PLEASE HELP!! I am now allergic to my dogs after my cancer meds. Lenny Needs plenty of space to run around and is an adventurous dog. His innate instinct of rounding up the herd comes in handy when I’m calling all my rescue pups in for meals. He is a big help and so smart. Lenny is a smaller collie possibly mixed with Chihuahua maybe? He was rescued from being abandoned in a parking lot as a puppy. He is timid, quiet and shy at first but loves to be petted. He needs to always be isolated during feeding times or he will not eat. He cannot eat certain meat foods like beef, lamb, or pork. He favors more salmon, white fish, chicken, and turkey. His skin will turn red and itchy with red meat especially. He will do great in a big backyard with lots of space to run around in.

Here's what the humans have to say about me: Meet Major Say hello to Major! My story Here's what the humans have to say about me: Meet Major! I love this dog! Major is an adorable Cattle Dog mix who is approximately 1.5 years old and currently weighs 45 pounds. He was found on the side of the road with his two brothers in south Texas near the border of Mexico. The puppies were starving, covered with fleas and ticks and were just in terrible condition. Thankfully a private rescuer was able to help these puppies and get them into our care. Major is happy, playful and very smart boy! He loves everyone he meets and is always ready for adventure! He has the best time playing with his toys and enjoys romping around the play yard with the other dogs in his play group. He loves getting attention and affection will make a very loving companion. Major has fun adventurous personality, which would make for a great hiking, running or agility buddy and we can really see him doing well growing up in just about any family environment. Here is a fun short additional video! https://youtu.be/eYqujJO3800?si=hLN2BDheQHFTxwJR Major loves the water! https://youtu.be/-VIGthWotq8?si=1yXS-TidmR_-Y8Ux Major is located at our rescue in Hondo, Texas and is available for transport to St. Augustine, Florida on December 21st, with approved application! Story
Izzie is a wonderful Cattle Dog Boxer mix who is approximately 4 years old and weighs 50 pounds. She was found living on the streets in a neighborhood in Weslaco, Texas near the border of Mexico. Everyone knew who she was, but no-one claimed her as their own. She was pregnant and had her babies under an abandoned trailer home. Local children heard the puppies crying and they crawled under the house to pull all of them out ! She did a good job of taking care of her babies. She is just such a sweet mama dog. All of that is behind her now! Izzie is such sweet girl with the most wonderful disposition. She is friendly, playful and is always happy to jump in the car and go on an adventure. She loves love love riding in the car, and would honestly make a great traveling companion! She loves everyone she meets and her tail is always wagging. Izzie gets along well with the other dogs in her group here at the rescue and is learning that toys are pretty cool, too. She is crate trained for her meals and for sleeping but if you asked Izzie, curling up next to her people in a warm bed would be a-ok with her as well. We just love this girl and can see her doing well in just about any family environment! Izzies updated video! We love her! https://youtu.be/HyGle1h6j3w?si=Ee0LDgfMYpt-DF04 Izzie is located in at our rescue in Hondo, Texas and is available for transport to St Augustine, FL on December 21st. She is spayed, up to date on all shots, and microchipped. A generous donor has offered to pay half of Izzie's adoption fee, so her adoption fee is $200. The fee includes the transport cost. Izzie tested positive for Chagas disease and has completed her treatment. The great news is she has completed her treatment and will get her follow up blood work done on Dec 4th to confirm she is NEGATIVE! We are so happy for her! This is completely curable after treatment and dogs can go on to live long and happy lives. Our rescue is one of the first to do Chagas testing for all of the dogs in our care and is having measurable success in the treatment protocol. Story
Introducing Auburn! Auburn is a beautiful Cattle Dog / Heeler mix who is approximately 2 years old and currently weighs 30 pounds. We rescued this gorgeous gal from the Hondo, TX shelter and although we don’t really know much bout he background, it is clear that people have not always been very kind to her. During her spay surgery, our vet discovered that she had been shot in the leg with a pellet gun. All of that is behind her now and we are excited to help this sweet girl find the loving home she deserves. Auburn is a gentle and curious. She needs someone who will go slow with her so that she can feel comfortable knowing that she will be treated kindly. Once she feels safe, she loves getting attention and affection. She gets along well with the other dogs in her playgroup and is happy and playful! With patience and lots of love we know Auburn will blossom and become a wonderful, loving companion to her new family. She is just waiting for that special person to understand her! She has a heart of gold and shows ZERO aggression of any kind. Sweet, submissive and needs one on one time and love, that we cannot give her here at the rescue. Auburn is located at our rescue in Hondo, Texas. She is spayed, up to date on all shots, microchipped and her adoption fee is $325. A meet and greet will be arranged with an approved application. Auburn tested positive for Chagas disease and has started her treatment. This is completely curable after treatment and dogs can go on to live long and happy lives. Our rescue is one of the first to do Chagas testing for all of the dogs in our care and is having measurable success in the treatment protocol. We are also focused on continued education and awareness of Chagas to help even more dogs.
