Story
My name is Dori Mousaw, i live in Stockton, CA. and I have a male dachshund, age 12 years, that I am in the need of finding a new home. I've had him, Wizzy, since birth and he has had health issues since birth. But, with his age, they are getting steadily worse, and I am unable to care for him properly. My male is 12 years old. Weights 19lbs. and has a chronic skin infection issue. His father had manage really bad most of his life and I think Wizzy inherited it. I have always been able to keep it under control but now, with his age. I am just not able to. His vet Sandeep Chahal at the Animal Hospital in Lodi, CA. has been trying all different medications, shampoos, and lotion but nothing is seeming to work anymore, Wizzy is also very anxious all the time and I think his itching and skin problems are because of that. I moved a year ago and my rent went from $500 a month to $900 a month, so my disposable income is not what it use to be. I have had to put off paying rent a few times.

Story
Tina is a sweet, gentle, and playful dog around 2 years old and weighing 11 pounds. She is a very shy, unique looking Dachshund, Pug, and Chihuahua mix who is in need of a forever home where she can feel safe and loved once again. Tina has had it rough, as it looks like she has suffered some abuse and was left outside Front Street Shelter parking lot when they were closed. She spent over a month in the shelter before being taken into Little Paws, but because of her experience she has been very wary of people. With patience and kindness however, she has begun to trust again and it has been wonderful to see her grow in confidence. Tina is a loyal and loving dog who just needs someone to give her a chance. She is active and would be a great companion for someone who can give her the attention and care she needs, helping her to trust again and providing her with a safe environment to thrive. She would benefit from a patient owner who can help build up her confidence and she will be the most loving, sweet and loyal dog in return. Despite her shyness, Tina has a wonderful playful side and loves to steal socks and shoes, (though she doesn't eat them)! She also loves toys and she hasn't met a toy she doesn't love! She has the adorable, cute floppy ears, along with the long body and the tail of a dachshund with a curl in it, the head of a Chihuahua and the crunched face and wrinkles of a pug! Tina loves using the doggy door and is great with steps or ramps. She would benefit from dog training and obstacle course training as this would really help to boost her self-esteem. We can see her being great at agility in the future! She is housebroken, pee pad trained, crate trained, microchipped, vaccinated and spayed. She is good with other dogs but we are not sure about cats. Her adoption fee is $700. If you think you could be Tina's special person to give her the home she deserves, or you have any questions, please go to littlepawsdoggierescue.org and fill out an adoption questionnaire. Thank you.

Story
Here comes Hazel! Hazel is estimated to be 3 years old and is the sweetest little girl around. She is very much a little lap dog and wants to always be by your side. She lives for affection and is happiest when she gets to be the center of attention. Hazel is fully growing weighing in about 8lbs. Hazel came to us from a local animal shelter after being found as a stray with a group of other small dogs in a rural part of the county. All of the other dogs got adopted from the shelter, but we were able to scoop her up and place her in a foster home and she has been thriving since. Hazel is the epitome of a Velcro dog and will follow you around, always eager for some love. She would be a perfect companion for someone who works from home or a family with lots of people for her to hang out with. She is a total extrovert who loves making friends wherever she goes and is quick to become your new best friend. She is the perfect petite size for traveling and is content to do whatever, as long as she can be by your side. She is a moderate-energy girl with the energy to play but is also happy to chill on the couch. Hazel seems to not have had any training before coming to us, so her new family will need to be committed to working on her basic manners with her. So far, she has been non-destructive in the home and walks well on a leash. Hazel has done well living with other small dogs but does best with slow introductions. She could live with other small dogs, or she would love to be your one and only canine companion. We haven't seen Hazel around cats, but she may do okay with a slow introduction and proper supervision. Hazel currently lives with two respectful young kids and could be a great addition to a family with kids 5 years or older. Hazel has been doing well with her housetraining but will need someone willing to be patient with her as she will have occasional accidents when settling into a new environment and routine. Hazel has done well being crated for short periods and overnight, though she would love to sleep in bed with you if you let her. She hasn't spent too much time completely alone, so would do best with a family who can slowly acclimate her to being home alone. Hazel is the most darling girl and she is going to make the best BFF for her new person/people. If you think that might be you, submit an adoption application today!   Hazel's adoption fee is $300.     A pply to adopt here! https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/  Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org. For more general questions, please see our website at www.yolospca.org. October 3, 2024, 4:46 pm
