If we need to look something up later and you used a different email we are often not able to find it. 2. Adopt a Pet and Petfinders ask you to send us an enquiry. This always delays our response. We are a small non-profit and do not always have the help to answer as many enquiries as we get. c. Again our Biographies are very detailed and if you just click the link near the bottom of their bio you can fill out an application which we will respond to. 3. Story
With the face, ears, and coloring of a tri-colored collie, but the back end of a champion German shepherd, Buddy is a very handsome gentleman. Buddy is in a play group with dogs of his size but gets long with all sizes. He is strong and could use leash training but will be a showstopper! He is popular with volunteers and has been taken to several adoption events. He does great with babies, seniors and everything in between. He would be a great addition to any family.

Story
To apply or learn more about Isco, go to: https://www.heartsforpawsrescue.com/219873/2023/11/2/isco Isco is a 3 year old Cattle Dog Whippet (Best guess) Mix. He has a great base of training and ready to impress you with all his cues, including: Sit, Wait/Stay, Bed, Crate, Down and Off. He walks well on leash and doesn’t pull a ton. He LOVES to sniff everything during his walkies aka Sniffaris ( but doesn’t stop to mark, only sniff). He would do best in a quieter neighborhood as very busy places can make him nervous. He has lived with 2 small dogs in the past and may be able to make dog acquaintances with slow intros but does not have a ton of experience with other dogs at this time. He doesn’t mind being prince of the palace though or avoiding getting super close to dogs on walks — he’s just happy to be out and about with his person. GOOD WITH CATS (Isco previously lived with a cat who he loved to play with); we ALWAYS recommend slow intros into the home/early separation for cats/dogs as they get to know one another. Isco has the CUTEST prance and loves to play fetch. He is treat motivate which makes continued training and intros to people much more of a breeze. Housetrained, Crate Trained, around 40-45 lbs. Neutered, Vaccinated, Vetted, ready to be yours! Isco’s adoption donation is sponsored. You might be wondering what “sponsored” means. A dog is sponsored when their foster or a donor loves them so much that they cover the adoption donation for a future adopter. This in hopes that the pup finds his or her forever family ASAP!

Story
It's pretty impossible not to love Ahi! Ahi is a 1.5-year-old goofball who is always on the lookout for fun. Like a true herding breed dog, she loves to always be on the move and is a smart girl who loves to learn. She is a special girl as she was born deaf, but that doesn't stop her from being a happy-go-lucky pup. Ahi is full-grown at just under 40lbs. Ahi is currently being fostered by the family who adopted her sister. Unfortunately, Ahi's previous owners were not able to keep up with her exercise requirements and she was returned to the person who bred her mom. Once her foster family heard about her, they wasted no time to come to her rescue and we were happy to make her a YCSPCA dog and help find her fur-ever home. Ahi is a confident girl who loves to explore and make new friends. She has come to a few adoption events and has blown us away with how social she is out and about. She would be a great dog for someone who likes to go to dog-friendly breweries. She is a higher-energy girl, so she needs an active family that will ensure she gets lots of daily exercise and enrichment to keep her busy mind and body happy. Ahi has been doing great learning all her basic manners but still learning how to not get too excited when saying hello, so her new family will need to be committed to working on her training and helping her learn how to be the best girl she can be. She is VERY food-motivated and will do just about anything for a tasty treat. Ahi's lack of hearing doesn't slow her down one bit, but training can be a little more difficult since she can't hear. She needs a dog-savvy family that has experience with deaf dogs or is eager to learn how to work with her and possibly hire a professional trainer to learn how to communicate with Ahi. Ahi loves other dogs and has done well living with other playful medium/large dogs. She can be a little too boisterous for small or older dogs though. Ahi needs a cat-free and would do best in an adult-only home or with kids older than 14 years old. Ahi is housetrained in her foster home, but her new family should be patient with her while she is settling into a new home and routine and expect a few accidents. Ahi is crate-trained and does well in her crate overnight and when her foster family isn't home. Ahi is such a rockstar dog and we know she is going to make a great companion for the right family. If she sounds like the right-hand girl for you, submit an adoption application today!   Ahi's adoption fee is $350.   Apply to adopt here! https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/  Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm and started on preventatives, and are given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org. Story
Who is the most handsome boy around? Stirrup! This 4-month-old bundle of fun is oh-so ready to be your newest best friend. He is the goofiest boy who knows no strangers as everyone he meets becomes his instant bestie. He is looking for an active family that can keep up with his puppy energy and smart little mind. Stirrup currently weighs about 30lbs and will likely be at least 50-60lbs when fully grown. Stirrup was found as a stray on a ranch his foster mom was working on. He was never claimed by an owner, so his foster mom decided to bring him home to Davis. She reached out to us and became a foster home so we could help find him his fur-ever home.  Stirrup is the sweetest boy who loves making new friends and going on outdoor adventures. He has been doing great for car rides and walking on a leash and with the cooler weather coming up, he would love to be your hiking buddy. Stirrup is a smart little boy and can easily get bored, so he needs a family dedicated to keeping his days enriched with lots of mental and physical stimulation. He has been learning all his basic manners but is still working on some things, so his new family should be prepared to continue his training and help him grow up to be the best boy he can be. Stirrup has done great with all the dogs he has met and would love another playful medium/large dog sibling. He may do well as an only dog with lots of opportunities to socialize with other friendly dogs. Due to his playful personality, he likely would be too much energy for an older dog. Stirrup has done well interacting with cats and seems like he would do well living with dog-savvy cats with a slow introduction and proper supervision. Stirrup has been exposed to cattle and other farm animals and has done well. He could make a wonderful addition to a family with kids 10 years or older. Stirrup has been doing very well with his housetraining but is still a puppy and his new family should expect some accidents while he is transitioning into a new environment and routine. He has been doing well with his crate training and is fine to hang out in his crate when home alone and at night. Stirrup is such a great little boy and we know he is going to make the best addition to a family. If he sounds like he might be the family member you're missing in your life, submit an adoption application today!   Stirrup's adoption fee is $400.   Apply to adopt here!  https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/   Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application.
