Story
Roscoe is a very striking, handsome, dapper hound. He loves to play with his brother, sister and foster siblings. He tries to be as brave as possible but always approaches new situations with a lot of caution. Roscoe loves exploring the outdoors. He is a sweet, often goofy, athletic hound. His markings are very distinctive including bright "pumpkins seeds" above his sparkling eyes and absolutely adorable freckles. Roscoe is good with other dogs of all ages & sizes and has been introduced to cats but at a distance. He loves puppies! Kid testing has been very limited due to the pandemic.  Roscoe was born to a stray Mom in a dilapidated abandoned shack.  Completely feral and terrified of humans the Mom could and would not be caught. It was a freezing cold rainy January day when we first saw her litter of 14 huddled together in the corner of the abandoned house with no windows or doors. Too young to take, all we could do was leave food for the Mom each day hoping she would not leave or move her puppies. But she did move them numerous times. Sadly we continued to find dead puppies until one day they all disappeared. At age 4.5 months we were notified that 5 puppies were eating at the abandoned house. We recognized them by their markings and age. These pups were also feral by this time. But we could not leave them to live their lives as strays in a rural county with no animal control or shelter. Were they would likely be shot, poisoned or trapped to be used as bait dog's.  Three of Roscoe's siblings have been adopted and are absolutely wonderful pets. Roscoe and his brother Deputy are still being fostered.  Roscoe will require a very patient adopter or foster  home that is experienced with fearful dogs. His foster home currently has a lot of dogs, including a medical foster. They are managing so many personalities and dynamics they cannot give him the one on one attention he desperately needs. He absolutely requires a fenced yard. Perhaps with another dog that loves to be outside. A family that will give him time and space to adjust. Dirt Road Doggie’s Rescue will provide everything he needs and our full support as he transitions to new surroundings. He will be challenging. But like his siblings, once the barrier is lifted you will have an amazing, special boy to love. Roscoe has a precious tender heart and sweet, gentle soul. He is very special.  Roscoe is up to date on vaccines, neutered, microchipped and heartworm negative. Crate trained, a bit stubborn on a leash but we are working on that.  He is lovingly fostered in Rutledge GA. https://awo.petstablished.com/pets/public/816346 ##816346##

Story
Debbie was dumped on a dirt road and was out on her own for 6 months or more. She learned to survive and had her best friend Daisy there too. They had puppies together and were the best mommies! It took me 5 months to catch her, but she warmed up very quickly! She is low key and loves to relax in the sun! She loves her belly rubs too! She would love to find a home with her best friend Daisy, they have such a sweet bond.  She is good with cats and dogs.  She was being crated during the day and was doing ok with it, but not thrilled. She stays outside in the fence now, when we're at work, and is much happier! She is extremely loving to her humans that she trusts and will make someone a wonderful pet! ##2160454##

Story
She Ain’t Nothing But a Hound Dog   Oh, but not true – She is VERY HAPPY hound dog, with a tail that never quits waving "hi". She's never met a stranger and loves every human and canineshe meets. Born in December 2022, Erin has stopped growing but still has a lot of puppy playfulness in her. Weighing in at 50 lbs and standing tall with the long legs of a Radio City Rockette, she absolutely loves engaging other dogs in play and would thrive in a home with another like-minded, high-energy buddy.  Great with mid to older kids, but probably not best for the toddlers, just because of her not understanding they are not play buddies. No known exposure to the feline world, so..?  Erin likes to sing the song of her people when she plays, so she probably would not be appreciated in a community housing environment.  In May of 2024, Erin had an ulnar osteotomy of the left front leg to help stabilize incongruity from an untreated puppy injury. Deemed 100% successful by her UGA team, it saved the leg and allows Erin to romp and play, within reason, but she will likely need support meds the rest of her years to offset occasional discomfort/overuse/stiffness from big adventure days. Erin is a proud graduate from a board and training program at Rucker Dog Training in Cumming, GA. She knows the basic dog commands of: Name, Heel, Sit, Place, Come, Down, Off, Drop, and Free both on and off leash. Exercising her skills has been instrumental in teaching her focus, direction, and the ability to channel her lovable energy and happiness into pleasing her person. Erin holds a lifetime of free Rucker advanced group training classes that will transfer to her adopter. Her foster family finds her daily practice time fun for both her and them, and it’s rewarding to see her shine. Erin is spayed, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, potty trained, and crate trained.  All of this and her adoption donationis just $350. Many videos available. Erin is fostered in the Gainesville, GA area. ##1904885##
