Although she's not a purebred Collie, her mix certainly contains lots of it. This is presented in her beautiful coat and little white paws. The good news is she likes pets, so you can feel just how soft her coat is. Colleen is new in town and is still getting her bearings straight. She is coming around but will need some extra time, space, and patience to blossom. Ideally, she needs a home that will understand that she will need a little TCL to come out of her shell. If you invest in her, her everlasting love will be your reward. If this is something that speaks to your heart, come meet her at an event today! Check back for more details as she continues to explore and learn!

Story
"He is perfect in every way," cooed the vet tech when we went back for a check-up. And she's right! Caleb is a sweet, friendly, and playful 3-year-old collie. He greets everyone he meets with a smile and a tail wag, expecting to be best friends right away. He's calm in the house and in the neighborhood - a confident guy, even the neighbor's howling werewolf doesn't faze him!    Caleb has corneal lipid/mineral deposits on his eyes.  Therefore, he must be kept on a low fat diet.   He is on meds for his eyes and it is best for him to be seen by a veterinary ophthalmologist.  We took him for a first visit and he has a follow up visit scheduled for January.  He does see well and we are hopeful that this is just a condition that will be best monitored with no further complications.    Caleb is very playful, and spends his days racing around the backyard with his younger foster brother. He gets along with all dogs, and enjoys playdates with all the neighbors - all the kids come to his house! On wooded hikes he stays on the end of the leash but doesn't pull too hard; in the neighborhood, though, he gets excited when he sees squirrels! He loves watching them through the front window and chasing them when they scramble along the backyard fence, too. Sadly, he's not quite agile or fast enough to catch one!   Caleb is a great house dog. He's firmly housebroken, doesn't get on furniture,  and doesn't make any attempt to run out when the front door is opened. He has a classic soft sable coat, is mid-sized (about 60 pounds), and he is all happiness and smiles! Caleb would love a home with a big yard and an energetic playmate. He is a sweet, sweet boy, and will bring love and joy to any family lucky enough to adopt him! If you are interested in rescuing a collie, please complete this short adoption questionnaire. Our standard adoption fee is $450. This fee helps us to cover (and sometimes only partially cover) the expense of providing each dog with a Health Exam, Rabies/DHPP vaccines, Heartworm Test, Heartworm Preventative, Flea & Tick Protection, Microchip, Neuter/Spay, a Bath and any other medical needs.  Thank you for your consideration in adopting a collie in need!!! Story
Introducing Tallulah, the companion you've been dreaming of! This gentle girl has a heart full of love and a laid-back attitude that makes her the best cuddle buddy. Tallulah enjoys the simple pleasures in life-whether it's curling up beside you for a cozy nap, basking in the sun, or soaking up attention from her favorite humans, she brings joy and warmth to the home. Tallulah's sweet nature makes it easy for her to connect with people, and she has a knack for finding her favorite cozy spots to unwind. Plus, she has a spotless record of no accidents in the house. This smart girl knows lots of words: "sit," "stay," "down," and "quiet" are just a few examples of her extensive vocabulary! Tallulah is still learning to share affection and toys with others and right now would do best in a home without another dog or young children. If you're looking for a loving and gentle addition to your home, Tallulah is all set to steal your heart! ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. Learn more, see our list of dogs needing foster, and apply, https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/foster-a-city-dog.html City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, Lepto and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained.
