Story
Bentley is a sweet, sweet young collie! We estimate his age to be 2 years old. He tested Lyme Positive (but with no signs of an active infection), and he is doing great on antibiotics. He is a mid-sized boy, recently neutered, and he has classic collie markings and a lovely coat. Bentley is energetic and playful, but he is cuddly and loves his people too! He knows sit, shake and delightedly bounds over when called. He immediately made himself at home on his foster mom's sofa and bed, and loves early morning cuddles. He’s getting along easily with the other collies in the house, and they enjoy playing together regularly.  He loves humans too, and greets everyone as a new best friend! Bentley is housebroken and has shown no fear or aggression … he's just a happy, sweet, loving boy, who is ready for his forever home and an active family to call his own!If you are interested in rescuing a collie, please complete this short adoption questionnaire. These babies were brought to us after a lady’s neighbor left the pregnant mama. She kept the mom but could not keep her babies. This is a fun group of pups! They get along with strangers, kids and other dogs. They do well in a crate, usually just go to sleep. They would do well on hikes or other outside adventures. They are in a puppy teething mode so beware of fingers!! They are in need of all basic puppy training and just loads of love! A wonderful addition to any family. She is currently being fostered in TN but we use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport.

Story
Meet Maverick! Maverick is just a baby who is still learning what being a dog is all about and is catching on very quickly. Whether it’s cats or dogs, if it’s got fur and it moves, Maverick automatically wants to play with it. This can be frustrating for senior dogs, while younger dogs will think that it’s great. Maverick likes to play with toys but gets easily distracted by the brand new world that is waiting for him to explore. Because Maverick is still learning manners, he would fit best in a home with older children. While he does well with not jumping on his foster mom, it is possible that he could accidentally knock a smaller child down. Overall, Maverick is pretty gentle and likes to snuggle with his foster mom from time to time. His crate training is coming along nicely and he can currently go for about five hours before needing to be let out. If Maverick sounds like your dog, complete an application at https://www.saveastray.org/forms/form?formid=3635 Thank you for your interest in a Save a Stray pet. The first step is to complete an adoption application. https://www.saveastray.org/forms/form?formid=3635 Once the application is approved, a FaceTime will be set up for a virtual meet and greet. Since we are located in Mobile, AL, this will give you the opportunity to see the pet interact with other dogs, people, and see a bit of their personality. Transports leave every week alternating between the NE and the Great Lakes. We use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport.

Story
Meet Kansas, a beautiful Rough Collie who is looking for her true forever home. Originally purchased from a breeder, she was rehomed when her first family's older dog struggled to accept a puppy. Her current family took her in and gave her a loving home, but unfortunately, they are moving and unable to take her along. Wanting the best for Kansas, they reached out to our rescue for help. Kansas is currently living with her two foster parents, and their two dogs, and has regular visits from the grandkids. She gets along well with other dogs and makes new friends easily. Being young and active, she needs a home with a playful companion to match her energy. Kansas is not a city or condo dog,  She will do best in a home with some space to romp and play and needs an active family. We checked in with her foster mom, Cindy, for an early update: "Kansas has a very sweet personality, but she’s still adjusting and learning to trust. She enjoys playtime and treats but hasn’t yet started actively seeking affection—I believe that will come with a little more time. She meets new dogs and people wonderfully on a leash and is very well-behaved on outings. She’s great in the car and loves to go on hikes. She’s a young, active dog who loves to play, though my older dogs aren’t always up for it, and she can be a bit of an enthusiastic little sister at times. This may settle as she continues to adjust. During the day, she’s energetic, but she does wind down at night. She’s fully housetrained and has no destructive tendencies, so I leave my door open at night, allowing her to roam freely with the other dogs." More to come as this pretty pup settles in.  BREED ESTIMATE: Rough Collie GENDER: Female APPROXIMATE WEIGHT:  42 lbs (needs to gain 7-8 lbs) APPROXIMATE AGE: ~ 1.5 years old COAT TYPE: Long coat requires regular grooming ADOPTION FEE: $425 OTHER INFO: utd on shots/spayed/microchipped LOCATION: Fort Mill, SC   FOR MORE INFO OR TO ADOPT: Please go to https://adopt.worthydog.org and complete the application. You can also help save dogs like this one by becoming a foster, providing a rescue dog with a temporary home and giving them the love and care they need until they are permanently adopted. Every person who fosters is directly responsible for saving the life of a dog, because we can only save as many dogs as we have foster families available to welcome them into their homes. If you think you might be interested in becoming a foster and want to learn more, please go to https://foster.worthydog.org and fill out an application. Worthy Dog Rescue is an all-volunteer, foster-based rescue that primarily adopts to families in the DC Metro area. February 7, 2025, 12:47 pm
