Story
These babies were brought to us after a lady’s neighbor left the pregnant mama. She kept the mom but could not keep her babies. This is a fun group of pups! They get along with strangers, kids and other dogs. They do well in a crate, usually just go to sleep. They would do well on hikes or other outside adventures. They are in a puppy teething mode so beware of fingers!! They are in need of all basic puppy training and just loads of love! A wonderful addition to any family. She is currently being fostered in TN but we use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport.

Story
Meet Maverick! Maverick is just a baby who is still learning what being a dog is all about and is catching on very quickly. Whether it’s cats or dogs, if it’s got fur and it moves, Maverick automatically wants to play with it. This can be frustrating for senior dogs, while younger dogs will think that it’s great. Maverick likes to play with toys but gets easily distracted by the brand new world that is waiting for him to explore. Because Maverick is still learning manners, he would fit best in a home with older children. While he does well with not jumping on his foster mom, it is possible that he could accidentally knock a smaller child down. Overall, Maverick is pretty gentle and likes to snuggle with his foster mom from time to time. His crate training is coming along nicely and he can currently go for about five hours before needing to be let out. If Maverick sounds like your dog, complete an application at https://www.saveastray.org/forms/form?formid=3635 Thank you for your interest in a Save a Stray pet. The first step is to complete an adoption application. https://www.saveastray.org/forms/form?formid=3635 Once the application is approved, a FaceTime will be set up for a virtual meet and greet. Since we are located in Mobile, AL, this will give you the opportunity to see the pet interact with other dogs, people, and see a bit of their personality. Transports leave every week alternating between the NE and the Great Lakes. We use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport.

Story
ABOUT DELILAH Looking for a silly collie? Meet Delilah! She is a 7-year-old Border Collie mix who loves to play. Delilah came to HAP when her owners son developed an allergy to her. After spending her whole life in a home, Delilah was a little nervous at first to be in the shelter. She can be shy around new people, likely from losing her family. However, with patience and treats, she is quick to warm up and trust! Once you have gained her trust she wants to spend all of her time with you whether its cuddling, playing, or begging for treats. She also loves any and all toys, especially bones and stuffies. When she's not playing with our staff, she is likely curled up on her bed in an adorable sweater for a nap. Delilah is already house-trained, walks well on a leash, and knows basic commands. She has previously lived with children and does well with most dogs. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.

Story
Are you looking for some joy to beat the winter blues? Well, meet Joy! This 3 year-old collie mix is sure to melt the blues away. She is 32 pounds of fun, from scampering in the backyard with her foster family's resident dogs, to sniffing on the walks she loves, to snuggling while watching football, to TRYING to climb a tree after a cocky squirrel, to showing off her balancing act by strutting on her back legs (yep--her foster family calls her the "Dancing Queen"). Joy is house-trained, spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on all her vaccinations. Her fur almost glistens and she has  some subtle tan spots on her face. Check out those soft ears that  often tilt forward. Joy is working on getting more confident when she meets unfamiliar dogs she encounters when walking on leash. Back at home, she loves pulling dog toys from the bin and carrying them to one of her many favorite spots. Who knows--maybe Joy will be bringing an extra dose of love to your Valentine's Day. If you are interested in applying for Joy, email  almosthome4dogs@yahoo.com   (Local adoptions preferred — Philadelphia and tri-state area [South Jersey and northern Delaware] only.) PLEASE READ BEFORE CONTACTING US! We are NOT a shelter: All of our dogs live in private homes with foster families. We do not have an online adoption application; to request an application, e-mail us at AlmostHome4Dogs@yahoo.com. Can you open your heart and home for a few weeks to homeless shelter dog? Remember, by fostering a dog, you save TWO lives — that of your foster dog, and that of the dog who takes his place in the shelter! Come to a Meet & Greet and find out if fostering is for you — there's no reward quite like the feeling that you've saved a life ... or two!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 31, 2025, 9:52 pm
