Story
Otto is a loving and loyal dog in need of a new home where he can thrive as the sole pet. Having grown up as an only dog, he has struggled to adjust to the recent addition of another animal in the household, and after nearly six months, it and it’s clear that this environment isn’t suited for him. Otto is fully potty trained and crate trained, and he proudly knows several tricks, showcasing his intelligence and eagerness to please. However, his biggest challenge lies in his discomfort with other animals and tendency to be vocal, making him the perfect candidate for a family that can offer him undivided attention and affection. Otto’s enthusiastic nature and need for a dedicated owner make him an ideal companion for someone looking to form a deep bond without the distractions of multiple pets.

Meet Boogey: A sweet three legged little boy who is as sweet as chocolate! Boogey was playing with his fur friends when they accidently knocked him down the steps causing him to break his leg so badly we had to have it amputated. He gets around really well with his 3 legs and adjusted nicely. Boogey is a very loving boy who smiles at you when you talk to him. November 26, 2024, 7:05 pm

Story
Meet Sparky!  Sparky was part of the group of seniors that came to us several weeks ago after their human mom passed away and their human dad was forced to leave the family home - leaving no where for these poor babies to go. Since they technically would have been considered owner surrenders in a county with an extremely small shelter, they would have been euthanized immediately if a rescue didn’t step up to help them.  Sparky is about 12 years old with lots of life left to live! He’s obviously great with other dogs since he lived as part of a pack for most of his life, but he’s also adjusted quite nicely to being the King of the Castle in his foster home! He would love to join a quiet, dachshund loving home so that he can thoroughly enjoy his retirement!!  Does that sound like you? Story
Meet Lucy! Lucy was part of the group of seniors that came to us in early July after their human mom passed away and their human dad was forced to leave the family home - leaving no where for these poor babies to go. Since they technically would have been considered owner surrenders in a county with an extremely small shelter, they would have been euthanized immediately if a rescue didn’t step up to help them.   We think Lucy 8-9 years old and when she first came to us she was the grumbly one. NOW she’s a total love bug or love-butterfly! She’s lost 5 pounds and though still might look thick on her pics, it’s lots of loose skin. She’s an under the cover sleeper and great with all dogs and even cats! Lucy is still a bit timid and seems more nervous around men. She will definitely need at least one other more confident dog in the home and at least one female adult human. An all female home would be absolutely perfect for her but she would probably do ok with a calm, gentle man as long as she also had her emotional support woman there too. Lucy also does require a fenced yard as she gains confidence on leash     Interested in adopting? Meet Orson !  How adorable is this  little guy?!?! Orson and his 3 brothers were part of the large group we took in from rural South Georgia the first week of December 2024. They were a bit shy at first but they are really blossoming into such sweet little boys! Oscar (brown w/ black on muzzle) is the only non-scruff of the group. Otto (blonde), Orson, and Ozzie all have the cutest little scruffy coats just like their mom. And all of the boys have stubby little dachshund legs with long bodies, just adding to their adorableness!  Interested in adopting? Email adrienne@rescuemega.org or fill out an adoption application on our website- www.rmgdogs.org PLEASE NOTE: RMG requires an adult dog in the home for ALL PUPPY ADOPTIONS. This is a STRICT requirement, no exceptions will be allowed  ##2248909##

Story
A SHY BUT FRIENDLY FELLOW:  Approx. 9 years old / Approx. 14 lbs.  Hi, I’m Anton!  I came to Mostly Mutts from a home that had a lot of dogs! We needed help when our dad had to go into Hospice care, so Mostly Mutts was able to take me, and quite a few more into their program. Now I’m ready to find a new home and family of my very own!  I needed a good dental cleaning which I have received thanks to a grant from The Grey Muzzle Organization! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I haven’t met other dogs at Mostly Mutts yet, but I came in with other dogs that I’m a little bossy with. If you have a dog at home already, let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may fall on me.     • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  My previous owner described me as a shy but sweet fellow.  The volunteers knew to just go slowly with me and sure enough, I warmed up pretty quickly.  I got the reputation of being the ‘boss of the doxies’ around the shelter.  I have a confidence about me and an energetic spirit you are sure to love.  You are also sure to love my sweet, gentle demeanor, which I displayed during my shelter bath – being a real trooper during a pretty thorough ear cleaning.  I’m also quite crafty and reportedly can scale a fence, making me a potential escape artist, so please don’t leave me in the yard unattended until you know that I will not leave.  I’ve gotten into some things that don’t belong to me in my foster home, even showing that I know how to open doors.  I need to be watched closely and not left unattended in the home until I understand what is expected of me.  / My energy level is 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program and look forward to learning a lot with my trainer!  Check back soon to see what I've learned. / The crate is new to me, so I am working on that now - I get a bit anxious in there and have been having accidents while I’m in my crate.  My foster family is trying to make it a more comfortable/positive experience for me. At bedtime, I get to sleep with my fosters, and I love that!  I hope my new family will let me do this with them. /  I have good potty manners in my foster home while I am outside of my crate, however I potty in my crate.  My foster is working on this with me and is teaching me that my crate isn’t scary.  I also don’t like to potty outside when the grass is wet, so please be patient with me in this scenario.  Please continue to be consistent with me on a good schedule, so I can fully master my potty skills. • LIKES/DISLIKES:  As I warm up to you, I love to collect belly rubs.  I’m happiest with you - lying by your side on the couch or in bed!  Fuzzy blankets are the best, and I love to burrow into them for a nap.  I’ve not really shown interest in toys yet, but perhaps you can show me how much fun they can be. / I can’t think of any dislikes, though I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered.  I am currently taking an inexpensive anxiety medication to help me with the anxiety I experience when in my crate.  I also had a fatty mass removed and I’m healing up nicely from that now, and a good dental cleaning.  Since I'm a Dachshund, I naturally have a long back which is subject to injury, so please don't allow me to jump on and off furniture so we can keep me safe and healthy. I am looking for a great home with a loving family for life!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  November 21, 2024, 6:31 am
