program. Now I’m ready to find a new home and family of my own that understands my situation and will give me lots of time to settle into my new home.  I was adopted for 2 days but returned when I bit my mom over being picked up quickly when I just wasn’t ready for that, and I was so afraid. So, I need a family that will be patient with me and will give me lots of time to feel safe and secure in my new home.  I needed a good dental cleaning which I received thanks to a grant from The Grey Muzzle Organization! I just went into a wonderful foster home and will be working on my socialization.  Ask how that’s going.  • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I met some dogs recently at Mostly Mutts and although I didn’t want to play with them, I also didn’t show any aggression.  I came in with other dogs that I liked too, so if you have a dog at home already, let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids at Mostly Mutts, but due to my fearful nature, and bite risk, Mostly Mutts recommends calm teenagers only, so if you have kids like this, let’s meet. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I am very scared but also very sweet once you give me time to get comfortable with you.  Please don’t rush me, as I just wasn’t socialized properly in my previous home, so I need time to feel safe and comfortable with people.  Once comfortable, I seek out attention and am a friendly girl who is getting used to being loved.  I’m not used to being picked up, held and loved – but I am getting there with patience and not being rushed!  I’ve spent a good part of my life being a momma dog.  Now, I am looking forward to that being behind me and just being a loved family member! / My energy level is currently 3-5. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program and look forward to learning a lot with my trainer!  Check back soon to see what I've learned. / I am new to the crate. / I've been having some accidents on the shelter schedule, so please continue to be consistent with me on a good schedule, so I can master my potty skills. • LIKES/DISLIKES:  Once I know and trust you, I enjoy neck and head rubs, and – though I am not interested in toys, I bet you can show me how much fun they can be. / I don’t want to be rushed into a relationship as I need extra time.  I would not be happy in a home with a lot of commotion or too many people coming and going as I need a nice quiet home.  I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, and training once I feel at home. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed.  You’ll notice that my right pupil doesn’t contract properly.  It’s a congenital condition and I can see out of the eye with a little vision loss in that eye.  Since I'm a Dachshund, I naturally have a long back which is subject to injury, so please don't allow me to jump on and off furniture so we can keep me safe and healthy. I’m getting medicated baths twice a week for a little while to help with my skin and these can be done in my new home with patience.  (I’ve done well with these at MM with the bather who is kind and gentle with me and gives me time to get used to her.) I’ve started an anxiety medication to help me with the stress I’m feeling.   I am looking for a wonderful patient family to give me a living furever home!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  December 24, 2024, 8:26 am
