Please visit leiashope.org for our adoption process. Location: Troy, MO Leisl is a happy puppy with a lot to say. She can be shy when you first meet her but warms up quickly. Leisl is very playful and likes to play with the other dogs, even if they don't want to play. She loves toys and playing tag with the other foster puppies. When she is excited she barks, which may not make her ideal for an apartment/condo. Leisl came from a puppy mill and was a puppy that the breeder could not sell. She is learning about freedom and being in a home. She would enjoy a playful dog to play with in her new home. She enjoys being brushed and getting loved on. She is going to need frequent brushing and grooming. Leisl's adoption is $500. She is vaccinated, microchipped, spayed and on monthly heart worm prevention. Visit leiashope.org for next steps. PLEASE NOTE: We are a volunteer ran rescue with full time jobs. Please allow 7-10 days for application processing. All of our dogs are in foster homes and a meet and greet is done ONLY after an approved application. We do adopt out of the area. However, we do not ship or provide transportation. You must come to the location of the dog to meet and adopt. NO EXCEPTION. All family members and dogs must be present at the meet. Dogs are a commitment for THEIR lifetime. For puppies this could be 15 years. If YOU cannot commit to the lifetime of the DOG, please do not apply. Puppies under 9 months must go to a home where there is someone home frequently (works from home or a partner is home), can adequately socialize and train the puppy, and can keep up with puppy energy!

Secure fenced yard (no electric fences) and companion dog required     Misty is a 6 year old shih tzu who had a rough start to life. She is gentle and shy, and she has some quirks. Misty is unable to navigate down flights of stairs, so she needs to be carried. She can go up stairs just fine. She also is sometimes afraid of going outside, so again she needs to be picked up and carried.  Misty gets along with other dogs great and mostly just wants to chill near them. She is not rowdy nor is she very loud unless she’s been locked in her crate and she wants out. When she gets excited her whole body wiggles and she starts licking whoever is nearby.  Misty would be great in a quiet home where people are around often. She benefits from frequent potty breaks, gets excited for meals and takes treats gently. Misty will require at least one companion dog and a fenced yard.   If you are interested, complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Misty’s adoption fee is $275.00, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip. We are a 100% foster-based rescue and all of our dogs live in approved foster homes. We are dedicated to finding the best Forever Homes, and will perform home visits and conduct veterinarian and reference checks for each potential adopter. Meet Rufio! Rufio is a 1.5 year old Shih Tzu. He was surrendered to us because the original dog in his home was reactive towards him, causing stress for both Oreo and his family. He also was in desperate need of a good groom/de-matting. We happily took this boy in and gave him all the TLC he needed. He is now freshly groomed, up to date on vaccines, has been tested for heartworms and parasites, and is ready for his forever home! He is a very happy boy with lots of personality. He loves his toys and loves people as well! We have tested him with a couple of dogs here which he was fine with. He keeps his cage clean and goes potty on walks. He is still very young and we think he would do well in just about any home! His adoption fee is $400. The adoption fee includes their care, de-worming, microchip, neuter, vaccines, fecal test, and preventatives up to the point of adoption. In addition to their adoption fee, there is a $45 fee to cover the 6 months of heartworm prevention we will send home with each adoptee. Story
Walter is a 10-year-old Shih Tzu rescued through the Humane Society. Walter only has his canine teeth left, so he will need canned food for the remainder of his life; but he just had a dental in June, so those remaining teeth are clean and polished! Walter is showing some signs of aging, but he is in very good shape. He tolerates some dogs but would prefer to be the only male, and he would be happiest if he was the star of the show. His favorite thing is going on a treasure hunt to find all of the toys. He brings them back to his bed and makes a huge pile of his bounty. Then he sits on his throne to survey all that he has accomplished. Walter appears to like men more than women. He loves to curl up and snuggle in the recliner on his foster dad's lap, but he refuses to sit long-term with his foster mom. She's trying not to take it personally, but he does follow her around the house. Walter has backpack all packed, and he's ready to travel. He would love to head out and see everything there is to see in the world! He loves looking out the window! Walter was recently groomed and will require regular grooming with his new adopters.
