Story
Elf is a strong guy surviving complications from what should have been a standard neuter surgery. One of his testicles hadn’t descended so they had to do a more invasive neuter. When they opened him up he had a hernia and when they tried to repair it the fat that covers the intestines plopped out so they had to cut part of it out (he basically got a tummy tuck!). Elf is a sweet boy but is extremely shy at first so he needs lots of love to show him he's safe now and it's time for him to just be a dog. The first three weeks he took sanctuary in the bathroom and wouldn't come out, but with time and trust he came out and now follows his fosters around like a shadow! He loves other dogs and is submissive. He doesn't mind the crate but would rather be out and about with you. House trained! Elf is currently being fostered in San Antonio and looking for an adopter or committed foster to adopt to hop on the transport to Denver scheduled for January. ##2261398##

Story
Making the most of her second chance at life is friendly 4-year-old Maggie Mae. This 38-pound brown and white cutie, so sweet and so calm, presently prefers being in sight of her foster mom, looking to her for guidance and reassurance -- especially when she experienced snow for the first time! She loves snuggling and cuddling with her, showing her belly for belly rubs and being under the covers. In fact, one of her favorite pastimes is wrapping herself in blankets to sleep. Maggie Mae also loves playing and fetching toys, especially tug toys, chewing bones, taking rides in the car and going on walks, diligently working on her leash skills with each walk. Not only does she love the backyard and lying in the warmth of the sun, she takes great pleasure out of “patrolling” the perimeter. Motivated by food, toys and love, she currently knows “come,” “sit,” “stay” and “no,” and stares intently at her foster mom when she asks “out,” “eat,” “toy” and “walk,” indicating when she’s said the right one. Never crated and almost fully house-trained, Maggie Mae will thrive in an affectionate and active home, perhaps with a doggy playmate already there, that will complete her training, including her commands, and keep her in cuddles fur-ever.   Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure each pet finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours (please check your spam folder for our emails). If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $375. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.  Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking here. Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email dogs@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can't accept calls.PLEASE NOTE:  The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter.  Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets.  Here is some interesting info on breed identification:  https://arrcolorado.org/category/puppy-dog-tips/ Our adoption process is: 1. Fill out our Adoption Application online.  We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet. 2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting.  Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member! Story
Gator is a 10-11 month old Dachshund Mix weighing about 25lbs.   He will most likely stay about the size he is now give or take a couple pounds.  Gator is an awesome little dog.  He is adorably long with short legs, like a Dachshund, but he is a little more athletic than the average Dachshund, making him a perfect adventure buddy for someone as well.  Gator gets along great with other dogs and all people.  He has a very happy puppy personality and is very smart.  He learns quickly and is very trainable.  Gator gets a little nervous around new people at first, but it doesn't take more than a few minutes for him to warm up and become everybodys best friend.  He is just such a great dog!  Gator would love a home with another dog because he does have a good amount of playful energy and would love another four-legged family member to play with.  He would also be perfect for someone who wants a great mix of a snuggly lap dog and an active CO dog.  He is absolutely the best of all worlds. If you are interested in adopting Gator, please fill out our adoption application at brighterdaysdogrescue.com ##2249018##

Hello! My name is Scrappy . I am a young small dog ready for my forever home. I am sweet and loving with a happy spirit that's contagious. I like to go to parks and play outside. I am also happy cuddling up on the couch and relaxing. I am g ood with dogs, people, kids, and cats. I was hit by a car at some point and the injury was never fixed so I do have a limp when I walks. Story
** If you are interested in adopting Buster please fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ ** Meet Buster! Buster is a lovable little goofball with a big personality packed into his short, wiggly frame! Buster is a Dachshund mix, with maybe a touch of Red Heeler in him that gave him those silly ears and red/white spots. Buster is a small dog, weighing only 20 lbs and has the classic dachshund body—long and low to the ground—perfect for zooming around the yard or burrowing into comfy spots. Found as a stray in Roswell, NM, Buster didn’t have anyone come looking for him, but that’s their loss—because this boy is an absolute treasure! He’s friendly, silly, and loves meeting new people and dogs alike. He’s great with other dogs and would make a fantastic addition to a family with or without furry friends. Buster is ready for a fresh start, and he’s looking for a home where he can shower you with affection and share his fun-loving spirit. He’s a little guy with a big heart, and he’ll be sure to bring smiles and laughter into your life every day! We don't know if Buster has had any formal training. A (virtual or in-person) positive reinforcement group training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence for a young dog whose self-esteem will fly high while he masters his skills. Training is so important in the future behaviors of every dog. It's for this reason that we're unwilling to adopt to a family that doesn't make this loving choice. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of both in-person and virtual positive reinforcement / force- free trainers in your area. Our training requirement is to help every adoption be successful. Buster has been fully vetted and is up to date on his vaccines. He is not yet neutered, but Farfel's Rescue covers the full cost of his neuter, which is required to finalize his adoption. Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial. Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year. If you are interested in adopting from us, please be sure to fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ . **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting from us, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application.

Story
*** If you are interested in Tito, please fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ *** Meet Tito! Tito was picked up as a stray in Roswell, NM and brought into an overcrowded shelter. Tito has showed in his time at the shelter that he is so sweet, and great with people, other dogs, and even cats! He now has a ticket to Colorado for a fresh start! Tito is 2 years old, and a tiny 8 lbs. He is believed to be a Chiweenie; a Dachshnd / Chihuahua mix. Tito is SO silly and stinkin' adorable! With any rescue dog, moving from a shelter to a foster to an adoptive home can be very confusing. When an adopting family is sensitive to the challenges of change and acclimation for these dog's, the transition is far easier. A home with a very loving and nurturing family that understands that blossoming takes time would be perfect home for Tito. Socialization, pure love and belly rubs is a gift to a dog that is undergoing a life change. Given the time and space, these dogs shine. As any new rescue dog, Tito would benefit from attending a level 1 training class taught by one of our approved trainers. Farfel's Farm believes in only using positive reinforcement/force free training methods, because we have found that to be more effective. Dogs that do not get proper training and socialization have a much higher risk of developing behavioral problems, and there is a bonding that occurs through the training process that can't be duplicated. It will also teach behaviors that will enable him to go out into the world with excellent manners, and it will create a very respectful relationship between him and his owner. Tito is up to date on his vaccines, heartworm negative, and neutered. **PLEASE NOTE**. If you're truly interested in adopting Alfie please be sure to submit the Farfel's Rescue adoption application that can be found at the link above or at farfels.com. Rescue site applications such as Petfinder or Adoptapet don't provide enough information for us to determine a great match for this very deserving dog and therefore aren't useful. We're sorry, but in many circumstances, we're unable to get back to those those that don't submit a Farfel's adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue!
