Story
A beautiful update from Sybil's foster :) ------ I've had Sybil for about two months now. She was with a foster who couldn't keep her anymore, so I met her immediately and knew she had a great temperament and was a good dog. It was definitely worth bringing her home and working with her. I have a kennel for the foster dogs, and they all have their own large yard. And man, is she having fun! She loves romping in her yard. She meets the other dogs when I walk them, prancing around as they go by her run. She is one happy dog. She has a good amount of energy but isn't hyper. She is doing great in my kennel. She is pretty good about staying calm and not joining in the barkfest when everyone else is excited. She's great with me and independent, but she likes her pats occasionally. She leans on my leg and sometimes falls over for belly rubs. When I clean her yard, she follows me around. She's not overly demanding, which I appreciate. She's going to make someone a very dedicated and fun friend. She's a good dog and will be even better and more stable when she leaves here. She's worth the effort and will be an excellent companion for some lucky person.

This hazel eyed beauty is a gentle soul. She can be shy when first meeting new people. When she warms up, she's very snuggly and absolutely loves pets and scratches! She believes in the power of puppy kisses and is very affectionate.  She adores other dogs and would thrive best in a home with another dog (or several!). She not only loves to play with other dogs, but also loves to chew on toys and bones and can keep her self busy for hours. When she's feeling lazy, her favorite place to be is at her person's feet to take a snooze.    She's crate trained and progressing nicely with potty training.    If interested, please  complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Story
Meet Canon! This adorable 4-month-old pup is a little shy at first, but once he warms up, he’s an adventurous and curious soul who loves to explore. Canon is a smart boy, and he’s already mastered the art of sitting for treats – he’s a total snack lover! He’s mostly potty trained, though he still needs the occasional reminder. Canon is especially fond of snuggling up for cozy cuddle sessions and showering you with sweet kisses. He gets along great with both kids and other dogs, making him an ideal family companion. He’s full of energy and loves running and playing outside. Canon would do best in a home with a fenced yard as he has not perfected his leash skills yet.  Oh, and don’t forget his cuteness – he has the sweetest curly tail and just one pink toe that adds to his charm. If you're looking for a playful, loving, and loyal friend, Canon is the pup for you!   If interested, please  complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Kodak is such a sweet natured and sensitive lady. She does take some time to warm up to new people and can be timid at first. Once she does, she loves to cuddle up in your leg nook and get ear scritches.    With time, her goofy and sweet side start to shine! She has such a playful and quirky personality. She LOVES to play with toys and bones, but really loves to play with other dogs! She'd do best on a home with another dog.   She is a total foodie and can be motivated to learn almost anything for treats. She currently knows "kennel up", "sit" and "down." She is crate trained and is doing excellent with potty training.   If interested, please  complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Story
Sweeten your life with your very own Hershey, Reeses, Twix, Almond Joy, Heath, or Muskeeter! We're a mix of Collie/Bulldog and we're a delight. There's no sugarcoating it- we are adorable and we know it!! We have our spay/neuter surgeries on 1/8 and will be ready to go to a forever home then. If you've got your heart set on us, you can pre-adopt in the meantime. Oh won't you take us home? If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2259550##

Story
Meadow is a sweet and sensitive border collie mix. This adorable puppy is just starting to come out of her shell, following her person around and then heading out to explore just a little before racing right back. It’s so easy to fall in love with her gentle personality and smarts.  Meadow is just starting to discover and play with toys. She likes to shake them and chase balls. She’s so food motivated and brainy that she already learned sit, down, come, and twirls and is also learning to shake and roll over. She is good in the crate, doing well at potty training, and learning to walk on a leash. She is interested in other dogs and will follow them around. Another friendly, kind dog in the home would give her more confidence. Meadow loves to curl up on the couch for naps. Meadow would prefer a quiet and calm home that isn’t too overwhelming. Someone should be around most of the time. Extra points if there’s herding dog experience. She needs a physical, fenced yard so she can explore safely. This sweet girl is being fostered in the St. Louis area.  ##2353434##

Story
Nancy is a young Australian cattle dog who would just love to sit on your lap and be cuddled all day. She’s smart and full of personality with spurts of play time then lots of chill time.  Nancy is about 3 or 4 years old. She is completely house trained and is excellent in her crate. She’s good on a leash and knows several commands including “sit” and “kennel.” She is particularly motivated if treats are involved! Nancy loves other dogs but can get pretty rowdy when she plays. She would be great with a dog buddy as long as the dog is accepting, playful, and not easily offended by silly antics. One of Nancy’s favorite things is to talk to all her favorite toys. Nancy needs a home with a fenced-in yard and would prefer someone who has herding dog experience. No kids under 10 please. Nancy is being fostered in the St. Louis area. ##1270950##

Story
Gabriel came to us from a rural shelter in the Carolinas. This young dog had been seriously injured after being hit by a car. The impact broke his leg and caused his eye to pop out. Although veterinarians were able to save his eye, he wasn’t able to see out of it, so it eventually had to be removed. He has recovered quickly from that procedure as well as surgery to fix his leg. Although Gabriel is only a couple years old, he totally acts like a puppy. He is extremely curious, energetic, and playful, but also loves to snuggle. He adores playing tug, thinks chew toys are fantastic, and has a blast with stuffed toys and his Jolly Ball. Gabriel is doing great with potty training and is working on leash and crate manners. He’s a quick learner and knows sit, kennel up, and hush. He is goofy and can be rowdy, but he totally wants to be a good boy. Gabriel is good with dogs that like to play as hard as he does. He needs a home with a fenced-in yard. He’d be fine as an only dog or would have fun with a well-matched dog pal. He’d love a family who might be interested in dog sports or other fun activities and who will spend time continuing to teach him how to be a great dog.  Gabriel wants to play and wants to be loved and cuddled. He certainly deserves it after his traumatic experiences. He’s being fostered in the St. Louis area. ##1864447##
