Story
To apply or see more of Ben, go to: https://www.heartsforpawsrescue.com/219873/2024/5/5/ben-1 Ben was rescued from a hoarding case in Modesto, where he lived with 86 other dogs. He is decompressing and is now ready to find a home, preferably with a dog friend or two! He also currently lives with a cat. A home with an enclosed yard would be ideal for Ben, but not necessarily required. He loves basking in the sun. From Ben’s previous foster: Ben has been opening up every day. He is now asking for pets and wanting to be close to cuddle. He is working on being comfortable when the humans are away but does well sleeping in his crate with a human or dog in the room. He does well with a kong as well. He is getting playful and allows full-body touch, but he doesn't love to be held just yet. However, he is comfortable being held with a blanket! Ben is an 18 lb dachshund mix (best guess) and described as sweet, affectionate, and playful, but may need some time to adjust to new environments due to his past experiences. $150 adoption donation includes neuter, rabies, dhpp, bordatella, flea tick treated, fecal tested/dewormed, and microchipped Interested in adopting? 1. Please complete our online form at heartsforpawsrescue.com/adoption-application 2. We will respond in 1-3 days for a call! 3. If it sounds like a potential match for you and the dog of interest, we will promptly set up a meet and greet at the foster home Please note we are a foster-based rescue meaning our dogs are in individual foster homes throughout sac and the bay. For this reason we may only be able to schedule meets for one dog at a time (or litter). The average timeline between app submission and a meet and greet is 3-5 days. Please only submit an application for a specific dog if you are ready to adopt that animal within a week's time. Follow facebook.com/heartsforpawsrescue & Instagram @heartsforpawsrescue for more! Story
Alex is the cutest little sausage dog! Alex is estimated to be around 8 years old and is a sweet and sensitive guy looking for his fur-ever home. Alex  is a mellow guy who enjoys the simple things in life like being cozy in front of the fireplace and eating tasty treats. He can be a little shy at first, but once he warms up, he never wants to leave your side. Alex is a little chunky and would benefit from daily exercise and a diet to help him get to a more healthy weight. He currently weighs around 15lbs. Alex came to us from a local shelter after he was surrendered with his buddy Bruno by their previous owner. We were told it was due to issues with the landlord. At first, we thought the boys were a bonded pair, but as we have gotten to get to know them more, they seem like they would be okay being separated. It would still be great if someone wanted to adopt both pups, but it isn't required. Alex is the more outgoing of the two but is the more anxious one. While his buddy has learned to enjoy walks, Alex is more of a stay-at-home type of guy. He has come to enjoy being outside, but would much rather be inside and cozy if given the choice. He loves to cuddle and give kisses but is always able to chill on the couch while you get work done. He  would make a great companion for a senior person or couple or anyone looking for a lap dog. Alex has done well living with other dogs and seems to do best with other mellow dogs. Alex has done well living with cats and is great about ignoring them and giving them space. Alex previously lived with kids and could be a great addition to a family with kids older than 10 years old. Alex and Bruno's previous owner said they are pee pad trained and they have been doing great transitioning to pottying outside. They likely would do best in a home with a yard, maybe with a dog door, to make the transition to a new routine easier. They have done well being crated together, sleeping through the night in their bed, and free-roaming in their foster mom's bedroom for short periods. Alex is so ready for a fresh start with his fur-ever family. If you think that might be you, submit an adoption application today!   Alex's adoption fee is $250.   Apply to adopt here!  https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/   Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org. For more general questions, please see our website at www.yolospca.org. December 23, 2024, 7:34 pm

Story
Kipper is an absolute sweetheart! With his charming mix of Dachshund and Jack Russell terrier traits, plus his stunning eyes, (one blue and one brown) it’s hard not to fall for him. It’s wonderful that he’s playful and enjoys treats, especially carrots—those are great ways to bond and train him. It’s great to hear he’s already leash trained and just needs a bit more of a routine for house training. He does use a doggie door. Since he has a special bond with his sister Kayla, it would be worth considering a home that can accommodate both, especially since they enjoy each other's company. Kipper seems like he’d bring so much joy and love to a household that can provide him with affection, structure, and playtime. If anyone is looking for a loving companion who is ready to learn and play that is Kipper. He is playful with other dogs but he loves to be in charge! Though he is great with his sister. Kipper is neutered , microchipped and currently vaccinated. Kipper and Kayla seem like the perfect fit! Here's hoping they find a forever home soon.
