Story
These babies were brought to us after a lady’s neighbor left the pregnant mama. She kept the mom but could not keep her babies. This is a fun group of pups! They get along with strangers, kids and other dogs. They do well in a crate, usually just go to sleep. They would do well on hikes or other outside adventures. They are in a puppy teething mode so beware of fingers!! They are in need of all basic puppy training and just loads of love! A wonderful addition to any family. She is currently being fostered in TN but we use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport.

Story
Meet Maverick! Maverick is just a baby who is still learning what being a dog is all about and is catching on very quickly. Whether it’s cats or dogs, if it’s got fur and it moves, Maverick automatically wants to play with it. This can be frustrating for senior dogs, while younger dogs will think that it’s great. Maverick likes to play with toys but gets easily distracted by the brand new world that is waiting for him to explore. Because Maverick is still learning manners, he would fit best in a home with older children. While he does well with not jumping on his foster mom, it is possible that he could accidentally knock a smaller child down. Overall, Maverick is pretty gentle and likes to snuggle with his foster mom from time to time. His crate training is coming along nicely and he can currently go for about five hours before needing to be let out. If Maverick sounds like your dog, complete an application at https://www.saveastray.org/forms/form?formid=3635 Thank you for your interest in a Save a Stray pet. The first step is to complete an adoption application. https://www.saveastray.org/forms/form?formid=3635 Once the application is approved, a FaceTime will be set up for a virtual meet and greet. Since we are located in Mobile, AL, this will give you the opportunity to see the pet interact with other dogs, people, and see a bit of their personality. Transports leave every week alternating between the NE and the Great Lakes. We use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport.

Story
Hi!  My name is Susie and I am looking for a forever home.  Me and my 4 puppies were surrendered to a scary place called a shelter by our owners.  All of my puppies got adopted and then I ended up on something bad called "the list".  Fortunately for me, a nice lady with a local rescue saw me and sprung me from that place; she then contacted BCAA to see if they could help me and they said yes!  I appear to be a mix of collie and not sure what else, but whatever I am mixed with my foster mom says I'm a super sweet girl 'cause all I want is to be with you and get some loving.  Before coming to my BCAA foster, my previous foster mom had grandkids over and said I was real good with them, too.  They all gave me lots of treats and food (maybe a little too much as I'm now on a diet to get my girlish figure back).  I am aroud 5years old so I'm past all of that puppy foolishness, and I'm currently 57 pounds.  I can be a little shy when I first meet new people, but just give me a little time and some TLC and I will be your friend forever.  I have gotten along with the other medium/small dogs I have met and haven't bothered those things called cats that I've encountered.  I've done super good in my crate without any accidents, barking or tearing up of any bedding, but I would definitely prefer to be out cuddling with you.  I love my food and treats which I take gently.  I've done good on leash but do pull some in my excitement on being out with you.  If you would like to meet me, please fill out an application which can be found at www.bcaaofnj.org.Interested in adopting this pet?Click here for BCAA's on-line Application! PLEASE NOTE: Our adoption fee helps to cover our expenses and includes all shots, *age appropriate*, distemper and rabies, fecal check, spay/neuter, heartworm test, grooming, and in many cases dental and also the fee we pay when we rescue from a shelter. Story
Are you looking for some joy to beat the winter blues? Well, meet Joy! This 3 year-old collie mix is sure to melt the blues away. She is 32 pounds of fun, from scampering in the backyard with her foster family's resident dogs, to sniffing on the walks she loves, to snuggling while watching football, to TRYING to climb a tree after a cocky squirrel, to showing off her balancing act by strutting on her back legs (yep--her foster family calls her the "Dancing Queen"). Joy is house-trained, spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on all her vaccinations. Her fur almost glistens and she has  some subtle tan spots on her face. Check out those soft ears that  often tilt forward. Joy is working on getting more confident when she meets unfamiliar dogs she encounters when walking on leash. Back at home, she loves pulling dog toys from the bin and carrying them to one of her many favorite spots. Who knows--maybe Joy will be bringing an extra dose of love to your Valentine's Day. If you are interested in applying for Joy, email  almosthome4dogs@yahoo.com   (Local adoptions preferred — Philadelphia and tri-state area [South Jersey and northern Delaware] only.) PLEASE READ BEFORE CONTACTING US! We are NOT a shelter: All of our dogs live in private homes with foster families. Come and meet the Almost Home dogs and their fosters at our Meet & Greet events, where you can learn more about our wonderful dogs from the people who live with them, find out which dogs are on their way and when they’ll arrive, and fill out an application to adopt or foster. We cannot adopt to homes where electric-shock fencing systems or training collars are used. For more information on the dangers of electric-shock collars, please visit banshockcollars.ca/studies.php . We do not have an online adoption application; to request an application, e-mail us at AlmostHome4Dogs@yahoo.com. To speed e-mail processing time, be sure to note the name of the dog you are inquiring about in the Subject line. For Meet & Greet times and locations, visit our home page, where you also will find information on our adoption process and fees. FOSTER FAMILIES ARE LIFESAVERS!! Can you open your heart and home for a few weeks to homeless shelter dog? Remember, by fostering a dog, you save TWO lives — that of your foster dog, and that of the dog who takes his place in the shelter! Come to a Meet & Greet and find out if fostering is for you — there's no reward quite like the feeling that you've saved a life ... or two!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 11, 2025, 7:48 pm

Story
Meet Absolute Joy! This energetic, 1-year-old German Shepherd mix is the definition of pure happiness. With her sweet personality and big bark, she’s a softy at heart who just wants to be your best friend. Absolute Joy is always thrilled to see you, and though she's working on her manners (she might jump for joy when she greets you!), it’s just because she can’t contain her excitement! Absolute Joy is an enthusiastic chewer who loves her chew toys, especially when they come with tasty treats. Cod sticks, yak chews, and bully sticks are some of her favorites! She’s also crazy about her snuffle mat – meal times are even more exciting when she gets to enjoy her food while working for it. Absolute Joy has a playful side, and although she’s not into fetch, she’s always ready to run around and have a blast outside. She’s a natural adventurer and would be the perfect hiking companion. Nature is her happy place, and she’s always up for exploring new trails with you. And if you’ve got a box around, watch out – Absolute Joy hasn’t met one she can’t tear apart! For her, peanut butter-filled Kongs are the ultimate treat, making her heart full of joy. If you're looking for a spirited, loving, and fun puppy to bring into your home, Absolute Joy is ready to fill your life with happiness and adventure! Story
In the spring of 2023, we got a call about 4 dogs who were in bad shape and living in the woods a couple of hours from me. We set traps and were able to rescue 2 of the 4. We tried and tried to get the other 2, but we were unable to do so. Some of the local people continued to try to get them, as well, but couldn’t. I am still very sad about having to leave them behind. Chester and Chloe were near death when we rescued them. They were starving, their skin was horrible, and of course, they had every known parasite. They are healthy now. Chloe is still very shy, and I feel that she needs a special home with a lot of love, patience and attention! We do not see any aggression in her. She has been at Blue Ribbon Kennels now for 14 months and needs a forever and loving home so badly. She has never had the opportunity to live inside a house and to be part of a family. Chloe is in Mississippi. When adopted, she will come fully vetted and will be transported by Rescue Riders, a very reliable transporter. All of this is included in her adoption fee.
