Story
Great family dog!!! Bear is a Dachshund Shepherd mix. He is very gentle around people and loves to play with other dogs. Bear is one of those big dogs with short legs that are so incredibly cute. He is medium in size weighing around thirty-five pounds. And the big news is he is housetrained. We can test him with cats if needed. He will need a fenced yard.To adopt this pet, please go to hsnwga.org, 'Adoption' then 'Application for Adoption', to complete an online application to be preapproved. Story
Come meet Brownie, he's as sweet as his name implies. This adorable Dachshund mix, is new to us and a bit shy. He's settling in and opening up to the volunteers, enjoying their pats and attention. Playtime is a favorite time for him, loves the other dogs in his play group. Cats we aren't sure of, but easy for us to check. Brownie is housetrained and ready to move in with his new family! A home with a fenced yard is always a plus. Great for exploring, playtime and just "chillin out".To adopt this pet, please go to hsnwga.org, 'Adoption' then 'Application for Adoption', to complete an online application to be preapproved. Story
Meet Boogey: A sweet three legged little boy who is as sweet as chocolate! Boogey was playing with his fur friends when they accidently knocked him down the steps causing him to break his leg so badly we had to have it amputated. He gets around really well with his 3 legs and adjusted nicely. Boogey is a very loving boy who smiles at you when you talk to him. November 26, 2024, 7:05 pm

Story
Cali is a 1-year-old Dachshund mix with a heart full of love and a story that will touch your heart. This sweet girl was found on a cold December night by a kind young couple who took her in and kept her safe for the night. They reached out to us for help, and we held onto Cali while we searched for her family. Sadly, no one came forward to claim her. Now, we're dedicated to finding Cali the perfect forever home—a place where she will be cherished and cared for, making up for the neglect she experienced in her past. Cali deserves a loving family who will give her the warmth and affection she's been missing. Cali is a gentle and affectionate pup who loves to cuddle and play. She's ready to bring joy and companionship to a new family. If you're looking for a loyal and loving companion, Cali might be the perfect match for you.

Story
A SHY BUT FRIENDLY FELLOW:  Approx. 9 years old / Approx. 14 lbs.  Hi, I’m Anton!  I came to Mostly Mutts from a home that had a lot of dogs! We needed help when our dad had to go into Hospice care, so Mostly Mutts was able to take me, and quite a few more into their program. Now I’m ready to find a new home and family of my very own!  I needed a good dental cleaning which I have received thanks to a grant from The Grey Muzzle Organization!  I’m enjoying my time in a great foster home while I wait for my furever family to find me. • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I recently met dogs at Mostly Mutts and although I didn’t want to play with them, I also didn’t show any aggression.  I came in with other dogs that I’m a little bossy with though, so if you have a dog at home already, let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may fall on me.    • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  My previous owner described me as a shy but sweet fellow.  The volunteers knew to just go slowly with me and sure enough, I warmed up pretty quickly.  I got the reputation of being the ‘boss of the doxies’ around the shelter.  I have a confidence about me and an energetic spirit you are sure to love.  You are also sure to love my sweet, gentle demeanor, which I displayed during my shelter bath – being a real trooper during a pretty thorough ear cleaning.  I’m also quite crafty and reportedly can scale a fence, making me a potential escape artist, so please don’t leave me in the yard unattended until you know that I will not leave.  I’ve gotten into some things that don’t belong to me in my foster home, even showing that I know how to open doors.  I need to be watched closely and not left unattended in the home until I understand what is expected of me.  / My energy level is 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program and look forward to learning a lot with my trainer!  Check back soon to see what I've learned. / The crate is new to me, so I am working on that now - I get a bit anxious in there and have been having accidents while I’m in my crate.  My foster family is trying to make it a more comfortable/positive experience for me. At bedtime, I get to sleep with my fosters, and I love that!  I hope my new family will let me do this with them. /  I have good potty manners in my foster home while I am outside of my crate, however I potty in my crate.  My foster is working on this with me and is teaching me that my crate isn’t scary.  I also don’t like to potty outside when the grass is wet, so please be patient with me in this scenario.  Please continue to be consistent with me on a good schedule, so I can fully master my potty skills. • LIKES/DISLIKES:  As I warm up to you, I love to collect belly rubs.  I’m happiest with you - lying by your side on the couch or in bed!  Fuzzy blankets are the best, and I love to burrow into them for a nap.  I’ve not really shown interest in toys yet, but perhaps you can show me how much fun they can be. / I can’t think of any dislikes, though I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered.  I am currently taking an inexpensive anxiety medication to help me with the anxiety I experience when in my crate.  I also had a fatty mass removed and I’m healing up nicely from that now, and a good dental cleaning.  Since I'm a Dachshund, I naturally have a long back which is subject to injury, so please don't allow me to jump on and off furniture so we can keep me safe and healthy. I am looking for a great home with a loving family for life!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  December 27, 2024, 9:28 am
