Story
Earlier this year, Alyce and her sister Jenny were waiting in an overcrowded southern shelter for a rescue to promise them a future filled with love. Their bodies told a story of a hard first year of life, but their spirits remained unbroken.  After months of care and love in a southern foster home, Alyce joined us in PA just in time for the holiday season. She made a wonderful transition into a multi dog home and picked up on the new routine in just two days.  Alyce has a quiet, gentle and loving demeanor with just the right amount of fun and excitement mixed in. She has an insatiable love for life and while she can be a tad shy at first meet, she settles in quickly and looks to her person for reassurance if needed in unfamiliar situations. She is a petite, medium sized girl and has the best ear (one stands up straight - all the better to hear you with my dear ) There is no shortage of love with this girl - she loves to let you know you’re loved - with lots of kisses!  Alyce walks nicely on a leash and enjoys the outdoors. She walks by neighborhood cats, squirrels, bunnies etc with zero interest in them. Alyce is crate trained and quiet when crated. She is an all around great girl and will make an adopter so very happy! Alyce is being fostered in Reading (Berks County), Pennsylvania and will be ready to join her furever family on or after 1/4/2025 www.mostlymuttz.org https://facebook.com/mostlymuttz #mostlymuttzrescue #rescuedogsrock #adoptdontshop #adoptable #totalsweetheart https://facebook.com/mostlymuttz PA Kennel License: 10872 PO Box 406 Gilbertsville, PA 19525 ##2055883##

Story
Riley, thought to be born in January or February of 2015 is a tricolor, smooth coat, collie/border collie mix with some brindle markings on his legs. He has experienced 2 failed adoptions. He was adopted from us when he was about 6 months old and was returned to us 3 years later when the male member of the adoptive family, who had Alzheimer’s, became abusive toward him. In time he began developing his self-confidence again and began to lose his fear of men. Even though he was still somewhat leery of men he didn’t know, he would actually seek attention from men with whom he was familiar. He got along well with the dogs in his foster home but he behaved aggressively toward any new foster dog that periodically come in. He is not good with cats as he showed aggression toward the clinic cat at our vet’s office. Riley was adopted a second time, but after a year of trying different techniques to manage Riley’s difficult behaviors his second adopter felt that she could no longer handle him and once again Riley was returned to us. He left us weighing 55 pounds and returned, markedly overweight, at 78 pounds. He is now back to a healthy weight of 55 pounds. Riley has had extensive training. He is quite smart and learns quickly. He rides well in a car and walks well on a leash unless he meets a dog while out on the walk, in which case he will pull and act aggressively. Riley is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, is heartworm negative and is being kept on heartworm and flea and tick prevention to maintain his good health. Riley is currently in Arkansas. His adoption donation is $415 which includes the $1655 transport fee. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers. After you submit your application, please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home. Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in

Story
ABOUT DELILAH Looking for a silly collie? Meet Delilah! She is a 7-year-old Border Collie mix who loves to play. Delilah came to HAP when her owners son developed an allergy to her. After spending her whole life in a home, Delilah was a little nervous at first to be in the shelter. She can be shy around new people, likely from losing her family. However, with patience and treats, she is quick to warm up and trust! Once you have gained her trust she wants to spend all of her time with you whether its cuddling, playing, or begging for treats. She also loves any and all toys, especially bones and stuffies. When she's not playing with our staff, she is likely curled up on her bed in an adorable sweater for a nap. Delilah is already house-trained, walks well on a leash, and knows basic commands. She has previously lived with children and does well with most dogs. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.
