We post our available dogs in states across the east coast and Canada to reach as many people as possible in hopes to find perfect homes and families. We do not transport dogs, families must come to the rescue to meet and then hopefully take home.. MARGO is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, heartworm and tick tested negative, is on monthly flea/tick prevention and was given the 12 month pro-heart heartworm prevention injection in February 2025. She is microchipped and on 12 February weighed 58.20 pounds. She has an estimated date of birth of January 2023. We do not know what the breed is, we expect families to decide looking at any pictures and video's provide and decide if the breed is a good fit for their family. The shelter volunteer stated (8 January) Dog didn't mind the other and made way away from others to relax to self for some time and showed some playful energy with the others once getting warmed up with the group. (16 January) High energy, jumpy, social with people, loose wiggly body, wants to play and run, high energy. (22 January) During the observation Margo was a good girl, she listens to the command sit and has a burst of energy. (28 January) High energy, jumpy, knows sit, knows shake, leash puller. Social with dogs and people, loose wiggly body. Love bug, wants to play, wants to run, solicits pets. Knows sit, shake, energetic, jumper, loves to run interests in dogs leash reactive.  (Rescue comments - it is important to take into account when reading these comments that these dogs are in a strange environment with a lot of dogs, and they are learning about each other in a very small space of time, it is high stimulation environment, also often the first time they have had exercise with other dogs.  Comments are from volunteers, not trainers or behavio rists). We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks. MARGO is available for adoption for an adoption fee of $550, as noted she is located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine and families are required to complete and submit an  adoption application and when approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue to meet and hopefully take home this sweet girl. Applications are processed with 24 hours of them being received. Story
If Jenni looks familiar, that’s because her sister Alyce came through our rescue and was scooped up just a few weeks ago.  Recently arriving to PA, Jenni is adjusting nicely in her new foster home. Jenni loves everyone and gets along well with her fosters dogs. This pup has the sweetest disposition and is content just to curl up on the couch with you. Good with dogs and children, Jenni is crate trained, housebroken, knows basic commands and walks well on a leash. Jenni will be ready for her new home on (or after) Valentine’s Day — which is also her 2nd birthday! If you're looking for a loyal companion and easy transition, consider Jenni!  Jenni is being fostered in Gilbertsville (Montgomery County), Pennsylvania. Note:  Jenni is currently undergoing treatment for heartworm disease. Please don’t let this keep you from adopting her - it is not contagious and is curable. Story
Are you looking for some joy while you wait for spring? Well, meet Joy! This 3-year-old collie mix is 35 pounds of spunky fun, from exploring and scampering in the backyard with her foster family’s resident dogs, to sniffing on the walks she loves, to TRYING to climb a tree after a cocky squirrel, to showing off her balancing act by strutting on her back legs (yep—her foster family calls her the “Dancing Queen”). Joy is house-trained, spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on all her vaccinations. She loves bring outside so she would be a wonderful companion when garden chores kick back in. Joy is working on getting more confident when she meets unfamiliar dogs she encounters when walking on leash. Back at home, she loves pulling dog toys from the bin and carrying them to one of her many favorite spots. If you are interested in applying for Joy, e-mail: almosthome4dogs@yahoo.com or check the Almost Home Dog Rescue website at AHDR.org.  (Local adoptions preferred — Philadelphia and tri-state area [South Jersey and northern Delaware] only.) Story
URGENT! Foster, foster-to-adopt or adopter needed for Zoe!    Zoe is a 9 year old  brown-eyed beauty who weighs about 90 pounds. She is a very sweet and well-behaved girl looking for a soft place to land. Her family's living situation has changed and she needs a new forever home. Zoe is looking to live in a quiet suburban area as she finds city life way too overwhelming and stressful.   Zoe walks nicely on a leash and would love a home where she can spend lots of time outside basking in the sun. She is house trained but may need some time to adjust to a new schedule and home. Zoe is good with kids! She also has been good with other dogs but is a bit stressed right now so slow intros to any other dogs would be needed. Zoe has never been around cats.   Zoe urgently needs a way to get out of the city and into a home where she is comfortable and happy again. If you can help Zoe please email us at almosthome4dogs@yahoo.com!   (Local adoptions preferred — Philadelphia and tri-state area [South Jersey and northern Delaware] only.)
