Story
Jethro is a spirited 7-month-old Heeler/German Shepherd mix who’s looking for his forever home. He’s an incredibly sweet, energetic, and intelligent pup who is eager to learn and explore the world around him. Despite his tough start in life, having been abandoned by his previous owner, Jethro is full of love and ready to trust again.Jethro’s playful nature and curious personality make him a great companion for someone who enjoys outdoor adventures, daily walks, or even some fun fetch sessions. He’s still in his “puppy phase,” so he’s working on his manners and loves any opportunity to bond with his humans. He’s quick to learn, so with a little patience and training, he’ll thrive in a structured environment. This brave little guy is good with other dogs and enjoys the company of new friends. While he may take a little time to warm up to new people due to his past, once he trusts you, Jethro is the loyal and loving companion you’ve been looking for.If you`re looking for a smart, energetic, and affectionate dog to add to your family, Jethro could be the one! He just needs someone who will show him the love and care he deserves after a rough start. Could that be you?Did you know YHS lets local community members FOSTER TO ADOPT?? Story
Meet Nova, a four year old Australian Kelpie mix weighing 58 pounds (although she is quite overweight).Nova`s story is a sad one, she is quite literally the stereotypical case of her owners getting a puppy and no longer wanting her. She came in as a stray and we called the owners on the microchip and were told we had the wrong number. Some people came in who help with the greenway and said the chipped owner had owned the dog for a while and were homeless. When she was told by them that the dog is at YHS she told them that she is fine with that as she left it at the park because she now has puppies that she would rather have. The greenway people said she has been found multiple times by them before being returned to her owner and she is good with dogs of all sizes and even their cats. Nova is so cute; she does a little happy dance when she gets excited in her kennel. She does need to lose weigh in order to stay healthy and live a long life. She is so friendly, loves going for walks and very active even with her size so we think she will lose her weight without issue. This silly lady is treat motivated and keeps us laughing. Story
Meet Canelo, a one-year-old Australian Kelpie/Shepherd mix weighing around 50 pounds. Canelo is a friendly boy who is a great medium size. He is at a fantastic age to start his training and will be like a sponge soaking up all of the info. He gets very excited when he sees dogs on leash, but seems like he just really wants to play with them. His finder said he rode well in their car but recommended he goes to a home with no cats as he likes to chase them. This enthusiastic boy can`t wait to go on walks and would love to go on hikes if that is something you are interested in, if not he is cool with running around a backyard instead. Canelo is going to be so much fun for someone. This pet is available for adoption on 1/7/2025 at 4:01 PM at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center.
