** Currently fostered in Houston Texas, but available for adoption out of state via rescue transportation, included in adoption fee. Offer Zoom call to virtually meet prior to adoption. Meet Barkley! This sweet baby wandered up on someone's property. He was wearing a harness on that had the brand name boots and barkley, so that's where the finder got his name. Barkley was chipped, but unfortunately it was not registered. It shows that he was adopted in January2023, and that he is estimated about 5 years of age. He currently weighs around 55 lbs and we believe him to be a border collie/cattle dog mix. He has energy and he loves to run and play, but can be a couch potato too. His favorite thing in the world is to play fetch with a ball! Barkley likes other dogs if they are female, but has not been a fan of males. We believe it's from a lack of social time with other dogs because he doesn't come off as just an aggressive pup, he just seems like he was kept in a yard and ignored a lot of the time prior to rescue and may not be familiar with most dogs. Barkley clearly knows his basic commands, such as sit, kennel, shake and settle. He is highly toy and food motivated and responds wonderfully to focused training. With continued training, we could even see him being an agility pup! Barkley is crate trained, housebroken and does well on leash. He is fully vetted, meaning he us neutered, up to date on all vaccines, microchipped and on monthly preventions for flea, tick and heartworm. I weigh 11 kg, making me the perfect size for all kinds of adventures! 🥰 My Story: I was rescued just in time from a kill center, and now I’m looking for my forever home where I can share all my love and joy. 💖 My Personality: I’m very affectionate and love to rub against people, whether I know them or not. I’m always ready for some pets! 🐶 You can lift me by putting your arm under my belly. I’m easy to handle! 🪶 Once I get to know you, I’ll happily show you my belly. It’s my way of saying I trust you! 🐾 I love meeting new dogs and always ask them to play. I’m a friendly girl! 🐕 I might need a bit of caution when meeting new dogs for the first time, especially if toys or snacks are involved. 🧸 When I see a cat during a walk, I stay focused on my human. My new family should be firm when giving me snacks or toys. 🍖 I might try to bite a stranger’s hand if I’m in a kennel, but that’s because I was traumatized while moving to a training center. 🏡 I don’t show any behavior issues at the training center, but I might need some time to adjust in a new place. 🐾 I’m looking for a loving home where I can continue to grow and share my affection.
