Story
Rizzi Roo is ready for her new home! She is a Miniature Dachshund/Pug mix, 10 years old (birthday 12/10/2014), spayed, microchipped and weighs 17lbs. She is super friendly, will bark at newcomers at first but quickly settles down and wants to be petted and loved. She is an active girl who enjoys walks (great on leash) as well as a good nap. Rizzi loves to play with her stuffed toys, chomp on a chewy, lay in the sun, and snuggle. She is very affectionate and gentle and readily gives and receives love. She has had regular vet care, vaccines and preventatives, but does have a grade 1-2 heart murmur, though that doesn't stop her! She is a spunky little love bug who does great with women, but does not like men too much. She would be OK with men visiting but would be best living with women only. She’s a perfect companion for a senior! Rizzi would also be best as the only dog in the home as she would love to have all of your attention to herself! Her adoption fee is $200.If interested please contact Kristine at kekstrom0715@gmail.com or 916-673-8407.

Story
Alex is the cutest little sausage dog! Alex is estimated to be around 8 years old and is a sweet and sensitive guy looking for his fur-ever home. Alex is a mellow guy who enjoys the simple things in life like being cozy in front of the fireplace and eating tasty treats. He can be a little shy at first, but once he warms up, he never wants to leave your side. Alex currently weighs about 12lbs. Alex came to us from a local shelter after his previous owner surrendered him with his buddy Bruno. We were told it was due to issues with the landlord. At first, we thought the boys were a bonded pair, but as we got to know them more, they seemed like they would be okay being separated. Bruno has been adopted, so now it's Alex's turn! Alex is the more outgoing of the two but is the more anxious one. While his buddy learned to enjoy walks, Alex is more of a stay-at-home type of guy. He has learned to be more comfortable being outside, but would much rather be inside and cozy if given the choice. He loves to cuddle and give kisses but is also able to chill on the couch while you get work done. He would make a great companion for a senior person or couple. He would thrive in a quiet home with people who can be patient with him and help him gain more confidence. Alex has done well living with other dogs and seems like he would enjoy having a mellow doggie buddy or buddies. Alex has done well living with cats and is great about ignoring them and giving them space. Alex previously lived with kids, but we think he would probably do best in an adult-only home due to his anxious personality. Alex's previous owner said he and Bruno were pee pad trained, but he has been doing well transitioning to pottying outside. Alex likely would do best in a home with a yard, maybe with a dog door, to make the transition to a new routine easier. Alex is used to being crated when his foster mom is gone and he sleeps through the night in his dog bed. Alex is so ready for a fresh start with his fur-ever family. If you think that might be you, submit an adoption application today!   Alex's adoption fee is $250.   Apply to adopt here!  https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/   Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org. Story
Violet is the epitome of adorable! Violet is about 3 months old and she is a loving girl who can't wait to be your new best friend! She is such a cutie whose happiest place is in your lap. When she's not cuddling, you can find her wrestling with her foster brother. Violet currently weighs about 8lbs. We estimate she will be around 40-50lbs when fully grown. Violet came to us with her 4 siblings. They were part of a larger litter that was found as strays with their mom and brought to a local shelter. The rest of the litter and their mom went to other rescues, but 4 of the babies came to us and have been doing great ever since. We were told their mom looked like a dachshund mix, but we suspect these kiddos may have some miniature Staffordshire terrier in their mix based on their looks and size. Violet's brothers have been adopted, so now it's this sweet girl's turn! Violet is the smallest of the group and is the most playful of the group. Her favorite activities include chewing on her siblings, making new friends, and finding a lap to cuddle in. She is such a goofy girl who would thrive with a family that wants a little buddy to cuddle with and take on adventures. She is a smart cookie and has already learned how to sit. Her new family will need to be committed to continuing her training to help her be the best girl she can be. She would be a great candidate for group training classes. Violet loves other dogs and has tried her hardest to get the older dogs in her foster home to be her BFFs. She would love to have another young, playful buddy in her new home, but she also could do well as an only dog with lots of socializing with friends. Violet has done well living with dogs-savvy cats. Violet has done well with kids and could make a wonderful addition to a family with kids 7 years or older. Violet is still in the process of house and crate training. She has been good about using pee pads and going outside, but her new family should expect accidents and be patient while she is learning. Violet has done well sleeping through the night in a pen with her siblings. She has never been truly alone, so would do best with a family who can slowly acclimate her to being home alone. Violet is such an awesome girl and she is going to bring so much fun to her new family. If you think that might just be you, submit an adoption application today!   Violet's adoption fee is $350.   Apply to adopt here!  https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/  Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. Story
Lolita is 8 years old and 9 pounds. She is a vocal doggy who enjoys gentle interactions and soft spoken words.I don`t have a history of living with other dogs. I may do well with a slow introduction.I don`t have a history of living with cats. We recommend coming in as early as possible, as adoptions are first-come, first-served.

Story
To apply or see more of Ben, go to: https://www.heartsforpawsrescue.com/219873/2024/5/5/ben-1 Ben was rescued from a hoarding case in Modesto, where he lived with 86 other dogs. He is decompressing and is now ready to find a home, preferably with a dog friend or two! He also currently lives with a cat. A home with an enclosed yard would be ideal for Ben, but not necessarily required. He loves basking in the sun. From Ben’s previous foster: Ben has been opening up every day. He is now asking for pets and wanting to be close to cuddle. He is working on being comfortable when the humans are away but does well sleeping in his crate with a human or dog in the room. He does well with a kong as well. He is getting playful and allows full-body touch, but he doesn't love to be held just yet. However, he is comfortable being held with a blanket! Ben is an 18 lb dachshund mix (best guess) and described as sweet, affectionate, and playful, but may need some time to adjust to new environments due to his past experiences. Sponsored adoption donation (no fee!) includes neuter, rabies, dhpp, bordatella, flea tick treated, fecal tested/dewormed, and microchipped Currently in foster in San Francisco, CA. Interested in adopting? 1. Please complete our online form at heartsforpawsrescue.com/adoption-application 2. We will respond in 1-3 days for a call! 3.
