Story
This friend has just arrived because their owner could no longer keep them. While owners can provide some history on their pets, our medical and behavioral teams will still evaluate them. Dogs that have lived in homes previously typically have some training established, but we cannot guarantee that those behaviors will remain consistent in a new home environment. They are pending interactions with other animals at the shelter until they have been cleared by our vet. Our staff will spend some time getting to know them and we will update their bio with more information as we learn. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.
We'll also keep you updated on Cassidy's adoption status with email updates.

Story
Cassidy found herself on the euthanasia list at a local shelter. Not because she had anything wrong with her, but just because the shelters are currently so overwhelmed. Luckily, we were able to find a foster for her and it turns out she is a great girl! At 6 years old, she is settled, housebroken, crate-trained, and has good house manners. We haven’t yet seen her around kids, but have no reason to believe she wouldn’t be OK with them. She likes most dogs as long as they realize she isn’t a young playful pup anymore and would rather just hang out with them rather than roughhouse. She likes to follow her people around and hang out with them. If you would like to make Cassidy a part of your family, please fill out an app! My Profile Age and weight: I'm 6 years old and weigh 38 pounds Good with kids: Unknown Good with dogs: Some dogs Good with cats: Unknown Fenced yard: No Suitable for townhouse and/or apartment: Yes House trained: Yes. Crate trained: Yes Barks when left alone: I’ll bark when you leave, but then I’ll settle down Chews inappropriate items: No Training: I know 'Sit.' Is there more? Activity level: Medium Meet Me If you are interested in Cassidy, consider letting us know by filling out a (no-obligation) adoption application at pgspca.org. Please consult our Adoption FAQ before contacting us. Please check the adoption-show-attendees page to see if Cassidy will be attending the next adoption show. NOTE: We are an all volunteer group and do not operate a shelter. All of our animals are in foster homes. We are unable to place our animals outside of the Baltimore/DC area.

Looking for a very smart gal full of energy and enthusiasm for life and a good play session? Then I'm your gal! Not only am I friendly with dogs, I absolutely love people and attention. I know my name and some basic commands, and I am very food motivated, so training is a fun play session for me, as I will be all ears (and nose) looking to please you!  I could use some leash training as I am a very enthusiastic walker, and a bit strong, but I am learning the basics. I love children too, but I am prone to jumping up on people to give them hugs and love, so I might unintentionally knock over a little one. So, I do need encouragement to keep four on the floor.  I will need an active home, but I also like to cuddle I promise to bring joy, laughter, and an endless supply of love into your life. Adopt me, and let's create wonderful memories together!Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet.       Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSPONSOR ME! Help Save Lives!    Make a tax-deductible donation today and help save a life. She is a young and sweet South Carolina girl on the hunt for her forever home. She can be a little shy with people, but warms up quickly and once she does, you'll have a true friend in Apple. Apple can be a bit dog selective and likely would do best in a home where she is the only dog. Despite her initial shyness, Apple has a lot of unconditional love and loyalty to give. She's just waiting for that special someone who will be hers forever. Could that person be you? Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training.
