Story
Yodi is four years old born in 2020. I'm not sure what breeds he mixed with. He has a long body and short legs and weighs 12 lbs, He has had two rescues in less then a year. The first rescue was when a witness saw him being beaten. Witness was able to get him to the vet for emergency care. Yodi has scars on his face and butt, but he wiggles with happiness. Yodi is forgiving of humans as dogs usually are. After his medical care he lived with another woman and her many dogs a short time until she passed away. Yodi is very happy boy who likes attention. He loves his belly rubbed. He is a couch dog who wants to sit on you or next to you. He snuggles his head under your chin for hugs. He does like to play with stuffed toys. He's happy to be picked up. I think he will be a great family dog who wants a companion. He is OK with other dogs and is pretty good with cats. He is living in a foster home that is a cat rescue also. He is fine with the cats as long as they don't try to snuggle on his face. He walks the house with the cats and pretty much ignores them. He loves small stuffed dog toys. He plays fetch. Yodi will make a great companion who wants company to watch tv with and a sleeping buddy.

Story
George came into us from another rescue. One of their advocates was able to rescue him on the street and take care of all of the medical to get him healthy. But they found that he was extremely fearful and they did not have the proper situation for him to try to work through his fear. He came to our rescue in the middle of May 2023. He is terrified of being touched. We are not sure if it was caused by abuse or if he's never experienced human touch. After working with him it's very clear that he would love to be loved he is just unsure how to proceed. He will need an adult who is patience and understanding with him but also confident enough to give him direction so that he can feel supported while working through his fears. A home with no children is recommended and he does really well with small confident and kind dogs.

Story
Baker is an active, 11-pound, wire-haired Dachshund mix puppy of 6 months, with beautiful brown and beige coloring. His coat is slightly coarse but soft and shiny. He will be a great dog for anyone, especially if you don't want grooming bills. Baker is somewhat sight-impaired with cloudy eyes but is able to see well enough to run fast all around the yard and house without bumping into things. He has been to a veterinary ophthalmologist who diagnosed his eye problems and feels they will clear eventually. It was caused, they think, from an infection causing his eyes to become inflamed and liquid to build up causing the cloudy appearance. It is improving but will take time to clear completely, and he will need eye meds until then. His having to deal with this has caused him to have 'blinding fear,' in other words, when scared he freezes and doesn't appear to see anything. He is just scared. Growing up and gaining confidence will help him to resolve his fear response. Baker is smart and active, a great cuddler, jumps up on the couch for loves, enjoys running around when taken outside, plays with toys and other dogs, and alerts to strangers. He is doing well with potty training and using the doggie door. He's not been leash tested yet. He is cooperative but cautious when called to come. He is fitting in well in his foster home. Baker is healthy, eats well, loves large beef bones, is well-muscled, well proportioned, not terribly long bodied for a doxy (which is good for his spine); maybe that's because he is a mix of some sort. He is not neutered yet, and the adopter will be contractually responsible for this procedure when he is old enough. Baker is a total love bug and will make a great companion for any family with gentle hands and voices, and the patience to train a puppy. He is still very young and very active and not recommended for seniors as he tends to walk underfoot and could be a trip hazard. If you are interested in meeting and possibly adopting Baker, the first step is to submit an adoption application. Please go to our website www.k9bestfriendsforever.com and click on "Adopt" which will take you to our online application form.

I am a new arrival to Kimie's Kritters and am a young and active gentleman. I love playing with other dogs and seem to get along well with others. I have not been cat-tested but Kimie thinks I would do well with them. Due to my energy level, Kimie thinks I would do best in a home with a fenced yard.

Story
Tina is a sweet, gentle, and playful dog around 2 years old and weighing 11 pounds. She is a very shy, unique looking Dachshund, Pug, and Chihuahua mix who is in need of a forever home where she can feel safe and loved once again. Tina has had it rough, as it looks like she has suffered some abuse and was left outside Front Street Shelter parking lot when they were closed. She spent over a month in the shelter before being taken into Little Paws, but because of her experience she has been very wary of people. With patience and kindness however, she has begun to trust again and it has been wonderful to see her grow in confidence. Tina is a loyal and loving dog who just needs someone to give her a chance. She is active and would be a great companion for someone who can give her the attention and care she needs, helping her to trust again and providing her with a safe environment to thrive. She would benefit from a patient owner who can help build up her confidence and she will be the most loving, sweet and loyal dog in return. Despite her shyness, Tina has a wonderful playful side and loves to steal socks and shoes, (though she doesn't eat them)! She also loves toys and she hasn't met a toy she doesn't love! She has the adorable, cute floppy ears, along with the long body and the tail of a dachshund with a curl in it, the head of a Chihuahua and the crunched face and wrinkles of a pug! Tina loves using the doggy door and is great with steps or ramps. She would benefit from dog training and obstacle course training as this would really help to boost her self-esteem. We can see her being great at agility in the future! She is housebroken, pee pad trained, crate trained, microchipped, vaccinated and spayed. She is good with other dogs but we are not sure about cats. Her adoption fee is $700. If you think you could be Tina's special person to give her the home she deserves, or you have any questions, please go to littlepawsdoggierescue.org and fill out an adoption questionnaire. Thank you.

Story
To apply or see more of Ben, go to: https://www.heartsforpawsrescue.com/219873/2024/5/5/ben-1 Ben was rescued from a hoarding case in Modesto, where he lived with 86 other dogs. He is decompressing and is now ready to find a home, preferably with a dog friend or two! He also currently lives with a cat. A home with an enclosed yard would be ideal for Ben, but not necessarily required. He loves basking in the sun. From Ben’s previous foster: Ben has been opening up every day. He is now asking for pets and wanting to be close to cuddle. He is working on being comfortable when the humans are away but does well sleeping in his crate with a human or dog in the room. He does well with a kong as well. He is getting playful and allows full-body touch, but he doesn't love to be held just yet. However, he is comfortable being held with a blanket! Ben is an 18 lb dachshund mix (best guess) and described as sweet, affectionate, and playful, but may need some time to adjust to new environments due to his past experiences. $150 adoption donation includes neuter, rabies, dhpp, bordatella, flea tick treated, fecal tested/dewormed, and microchipped Interested in adopting? 1. Please complete our online form at heartsforpawsrescue.com/adoption-application 2. We will respond in 1-3 days for a call! 3. If it sounds like a potential match for you and the dog of interest, we will promptly set up a meet and greet at the foster home Please note we are a foster-based rescue meaning our dogs are in individual foster homes throughout sac and the bay. For this reason we may only be able to schedule meets for one dog at a time (or litter). The average timeline between app submission and a meet and greet is 3-5 days. Please only submit an application for a specific dog if you are ready to adopt that animal within a week's time. Follow facebook.com/heartsforpawsrescue & Instagram @heartsforpawsrescue for more!
