Story
GetALong Dachshund Rescue is pleased to introduce beautiful Sadie , an 8 year old small standard girl who weighs 21 pounds. Sadie gets along with other dogs however she can be very protective of possessions that she considers hers, especially her lambchop stuffy that she treasures. She loves her lambchop so much that she will walk around with it and rarely leaves it alone. Sadie should not be in a home with cats as she has a high prey drive. Sadie would do well with children 10 years of age and older. Sadie is a sweet girl who is looking for a forever home that will let her sleep in the big bed every night. She loves exploring and needs a home with a fenced yard . Like many dachshunds, Sadie is a barker and will bark at the door and movements that catch her attention. Sadie will whine or bark for a short time when left alone but she does settle down in time. She appears to have some anxiety and will pace. We believe as she becomes feeling secure this should lessen. Sadie does well in the car and is leash trained. This lovely girl is 80% housetrained but sometimes she does get distracted when she goes outside at potty time and is too busy sniffing to go so she should be monitored. Like all dogs, she will need to be confident in her environment to have good potty habits. All rescue dogs go thru a period of adjustment so understanding and patience is important. Sadie will use potty pads in the house. Sadie is an exceptionally pretty girl who is dilute chocolate/ blue mix and has some mild alopecia which is common for dilute dachshunds. In some cases a good diet with healthy oils and high quality food can assist with this. Beautiful Sadie is ready for a home. Apply to adopt her today!

Story
Bear is a 1-year-old Dachshund/Lab mix whose owner recently passed away. When no family was able to take Bear and another dog in, they ended up at a local shelter together where they were both petrified. Bear was kind of jerk, but with a little time he turned into a very sweet and affectionate boy. His owner's family said that he was good with kids of all ages. He is also good with other dogs. He can get a little mouthy when he gets worked up or super excited, but just puppy stuff mostly. He likes toys and getting snuggles. He sleeps in bed with his foster mom and other foster pups at night. He's a fun smaller guy with lots to offer a new home!Visit us at the Gainesville Petsmart on Archer Rd Saturdays 11 am to 5 pm and Sundays Noon to 5 pm. Story
Penny is 15 years old, 9.4 lbs. She loves her toys and to play ball. You can throw a small racquet ball anywhere and she runs and retrieves it wanting to play more. She sleeps or lays around most of the time as she is in her senior years. She loves and needs attention and someone to care, play and just snuggle her. She is good with adults and has always been good with children but at her age now I would prefer she just be with a kind, loving and supportive adult. Kids tend to startle her just a bit when grabbed from behind. She is very loving and friendly. She is house broken and leash trained. She is super darling and loves opening her doggie presents at Christmas.

Story
Hey there, I’m Harry, and I’m a total daddy’s boy! My favorite thing is hanging out with my person, especially if you’re someone who enjoys having a loyal sidekick by your side. Whether we’re relaxing on the couch, exploring the backyard, or just chilling, I’ll be your steadfast buddy.   I’m an outdoor enthusiast. I’m not big on leashes (they’re just not my thing!), so a fenced yard would be good for me. I love being outside!   I use pee pads since I have Cushing’s. It’s no big deal, really—it just means I pee more often than your average pup. With some regular vet care and a consistent routine, managing my Cushing’s is totally doable.   I’m independent but affectionate, and I’ll come looking for some love when I’m in the mood.  If you’re looking for a fun-loving, outdoorsy pup with a dash of independence and a lot of heart, I might be the perfect match for you.     Note About Cushing’s   Cushing’s disease in dogs happens when there’s an overproduction of cortisol. While it might sound scary, it’s manageable with proper care. I take medication to help regulate things. You might notice I drink more water and need to pee more often—that’s just part of who I am, and as long as we stick to my routine, I’m good to go.   ----- Harry is part of a bonded pair. Learn more about his sister Carly here. If you know that I am your forever pup, please fill out an adoption application at https://daretorescue.org/adoption-application. Don't forget to put my NAME on your application! If you cannot adopt me but would like to help DARE pay for my care before I am adopted by my forever family, donate online at https://daretorescue.org/donation or send a check made payable to DARE to:DAREPO Box 21161Tampa, FL 32210     Even if you do not see a dog that matches what you're looking for, you may fill out a no obligation application at https://daretorescue.org/adoption-application and we will work to find a match for you. We receive dogs into foster care frequently, so it is impossible to have every available or soon-to-be-available dog on the website.December 30, 2024, 12:20 pm

Story
Hi, I’m Carly, and once I get to know you, I’m full of playful energy! At first, I can be a little shy and timid, but my personality is really starting to shine. I love being outside—especially when I can run fast and chase squirrels. I even get the zoomies now and then! I’m still learning how to walk on a leash, so I’d do best in a home with a fenced yard where I can safely explore. I have some extra skin that needs to be kept clean to prevent irritation, but it’s no big deal—I don’t mind as long as it keeps me comfy. I’m not super vocal about needing to go outside, so I’ll need someone who can keep a close eye on me. But once you get me outside, I’m ready for fun! If you’re looking for a sweet, playful girl who loves the outdoors, I’m here waiting for my forever home!   Hi there, I’m Carly, and let me tell you—I’m a little bundle of love and fun!    One of my favorite things in the whole world is being outside. Whether I’m running fast, chasing squirrels, or just exploring my fenced yard, I’m happiest when I’ve got some sunshine and fresh air. Sometimes I even get the zoomies—just try to keep up! I’m also a bit of a digger, so a yard where I can safely channel my inner archaeologist would be amazing.   And guess what? I’m a total sweetheart when it comes to other dogs. I love snuggling up with my foster brother Harry (I even wash his ears and face!) or sharing a cozy bed with my furry friends.   If you’re looking for a sweet, playful companion who adores the outdoors and will keep you smiling with her unique charm, I might just be the one for you. ---------- Carly is part of a bonded pair.
