ABOUT THELMA Thelma is a 4.5 year old Blue Tick Coonhound with quite the backstory. She was originally found wandering as a stray in West Virginia with her friend, Louise. Their local animal control did not have space for them, so HAP stepped in to save them from euthanasia. While Thelma was found with Louise, they are not a bonded pair, but can be adopted together. Thelma would likely do well in a home with another dog to help build her confidence. We aren't sure of her past or what she may have endured, but she can be a bit reserved or nervous when first meeting people. Once she knows you're safe, she is sure to melt into your lap for love. Thelma is very gentle and mellow, spending most of her days snoozing on her cozy bed or enjoying an afternoon stroll. She loves to go for leisurely walks and her hound nose definitely knows how to stop and smell the roses! Thelma would thrive in a calm, loving home environment! If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.
