Story
Meet Amber, a girl whose name couldn’t be more fitting. Just like the soft glow of amber itself, she radiates warmth, comfort, and a gentle kind of joy that reaches you the moment you meet her. At 2 years old and 65 pounds, this gorgeous Collie mix is the very definition of a loving companion—sweet, affectionate, and always hoping to be close enough for you to feel the steady beat of her loyal heart. Amber’s story began in a tiny rural community, where she wandered alone until kind locals stepped in to help her. No one came forward to claim her, but maybe that’s because her real family is still out there—someone who will recognize that she was meant for them. When Critter Cavalry Rescue brought her in, they immediately saw it: her remarkable intelligence, her eagerness to bond, and her gentle, soulful spirit. Amber enjoys every simple pleasure with pure gratitude—exploring the world on her harness, leaning in for affection, and curling up with her beloved stuffed bunny, who has become her constant companion. She loves being brushed, loves being talked to, and really loves being included. Amber gets along with other dogs, though her enthusiasm may be a bit much for calmer companions. As for cats… well, they’re a little mysterious and intimidating to her. But people? She adores them—wholeheartedly. This beautiful girl is ready to become someone’s heart dog… that once-in-a-lifetime companion who fills a home with warmth, softness, and quiet devotion. If you are looking for a dog who will love you with her whole soul, who will share every moment by your side, and who will glow with gratitude for the rest of her life, Amber may be the one you’ve been waiting for.   If you are interested please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com  PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.November 22, 2025, 9:52 pm

Story
1.5 years old, 49 lbs Personality: outgoing, calm, good running partner, quiet, playful, snuggler, goofy/funny, gentle, and affectionate. Jake is a sweet, goofy, affectionate boy. He sits, cuddles, and lays in the weirdest positions, and loves being close to his humans. Calm but active, he loves playing with other dogs, including his foster brother. He's also great with cats! This curious, happy guy loves being outside and really enjoys meeting people. His favorite outdoor activity is sniffing– he likes to know what everyone is up to! Jake is a smart cookie who already knows the words “sit,” “wait,” and “off." He's also house trained. Jake would do best in a quieter neighborhood while he learns to become comfortable when he sees other dogs while out on walks. If this funny boy seems like he could be a great fit for you, apply today so you can meet him! ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. Please contact Destiny Sibert (DestinyS@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.Sweet Lady Seeking Family of Her Own! SHELBY NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:    Shelby        Best Guess for Breed:   Collie/Shepherd Mix      Best Guess for Age:    3 years as of Dec. 2025       SEX:    Female   Approximate Weight:    40 lbs   Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen them with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:    Lucky Dog's South Carolina rescue campus. She needs a foster or adopter to secure her freedom ride to the DC area.    Special adoption considerations: Shelby is a truly Lucky Dog. She tested positive for heartworms, but landed in a place where heartworm treatment is provided! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment. We are happy to discuss where in the treatment process this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left!   Shelby is Looking For:   Her forever home! This sweet girl landed in the shelter through no fault of her own. At three years old, she's past her puppy days but is up for adventure - she's eager for sniffy walks and world exploration with her humans! A cushy dog bed, quality kibble, and lots of snuggles round out her wish list. What do you say? Do you have space in your home and your heart for Shelby? What My Foster Says About Me:   Shelby needs a foster!   Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:    The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament.   To learn more about Lucky Dog, please visit www.luckydoganimalrescue.org   .    BE A FOSTER!!!    Fosters make it possible for Lucky Dog Animal Rescue to save and care for homeless and abandoned dogs!  To learn about fostering, please contact    fostering@luckydoganimalrescue.org   ! Story
-ESTIMATE WEIGHT FULL GROWN: 40 lbs -ESTIMATED AGE: 5.6 years KNOWN WITH DOGS: Very friendly towards all so far, and pulls to say hi when he sees them on his walks! Copper previously lived with another dog and was very attached to him. KNOWN WITH CATS: Unknown. Can be tested if needed. KNOWN WITH KIDS: Would likely get along well with them, because he is so sweet and docile. Because he can be high-energy and excitable, and has occasionally jumped up to say hi to new friends, however, he is probably better suited to a home without very small children. KNOWN COMMANDS: Has recently learned “sit”, “come”, “lie down”, “no”, “go to your bed”, and is working on mastering these. KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING: Had a few minor accidents within the first 24 hours of being in his new foster home but has not had one since. Working on crate training. KNOWN LIKES: Playing with all his squeaky toys and carrying them around the house; doing anything outdoors - long walks, games of fetch in the yard, chasing squirrels, saying hi to people and dogs on his daily walks; and getting lots of cuddles and kisses from his humans. KNOWN DISLIKES: Being left alone. Copper is a true Velcro dog who loves to be near his people at all times. When confined and not able to see his humans, he experiences separation anxiety. Notes from the foster: Copper is the sweetest, most gentle cuddle bug who loves to be around his people 24/7. He is active and energetic outdoors (the ultimate exercise and hiking buddy!) and a relaxed couch potato who loves getting hugs and pets when he’s indoors. He’s very patient and tolerant when being handled - i.e getting carried into a bath, having his ears cleaned and paws touched. He is also a super smart boy who loves Learning and is very eager to please. His biggest challenge in his new foster home is overcoming his fear of being left alone (which is the only time he has barked/whined.) Story
Charlie is a good dog who got a bad start.  We have no knowledge of his history and where he came from, but we are pretty sure he has not lived in a house with people.  When he first came to us, he hid from the dishwasher, barked at the television and ran away when first presented with stuffed toys.  He remains easily spooked by noise, but is improving – getting used to the dishwasher, the television, the stuffed dog toys and other day-to-day items in the house.  Physically, he was in pretty bad condition - He was positive for tick illnesses (we gave him Doxy and he is doing bettter now), his coat and skin were in horrible condition (we've given him good nutrition and he's looking a lot better), his teeth were Grade 3 dental disease (we gave him a dental and they are all clean now)!  Charlie weighs about 63 lbs. Charlie is a quick learner, and is adapting to life in a home with his foster collie sister.  He is learning commands and is starting to recognize his name.  We do not crate him, but leave it open and he often sleeps in there.  He is respectful of the house and items in it, and does not jump on the furniture.  He is very cooperative - He pretty much will stand still for almost anything if you ask him to especially if you scratch him – he loves to be scratched.  He grooms well, and is very affectionate.  His fur is growing in nicely since he needed to have some extensive matting shaved.   He’s very focused on understanding and fitting into his new environment.  He watches intensely and you can see the wheels turning as he tries to figure it all out.  He is interested in other dogs and people, and has shown no aggression toward either – but he will bark in the backyard at passing people (and squirrels) with his sister, who loves to do that.  He has shown interest in playing with other dogs, though we have not yet allowed that. Charlie is quite smart and very eager to please. We estimate his age to be about 6 years old.  If you are interested in rescuing a collie, please complete this short adoption questionnaire. Our standard adoption fee is $450. This fee helps us to cover (and sometimes only partially cover) the expense of providing each dog with a Health Exam, Rabies/DHPP vaccines, Heartworm Test, Heartworm Preventative, Flea & Tick Protection, Microchip, Neuter/Spay, a Bath and any other medical needs.  Thank you for your consideration in adopting a collie in need!!!
