It is with a heavy heart that I must rehome my 6 y/o collie mix, and I am hoping someone here can help in this matter, if anything, by spreading the word to your community. I adopted Sola in November 2020. She will be 6 in April. She's an amazing dog. She is fantastic off leash, has great recall, is smarter than a whip, and is devoutly loyal. She was not a promising prospect when I adopted her, and I truly believe the freedom, trust, and confidence she gained from her off-leash life in NE Ohio completely transformed her. We moved to Philly 7 months ago and she is not adjusting. Between the constant chatter and passersby outside of our window and her being leashed up and understimulated, the situation has been extremely stressful for the both of us, causing her digestive issues and depression. I no longer have the resources or capacity to meet her needs and care for her. Ideally, she'd be with a rural family. She takes time to warm up.

Meet Maverick! Maverick is just a baby who is still learning what being a dog is all about and is catching on very quickly. Whether it’s cats or dogs, if it’s got fur and it moves, Maverick automatically wants to play with it. This can be frustrating for senior dogs, while younger dogs will think that it’s great. Maverick likes to play with toys but gets easily distracted by the brand new world that is waiting for him to explore. Because Maverick is still learning manners, he would fit best in a home with older children. While he does well with not jumping on his foster mom, it is possible that he could accidentally knock a smaller child down. Overall, Maverick is pretty gentle and likes to snuggle with his foster mom from time to time. His crate training is coming along nicely and he can currently go for about five hours before needing to be let out.
