Story
Molly is a very pretty girl and only about a year and a half old.  She definitely still has some puppy in her and loves to play with her foster brother and sister.  They are older than she is and occasionally have to remind her about appropriate play behavior.  She has learned quickly that her 13 year old foster sister has no interest in playing. She enjoys toys and tug-of-war and playing in what was likely her first snow.  She is housebroken, crate trained, walks well on a leash and loves attention but is still learning what "off" means.  She can be possessive of food but does just fine being fed in her crate.  She is up to date on her shots, microchipped, spayed and heartworm negative.  She will chase a squirrel in a second so probably needs to be in a home with no cats but would do well with another dog to play with.  We have not had her around children but so far she hasn't met a person she didn't like.  She'll need a family that will continue teaching her manners but you'll be rewarded with lots of love.  A fenced yard is required.  Molly is spayed, UTD on shots, micro chipped and on heart worm preventative.  Please apply at freedomcollierescue.org   ##2254780##

Story
Max is a big, perfect young collie boy! He weighs approximately 84 lbs and is 1 1/2 years old.  We would really like to find him a home with children, as he loves them! Max is extremely handsome, loves kids, ignores cats and loves having other dogs around, even small dogs.  He is very calm for a 1.5 year old, unless there’s a squirrel nearby that needs chasing!  He does not seem to be a big jumper so will need a good ergonomic bed.  He loves hugs.  He takes treats gently and walks like a dream on the leash.  He’s gentle, loving, obedient and sweet.  I just cannot say enough good things about Max. He has an old tail injury that caused a slight bone misalignment where it healed back a bit crookedly, but you have to work hard to discover it and it causes him no pain. He’s a bit difficult to load in the car right now and seems to be afraid of car rides, and drools a lot in the car.  You will have to boost his back end into the car, for now, due to his not-so-great jumping ability.   Max is learning that car rides lead to Petsmart, Whataburger, and other cool doggo destinations, in an effort to help him overcome his car anxiety. Max would love a home with cats and kids.  He is perfectly housebroken to a doggy door but reportedly can have separation anxiety if shut indoors when you leave home.  I have not seen this behavior here, where he has a doggie door, where he knows he has choices.  He has not needed to be crated at all, because he is not destructive.  He likes to sleep beside your bed at night, but if you help him on the bed, he’s happy to cuddle with you!  Max is a true treasure.  Max is neutered, UTD on shots, micro chipped and on heart worm preventative.  A fenced yard is required.  If you are interested in Max, please apply at freedomcollierescue.org ##2293595##

Story
Tofu loves everyone and everyone loves Tofu!  There is so much to love about him.  He is a handsome social butterfly and enjoys going on walks and meeting other dogs and people and is very good with children.  He is still learning how to walk better on a leash and will continue to need firm guidance until it's second nature to him.  Although he is 3 years old, he has the energy of a 1 year old!  He can be vocal when he gets excited or wants your attention.  He follows you around everywhere and adores being cuddled and petted.  He would fit right in with an active family with older children because of his size and strength.  He plays well with bigger dogs as well.  He is getting use to being exposed to different environments but still gets excited and will mellow out over time.  And when he's home, he settles down nicely and relaxes.  What's there not to love about Tofu? Story
McGregor is a 2yr old rough coat male that came into rescue after being found and no owner came forward. Unfortunately, due to very severe matting, while it is not preferred, he had to be shaved. Once his coat grows out, he will be even more handsome than he already is. He is pottied trained and barks very little for any dog, but especially a Collie. He doesn't care much for a crate and will rub his nose raw until he can get out. However, he is a good boy in the house and doesn't seem to be a chewer. He is a happy, healthy boy, ready for his forever home.  McGregor is a large boy, but a very gentle sole. His mission in life is to please his humans. He loves to play as much as possible, with people and other dogs. He is still trying to figure how to play with toys but the sound of a toy or the bounce of a ball really gets him excited. When playing with people he jumps around and gently mouths your hand. He will even play chase, but stays close so he can be a bit of a tripping hazard if you are not expecting it. He will jump on you, and while he is working on that, he is very gentle when he does it. If it isn't the time to play, he will gladly come lay his head in your lap or fall asleep at your feet. He is a sound sleeper and will not wake you up too early. If you want to sleep in, he will sleep in with you. When he goes for a walk, he is pretty good on a leash but he will just need a little more basic training, as he really does just want to please people. McGregor is currently living with multiple other dogs and while he is the largest, he is the most docile of all of them. You can't really find a more gentle boy. He gets along with all the other dogs in the home. He is very sweet and respectful. He eats in the kitchen with all the others without any issues. He will get along with any dog, as he is definitely not dominant. McGregor is such a sweet gentle boy, and he would make a great addition to any family. He just wants someone to love and to be love. Biscuit! Here is your new best friend! Biscuit is a big, friendly, goofy collie mix, around 10 months old, 60 lbs, and healthy. Biscuit loves people & attention and wants to follow you around, be petted and cuddled. He loves to sleep on your lap – a real lap dog! He is great with meeting new dogs and has good doggie manners. Biscuit can be a bit clumsy and just doesn’t know how big he is! If you have kids, they should be familiar with a larger dog. Biscuit is learning his manners and basic obedience, walks nicely on a leash, rides in a car, kennel trained, housebroken, and uses a doggie door. He would do best in a family with other pets or kids, but he can be adopted as an only dog if his people are able to spend time with him. He will not do well being left alone for hours. Biscuit is very smart, rarely barks, learns quickly, and is very sensitive to corrections. We do not have cats in the house, but we expect Biscuit will get along well with them based on his sisters (Breeze and Bonnie) who were recently adopted. Handsome Leo is 18 months old and looking for a family of his own. He weighs in the mid 50’s now but will fill out to the low to mid 60 lb range. He will also grow his mature collie coat over the next year. He has beautiful naturally tipped ears. He is neutered and current on vaccinations. Leo was pulled from a shelter after being found as a stray so we don’t know much about his past. But it isn’t hard to figure out he was an ignored outside dog. He has been working to learn the “how to be adopted” rules and is now a very nice family dog. He is healthy, sweet, affectionate, and good with other dogs. He would do well with children over the age of toddler. He is house trained. He doesn’t care for the crate and will let you know he isn’t happy but will settle down and rest after a short time. He goes in easily with a treat. I provide him with plenty of safe chew toys and he hasn’t destroyed anything in the house. Leo would be happiest with a young, playful dog friend. If his owners are home most of the time and he has a good size yard to run around in, he would be fine as an only dog too. If he has a shortcoming it’s that he doesn’t jump into the car and must be lifted. His new family will need a strong back as this boy fills out. But once in the car, he rides very well. He is very outgoing and confident in the house but is frightened when we go places. He just hasn’t seen much of the world is all. Introducing handsome and loving Beau!!! Beau is a rough collie about 4 years old. This special boy is a total love bug! He attaches to his person very quickly and claims them. He is an extreme cuddler most content sitting in his human’s lap. Beau loves his toys and great at playing fetch. He knows basic commands, walks well on a leash and is housetrained. Beau loves to play with other dogs and needs to have a buddy that is a bit submissive. He’s great with cats too! He’s also a gem on the grooming table. Beau is neutered and up to date on all vaccines. His owner passed away and was rehomed to a family that didn’t treat him very well. Beau is quite protective of his home if a visitor comes over. He should be kenneled or leashed when visitors come by. Poor guy is a bit storm phobic and will shake wanting comfort from you. Meet Miss Murphy! She is a 1.5 year old, spayed, tricolor female who is ready to steal your hearts! She is on the petite side, around 40lbs, but she is full of personality! She came to Houston Collie Rescue as an owner surrender, underweight and lacking vaccinations. She is now healthy and happy. Murphy can be a little shy when she first meets new people but soon becomes a loving collie once she gets to know you! She enjoys playing with other dogs but would also do well in an only dog home. For being such a petite package, she sure does attempt to be the alpha of the pack! She has big, beautiful brown eyes that will look into your soul, but she won’t think twice about giving you the side eye. Her personality is expressive, letting you know how she feels. Murphy is house and crate trained. At night, she would prefer to cuddle up with her humans and be a built-in space heater for their feet. She walks well on a leash. Murphy has been working on learning some basic commands and knows ‘sit!’ She also shows her good house manners by not counter surfing or stealing the toilet paper.
