Story
If you are looking for a show stoppingly handsome, wonderfully friendly, sweet companion, then Sammy may be your soulmate! Sammy came into the pound when his owner could no longer care for him. He lived in an apartment with him and the owner was struggling with mobility issues and could no longer walk well. He was devastated, as was Sammy, but he simply couldn’t care for him any longer. Sammy’s heart was broken to say goodbye to his owner, and then he became so scared when he entered the pound. Even though his heart was shattered and he was scared and confused, this guy was reliably so loving and kind to everyone he met. He gained many advocates during his stay at the pound and fortunately a fabulous foster home opened up with room to take this darling boy in until he finds a home to call his very own. Sammy is 2 years old and weighing about 45-50 lbs. According to his owner, which the vet agrees with, he is a gorgeous blend of smoothie collie, sight/greyhound, and lab. He is leggy and lean, and absolutely adorable! He has since had all of his medical work done including vaccines, heartworm testing, microchipping, deworming, preventative, and he’s neutered. He’s healthy, wonderful, and ready to begin his next chapter! Sammy is truly just such a good dog. He is exceptionally intelligent and so devoted and loving. He is active and he absolutely looooves to run around in his yard and play with other pups! He enjoys being outside in nature and taking in the peace of a cool breeze and birdwatching in the warmer months, and will enjoy a parks in the winter months! He absolutely loves to go for walks and hikes and he does great on a leash! For as much as he loves his time in the great outdoors, this boys favorite is a snuggle under the blankets all warm and cozy with his favorite people. He is always ready for a movie night and enjoys sleeping close to his humans. He’s had excellent manners in the house and much prefers to be free than to be in a crate. He has done well with cats though will try to play, and he has been phenomenal with other dogs. Whether they large, small, male, female, you name it he does awesome in doggy play groups and is so happy to have the companionship of pups! He has a very good natured disposition and is social and loving with everyone he meets. He’ll do fantastic in a home with a nice yard to play in (he would definitely love a doggy sibling!), and with parents who will love to have a balanced life of sofa snuggles, car rides, and walks/hikes. He has a tender, loving heart and such soulful eyes. When you meet him you can tell he truly wants to be the best boy he can be, and that his greatest joy is giving and receiving love. If you’ve fallen for this wonderful guy and would love to make him yours, please visit www.greatdivideanimalrescue.org and submit an application for adoption today!!

These babies were brought to us after a lady’s neighbor left the pregnant mama. She kept the mom but could not keep her babies. This is a fun group of pups! They get along with strangers, kids and other dogs. They do well in a crate, usually just go to sleep. They would do well on hikes or other outside adventures. They are in a puppy teething mode so beware of fingers!! They are in need of all basic puppy training and just loads of love! A wonderful addition to any family. She is currently being fostered in TN but we use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport.

Story
Meet Maverick! Maverick is just a baby who is still learning what being a dog is all about and is catching on very quickly. Whether it’s cats or dogs, if it’s got fur and it moves, Maverick automatically wants to play with it. This can be frustrating for senior dogs, while younger dogs will think that it’s great. Maverick likes to play with toys but gets easily distracted by the brand new world that is waiting for him to explore. Because Maverick is still learning manners, he would fit best in a home with older children. While he does well with not jumping on his foster mom, it is possible that he could accidentally knock a smaller child down. Overall, Maverick is pretty gentle and likes to snuggle with his foster mom from time to time. His crate training is coming along nicely and he can currently go for about five hours before needing to be let out. If Maverick sounds like your dog, complete an application at https://www.saveastray.org/forms/form?formid=3635 Thank you for your interest in a Save a Stray pet. The first step is to complete an adoption application. https://www.saveastray.org/forms/form?formid=3635 Once the application is approved, a FaceTime will be set up for a virtual meet and greet. Since we are located in Mobile, AL, this will give you the opportunity to see the pet interact with other dogs, people, and see a bit of their personality. Transports leave every week alternating between the NE and the Great Lakes. We use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport.

Story
Amos was a stray that found himself as a stray and later at a high kill shelter. Amos is a very sweet dog who needs an owner to show him love and regain the confidence he has lost from what we believe was abuse and neglect. Amos will make a wonderful pet for the person or family that wants to spend time loving and caring for this sweet boy!

Story
Meet Swayze!!!! This awesome boy was found running loose in Tennessee. He was brought to the shelter where nobody ever came to claim him. Fetching hard stepped up to help this boy as he is so handsome and deserves his forever home. Swayze loves to run around in his fenced-in yard at his Foster's house. He will play ball with you and sometimes bring it back to you but not always lol! He's still learning. Swayze also loves to run around with his friends and wrestle. Swayze is one happy boy who loves to meet his friends and to give his humans lots of love. Swayze would love an active family where he could go on hikes and explore with them, but also be able to cuddle up in the evening by the fire. He will ask that you buy him a nice little hoodie so he can stay warm in the cold. Swayze is working on his leash walking but overall does fairly well. He might need some training classes on it when he gets to his forever family. We know that he will accomplish it in time. This guy is very smart and food motivated. If you want Swayze to join your family forever, apply today! He has been waiting his turn for a little bit of time now and cannot wait. Give you tons of love and happiness each day.
