Story
Boy and Girl (whom we're calling Ralph and Littles) were found in Campbell, CA in December. We looked checked for microchips, put up flyers, and posted on multiple online sights but no such luck. The dogs took a few weeks to warm up to us and but were comfortable with our 3 big dogs almost instantly. At the beginning they were very timid but after a couple weeks, they were running around all over the place. We did notice that the dogs warmed up to the women in the house a lot quicker than the men in the house (about 2 weeks vs 6 weeks). UPDATE: the dogs were recently on a 2 week trial but the couple decided it was not going to work out which is why they are posted again. They said the dogs were very sweet but were scared of the husband so it was had for only the wife to take care of the dogs when they both worked full time. The couple had taken them to the vet and said the boy is about 3-5 years old and the girl is about 1-2 years old. They received a rabies shot and a flea dosage.

If you’re looking for a calm, affectionate companion who will always be by your side, Mila is the perfect match. She’s a Velcro dog through and through—whether she’s burrowing under the blankets at bedtime, lounging under your desk while you work, or curling up for an evening of TV, she just wants to be near her person. Mila’s Daily Life & Personality Mila starts her day with a gentle morning routine, going outside for a sniff session while you sip your coffee. She enjoys these peaceful moments but is not an overly active dog—she prefers short walks in nice weather and then is happy to relax for the rest of the day. During work hours, Mila naps under the desk, occasionally stepping outside for a potty break. She doesn’t engage much with other dogs but coexists politely with them. In the evening, Mila has a silly side! She gets zoomies, spins in happy circles when you call her playfully, and loves tossing around her Lambchop plush toy. It’s one of the rare times she really gets excited, and it’s adorable to watch! Mila’s Ideal Home A calm, low-key household where she can be the center of attention. She can live with another small, quiet dog but would be just as happy as the only pet. She’s polite with cats, as long as they respect her space.A home where she can snuggle, lounge, and enjoy cozy moments with her person. Mila’s Perfect Manners & Care Needs Fully potty trained, crate trained, and leash trained. Non-destructive—she free roams the house without issue. No chewing, digging, or excessive barking—only alerts when someone is at the door. Low-maintenance coat—she doesn’t require regular grooming beyond occasional brushing and baths. Sensitive to cold—she loves sweaters, blankets, and warm cuddles. Why Mila is Special Mila has a motherly, gentle personality that makes her a wonderful emotional support companion. She’s deeply attuned to her person’s emotions, offering quiet companionship and unconditional love. Her loyal, loving nature makes her the perfect match for someone who wants a dog that’s more than a pet—Mila wants to be your best friend. Story
Blacky is part of a bonded pair. She came to live with us when my mom went into a memory care facility. She is a 10 year old Dauchaund Mix and has been a faithful companion to my mom for 10 years. Blacky is friendly, loves going on walks and greeting other dogs, and gives the best "welcome home" wiggle you will ever experience. She loves belly rubs and being told how cute she is. We hope to find Blacky and her bonded buddy, Precious, a home where she is appreciated for her faithfulness, constant companionship, and sweet demeanor.

Story
Seven year old Frida is looking for some dog people to live with that want a really affectionate, sweet dog to join them with walks, play and cuddling. Her background is sketchy at best, but she has learned to walk reasonably well on leash, gets along with other dogs on walks, has recently welcomed a visiting dog, and loves her trips to Golden Gate Park dog run. She is still initially nervous about visitors, but one treat can create a friendship. She currently sleeps in her fosters’ bed, is crate trained and does well when left alone. She has a huge appetite that needs to be watched as she would love to be a fat girl. She is now just right at 13 lbs. She has learned quite a few commands and easily fits into household daily life. She sometimes lets you know when a strange dog is passing her house but it can be minimized, and you will usually be notified of postal deliveries. By far, Frida's favorite day is being with her humans whether on a walk, in the car, visiting a store, or wherever you happen to be. As she has spent a number of months with her foster family, she comes with an offer of free boarding if you have a vacation or weekend away that can’t include a dog or just some visits. Grateful Dogs Rescue incurs substantial veterinary and other expenses in rescuing our dogs. In order to recoup some of these costs, we request a tax-deductible donation for each adoption. The suggested donation for Frida is $300. If you are interested in adopting Frida, please complete our online adoption application at  https://www.gratefuldogsrescue.org/adoption-process/  . One of our volunteers will get back to you. Adoptions are local, confined to the SF Bay Area. November 5, 2024, 10:42 pm

Story
Wee Wellie (aka Wellington) didn't learn much about the bigger world in his first two years, so he starts off pretty timid and cautious about new people and new situations. But after just a week into being in a foster home, he's become a different dude. Bouncy, happy, and confident, he's learning how to loose-leash walk very quickly, has started playing fetch with a toy, lives for snuggles with humans, and is enjoying life!  Wellie is house trained, crate trained, and is quick to pick up new routines. He's content to curl up nearby when his foster parents are working from home, and while he can be a bit anxious, he has not yet shown any signs of destructive behaviors or excess barkiness. He spends his nights in a crate by himself, very quietly and with no accidents, but he would LOVE to sleep in your bed. And he's very respectful of his cranky senior foster sister's lack of interest in playing with him, though he'd also LOVE another playful, confident dog to teach him the ropes.  Wellie could be a good fit for almost any home where he can get plenty of exercise, stimulation, and affection. Ideally, his human siblings would be old enough to respect his tiny size and occasional timidity, and any cats would be of the confident variety, rather than ones easily terrorized by a dog who likes to chase. Wellie would thrive with a secure outdoor space to sniff and race around, but a family who can give him regular daily walks and playtime could also work well for him. He's got plenty of puppy energy and goofiness, but he is tuned into his human's voice, and he loves treats, so he is ready for some positive reinforcement training! Snuggly, affectionate, and a quick learner, this guy is a treasure!  Grateful Dogs Rescue incurs substantial veterinary and other expenses in rescuing our dogs. In order to recoup some of these costs, we request a tax-deductible donation for each adoption. The suggested donation for Wellie is $300. Story
Archie is about 12 pounds and 2 years old. He came in with a bunch of other dogs from the same house. He is shy with people but social with dogs. Given about a week time to settle, Archie has become his foster mom's absolute shadow. He will need a person/family who will be home much of the day. Another dog would be a plus! Archie loves snuggling on the couch, chasing his canine foster sister around the lawn, he’s a great eater, and mostly potty trained with only a few accidents. He’s very treat motivated and willing to learn to make his human happy! Grateful Dogs Rescue incurs substantial veterinary and other expenses in rescuing our dogs. In order to recoup some of these costs, we request a tax-deductible donation for each adoption. The suggested donation for Archie is $300.
