Story
Athena is the bestest girl. She is a 1.5 year old "dacshund mix" and UTD on her shots and spayed. The vet said she is around 30ish pounds but she is a low rider! She is a very excited puppy when she meets other dogs and is very beta. She loves all animals, dogs, cat, kids, adults you name it. She is potty and kennel trained. It takes her a day or two in order to get on a routine. She sleeps through the night in her kennel but if she needs for any reason to go out she will let you know with a soft bark. She does really good on a leash. She is excited at first but loves walks and car rides! She even stays by when she is off leash but if there is a squirrel or something she may try to say hello!! (Elssa) Athena will be available for adoption at PetSmart in Castle Rock from 11-3 this Saturday 1/18. ##1865159##

Story
Meet Ms. Fluffernoodle, a shy but oh-so-sweet pup looking for a patient and loving home! She may take a little time to feel safe, but once she does, her affectionate side shines through. With gentle encouragement, she’ll go from cautious to cuddly, and before you know it, she’ll be your loyal, loving shadow. Because she can be a bit sensitive, Ms. Fluffernoodle would do best in a home with older kids who can give her the time and space she needs to settle in. If you’re looking for a gentle, loving companion who just needs a little patience to blossom, Ms. Fluffernoodle might be the perfect match. What I Need In a Home:* Older children recommended

Story
Meet Cherry Anne, a sweet senior Dachshund looking for her forever home! She’s a cuddly, loving girl who absolutely thrives on affection. This little one has lived through a lot—she may have had a broken jaw at some point, but that hasn’t dampened her spirit. Cherry Anne spent her time in a tiny camper with 15 other animals, so she’s used to being around both dogs and cats. She gets along well with them and has a special bond with her best buddy, Mr. Max the Beagle. If you’re looking for a snuggly, gentle companion who’s always up for some cozy time on the couch, Cherry Anne might be the perfect fit for you!   Apply online at www.lolasrescue.com ##2288499##

Story
This pup was rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas. They were born in a neighborhood drain and were rescued with their mom Pamela. They can go home on 1/25! Meet and greets are by appointment only.  An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events! We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time.  When we do, it will be updated here.  This is all the information we have currently. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above.  Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. Dogs adopted with our rescue come with FREE training from #GoodPup to help you build strong bonds from the start! If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free Pet insurance.  We are not affiliated with Pet First pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect).  Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico.  While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.   More questions?  Read our FAQs here: https://4p4l.org/faqs/  Breed labels are a "best guess" by a shelter veterinarian and cannot be guaranteed.  A new study has concluded that (in layman's terms), breed assumption is NOT indicative of behavior in mixed breed dogs.  Therefore, if a dog looks presumably to be a German Shepherd breed, one cannot assume the dog will have a high prey drive.  From the study: "Although many physical traits were associated with breeds, behavior was much more variable among individual dogs. In general, physical trait heritability was a greater predictor of breed but was not necessarily a predictor of breed ancestry in mutts. Among behavioral traits, biddability—how well dogs respond to human direction—was the most heritable by breed but varied significantly among individual dogs. Thus, dog breed is generally a poor predictor of individual behavior and should not be used to inform decisions relating to selection of a pet dog" - https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.abk0639 ##2267546##

Story
From Past Foster: She is a sweet, timid low rider girl who has been such a great mommy to her 8 puppies. She needs a little time to get used to new people, but she has shown zero aggression with us handling her pups. She has also been a perfect girl with potty training, and she lets herself outside with the doggy door. She enjoys some time away from her puppies and walks nicely on a loose leash. She loves all of the other dogs she has met, big and small, and would do well with a doggy friend or as an only pet. I expect she would be fine around a cat as well. She loves to eat and still needs to gain some weight after nursing all of those babies. She is very quiet and only whines if she wants to get out of the puppy pen to join her humans. She prefers to sleep on our bedroom floor, but can be crated if necessary. She is not destructive and has done well loose in the house. She is a wonderful dog who deserves a loving forever home. Pamela was rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas. She has tested positive for Heartworm. Treatment is covered at one the the rescue's partner vets. Meet and greets are by appointment only.  An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events!
