Story
Cooper is an 7-year-old Dachshund, Miniature Poodle, and Chihuahua mix with a big personality and a loyal heart. He loves walks, squeaky toys, and curling up on your lap or in a cozy corner. Cooper can be nervous and defensive at times. He has a history of growling or snapping when being handled roughly (for example, touching his paws, or a stranger putting on his harness) or at the vet. He's uncomfortable with children and needs an adult-only home. At the vet, he requires sedation and a muzzle due to fear. Cooper may bark or lunge at unfamiliar dogs but has learned to focus on his person with training and treats. He's house-trained, loves learning, and is very food-motivated. With a calm, experienced adopter who respects his boundaries, Cooper will show his gentle, affectionate side and become a devoted, loving companion who just wants a quiet, safe place to belong. Cooper is being re-homed due to the birth of a child, as he requires a child-free environment.

Story
** If you are interested in adopting Bonnie, please fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ ** Meet Bonnie! Bonnie is an adorable 2 year old, 29 lb Schnauzer / Dachshund mix... Or something!! She is clearly a mixed breed, and whatever she is mixed with, she got the perfect characteristics of each breed! She is adorable and does have shorter little legs. Bonnie was found as a stray in Houston, TX, and ended up in a scary, high-kill shelter. But she’s safe now in a loving foster home, and she’s eagerly awaiting her transport to Colorado on 12/29. Just in time for the new year, Bonnie is ready for a fresh start and a forever home filled with love, snuggles, and endless belly rubs. From Bonnie's foster: "Bonnie is a very friendly, sweet girl! She's a total people pleaser and just wants love and affection. She seems to be house trained but did have an accident in her kennel overnight the first night. Settles in kennel with no problems and is very quiet. Hopefully she finds her voice with the right loving home. She walks well on leash, ignores other dogs but would like to chase the squirrels. She was kenneled at the shelter with another dog and is friendly with everyone." Bonnie is up to date on her vaccinations, has been fully vetted, is healthy, heartworm negative, and is spayed. Farfel's Rescue and our Texas rescue partners would love to see Bonnie in a home with an individual, family (older kids are preferred so there's no tail-pulling or awkward handling) or active retirees who have the time and love for a very loyal and sweet dog. We'd hate to see her left alone all day while her family works full-time outside of the home, as she is much too social for that type of arrangement. We'd like to place Bonnie in a home where she'll get consistent stimulation, exercise and love. A (virtual or in-person) positive reinforcement group training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence. Training is so important in the future behaviors of every dog. It's for this reason that we're unwilling to adopt to a family that doesn't make this loving choice. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of both in-person and virtual positive reinforcement / force- free trainers in your area. Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial. Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year. Applications are currently being accepted for our wonderful pup. If interested in this gorgeous, very cuddly/sweet and loving best friend, please fill out an application completely at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting from us, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.

Story
** If you are interested in adopting Charlie, please fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ ** Meet Charlie! Charlie is a super sweet, approximately 6–8 year old, 19 lb Dachshund/Beagle mix with the gentlest soul. The Texas shelter veterinarian estimated Charlie to be around 6 years old, though to us he appears he may be a bit older—so we believe he’s likely somewhere in the 6–8 year range. Charlie found himself in the shelter through no fault of his own after his beloved owner sadly passed away. Despite this major life change, Charlie has remained incredibly loving, calm, and friendly. At the shelter, he was gently handled by children ages 10–12 and was wonderfully calm and patient with them. He was also kenneled with two other dogs and has shown that he is very dog-friendly. Charlie is an easygoing, affectionate guy who would love nothing more than to be near his people and enjoy a cozy, predictable routine. With his sweet nature and gentle heart, Charlie will make a loyal, loving companion in his next forever home. Charlie is up to date on his vaccinations, has been fully vetted, is healthy, heartworm negative, and is neutered. Farfel's Rescue and our Texas rescue partners would love to see Charlie in a home with an individual, family (older kids are preferred so there's no tail-pulling or awkward handling) or active retirees who have the time and love for a very loyal and sweet dog. Story
Meet Paige… a spunky 5 year old who is looking for a family to love and snuggle with. Paige was surrendered to us by a woman after she had been abandoned at her house for a year by a sibling. She has been an outside dog and is learning to be housed trained. She has been introduced to numerous dogs at her foster family and has had no trouble adjusting. Her favorite activity is sleeping… either in your lap, or on the back of the couch. When it’s time to go outside… she spins in circles with excitement then quickly runs outside to explore and sniff everything. She has excellent recall and comes back quickly when called if not on a leash. She is happiest when her person is near. She will make an excellent companion to anyone looking for unconditional love.*Disclaimer: This pet is located in Texas. Once adoption is finalized the pet will be transported to the adopters location for an additional fee (currently $300).* The adoption fee helps to cover some of the cost of vetting the animal prior to adoption (spay/neuter, microchipping, and up to date vaccinations). Please fill out an adoption application to be considered for adoption. https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=ch2817&method=online_form_html&formid=41

Story
Meet Treat! He really is the sweetest treat — a happy, playful little guy who would delight any family this holiday season. Treat loves zooming around the yard, chasing tiny tennis balls, and happily playing with teeny stuffies. He follows his foster brother around and plays wonderfully with other dogs.Treat is still a bit unsure about leash walking, but he’s improving every day with gentle practice. Because of this, he’d especially love a home with a yard where he can run and play confidently. He’s a champion sleeper, happily curling up in his crate and snoozing through the night. He can entertain himself while his foster mom works from home, and when he’s done playing, he loves to snuggle up for attention, kisses, and affection.Treat is working hard on his potty training and is making great progress with a consistent routine and his own quiet space. With just a little continued training, he’ll be a wonderful companion for kids, cats, or other dogs. This honey pie has so much love to give. He’s looking for an adopter who’s ready for playtime, continued training, and patience as he perfects his skills. In return, he’ll give you endless joy, cuddles, and the sweetest companion in return. ##2600136##
