Story
Meet Danny, a one year old Dashshund/German shepherd shortstack. His foster has shared about Danny and the joy he brings to their life: We have had the privilege of being Danny's foster family. This bright and beautiful dog is truly a wonder, having been a stray this summer and now living with us. Knowing him, we can't imagine him as the scrawny street dog that he came to us as. Today, to walk Danny down the street is to engage with the world-both dog and human. "Who is that dog? "WHAT is that dog?! We hear this a lot. Danny is a shape-shifter! He is handsome with a shiny smooth coat. He definitely presents as a shepherd yet he is low to the ground like a corgi! He is very social with humans and a popular guy at the dog park readily playing with everyone. Danny is super athletic and remarkably fast, loving to play chase. We think he would be an amazing agility dog. At home he likes to play tug games and fetch. Danny is no couch potato-he needs exercise (two decent walks) and social times (dog parks) daily. When those needs are met, he will happily chew on a Himalaya stick (he has the brightest, whitest teeth!) and nap for several hours midday. If, however, he doesn't get this kind of social engagement and physical exercise, he will seek actively your attention. Danny is incredibly smart and eager to please-classic shepherd qualities shining through. Since coming to us he's quickly picking up walking on leash and learning commands like sit, down, stay and touch. We are working on come and heel which will take time but given his intelligence and willingness we are confident. His bark is deep like a German Shepherd. With the right companion, or family, who is active and has the time and energy to engage him, he will be a fun and steadfast member of your clan. We are committed to teaching Danny and helping him on his path to his forever companion or family. If you're interested to know more about Danny The Wonder Dog we would love to tell you about him and answer your questions.

Story
Princess has a huge heart and is very loving and devoted to her foster. She would make a great WFH companion, napping most of the day in a sunny spot and looking for periodic belly rubs. She loves her walks and is very curious about all of the activity in the neighborhood. Prefers canines on the smaller size, but is not reactive to other dogs on the leash. She is very food motivated, house trained, and weighs about 20 lbs. While very curious, Princess can be timid with new people and situations. She would likely benefit from an accepting, confident canine companion. Also, an adult only household or household with gentle teenagers would be a better fit.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Female basset hound mixBella’s owner, who has provided good care for her, needs to surrender Bella because of her increasing work responsibilities. Bella is a 49-pound spayed female, approximately 6+ years old and is a basset mixed with some other breed. She is up to date on all her vetting, house trained, microchipped,  and is in good health. Bella is shy and fearful of strangers, at first, but after warming  up, she loves attention and affection. She is hesitant around other dogs, slowly becoming comfortable and might play a little, but otherwise keeps to herself. Bella pulls when on leash and barks and lunges at other dogs when on the leash with her owner. She is best with dogs of similar size or larger and has never had issues with other dogs when attending day care. She has no experience with cats nor much experience with children. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 2, 2024, 6:04 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Buzz is a 7 year old neutered male basset hound with a loving playful personality. Buzz's foster home has helped Buzz shed a few pounds, so he is more active, very playful, and has come out of his shell. Buzz is up to date on all his vetting, including recently having had a dental. Buzz is a wonderful boy, he is sweet as they come. He sure loves his humans and needs to be with them whenever he can, following you all over the home. He loves to ride in the car and walks to the park. He is a little shy when meeting new doggies, but warms up quickly. He does play well with other dogs as he has 2 basset buddies here, one 6yr and a 4 month puppy, he will let the puppy know when he wants to be left alone. Buzz is a great watch dog, keeping an eye out on his home. Not sure how Buzz will do with cats though. Buzz does bark when you walk out the door, but does settles right down. He does get real excited when you do return and will bark a bit. This wonderful boy will be a great addition to any family. He definitely is a couch potato and loves to lay by you as you watch TV and scratch his neck. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 2, 2024, 6:04 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. This is Buddy, he is a young neutered Basset hound that came to us after quite a few changes in a short time.  3-1/2-year old Buddy came to GGBR after being with his owner only three months. He is a happy basset with a good dispostion who got along well with the other dog in the home as well as with dogs while on walks. He is friendly toward people and loves attention most of the time. After being in his short term home for a while, he developed a pattern of growling when he was laying down. This frightened one of the persons in the home, and thus Buddy needed to be rehomed. The primary owner did not feel the growling was a concerning issue, and found ways to give Buddy space if he did not want to be disturbed.  Buddy is a silly dude, a funny vocal hound. He is a cuddler, but also a busy, active boy! Buddy would do great with an active family that is dog experienced. Buddy needs an owner who can set boundaries for him; give Buddy an inch and he'll take a mile. Buddy does great with kids, but can sometimes be a little pushy and play rough, so young kids under 8 probably aren't recommended. Buddy is really good with other dogs, loves to play, but gets vocal when he's sleeping and isn't in the mood to play, so he requires a respectful doggie companion. He ignores kitties for the most part. Buddy is really good on a leash and in the car! He typically sleeps on the big human bed or in a crate. He is crate trained.
