Story
Linus is sweet but old dog. He loves cuddling but sleeps most of time. Our house has been hit with both hurricanes and we have been moved several different times which Linus does not do well. His hearing and eyesight is getting bad but doesn't affect him. I recently have taken on a director position at our school where I work and I am hardly home. Class we are constantly trying to work on our house. Linus needs to be able to have someone who can take him to the bathroom frequently. As he gets older it's harder for him to hold his bladder all day. We also get home very late so we don't have time to go on walks or play with him. I have considered taking him to the humane society but would rather find someone who would love him.

Story
Meet Bridget! This sweet and sassy Chihuahua/Dachshund mix is 2 years and 9 months young and 23 pounds of pure fun. With her gorgeous tan-and-black coat and her big puppy-dog eyes, Bridget is here to steal hearts and snack treats. She is playful, loves her hard plastic chew toys and is always ready for a game of fetch or a good chew session. She is smart and already knows the commands to come, go to her kennel and is eager to learn more commands if snacks are involved. Spayed last year, no bite history and fully vaccinated (including a microchip implant for extra peace of mind), Bridget's medical record is as spotless as her shiny coat. For the past year Bridget was the loving companion of my independent living elderly mother. Recent health concerns have necessitated she live FT in a nursing home and I travel frequently for work. Bridget is perfect for someone looking for a playful, loving, and well-mannered companion. Video of Bridget: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/3gRi54A_lQM

Story
GetALong Dachshund Rescue is pleased to introduce Oliver. Oliver is a small little fellow weighing only 11 pounds and is about 9 years old. Oliver is a talker - he will let you know when he’s happy or when he’s unhappy with a grumble grumble. Oliver is a very submissive boy who is fearful of dogs who are much larger than he is and will not be adopted to a home with dogs who are over 20 pounds and male. He does well with adult female dogs of his own size or slightly larger who are not overly rambunctious as he finds this behaviour overwhelming. Sweet Oliver is slowly coming out of his shell after coming to us from an unknown previous life. He is learning to play fetch and loves chewy bones. Oliver is shy and reluctant. It takes him time to warm up and be comfortable but once he does, he is a total sweetheart who will be your best friend who will never leave your side. It seems to us that Oliver is just learning how to be a dog and is just starting to come into his own. Oliver would like a home with a female who is home most of the time He will slowly warm up to a man, but much prefers to be with a female. He should not be in a home with children under 15 and any children in the home must be calm and gentle. Oliver must be able to sleep in the big bed with his people. He will cry and bark if he cannot see you. Oliver has significant separation anxiety. He is terrified of being abandoned yet again and will follow his foster mom in Alabama from room to room. His foster mom says that Oliver is her favourite kind of dog - a velcro dog! He needs a calm, quiet environment with lots of structure so he can feel confident and secure. Oliver is working on his leash training and house training . He is crate trained. Oliver’s house training is a work in progress. He is doing much better than when he came into rescue but he will need his new home to be patient and understand that he may have accidents. He needs to be on a very clear schedule or he will have accidents and h is accidents may increase if he is feeling anxious. All rescue dogs go thru a period of adjustment so understanding and patience is important. Oliver does have a significant heart murmur but does not yet need any medication. We do have him on some wonderful supplements to help keep him happy and healthy. He does have some dental disease and his forever home will need to have a consultation with a vet regarding the necessity of any procedures. Oliver is the sweetest of boys who needs a home that will be kind and gentle with him . If you are looking for a cuddle bug that will think his world revolves around you, Oliver is the boy for you! Apply to adopt Oliver today!
