Story
Meet Paisley! Paisley came into our care with a broken leg and pelvis that is still healing. She was hit by a car and our vets worked their hardest to save her leg and we succeeded! She is well into recovery and now looking for a foster to adopt who can help her on her journey to forever. Paisley is about as sweet as they come, loves her people, is quick to give kisses to everyone she meets, and gets along well with other dogs. Now that she is mostly healed, she loves to run and play again. Paisley is a very high energy dog that will need a home that can provide a lot of enrichment. She loves the outdoors, but Paisley is also a great home office companion and likes to stay entertained with food enrichment such as stuffed Kong's and bones. Paisley will require daily medication and more vet visits going forward and will need an adopter with a flexible schedule. Paisley has developed some reactivity towards cars and bicycles, and will need an adopter that can use Animal Kind training techniques to work on this with her. In the meantime, Paisley would do best with an adopter that is fit and strong to help manage the behaviour, and ideally lives in a quiet neighbourhood. Thank you for your interest in adopting! Do you think you could be Paisley's person? Apply today!TIP: We strongly suggest all applicants to write a little bit about themselves when prompted.https://spca.bc.ca/adoption/dog-pre-adoption-questionnaire/The Victoria Center is open for in-person adoption viewings Tuesday through Sunday, 12pm to 4pm, staff and animal well-being permitting.Paisley is not available for viewing due to her medical condition. Story
Meet Jellybean (aka Jelly or JB)! 🐾 This handsome, 1.5-year-old, 53 lb Smooth Collie mix is full of energy, smarts, and personality. With his beautiful merle coat and stunning hazel eyes, Jellybean has been mistaken for a wild coyote more than once—so he sports a safety vest when out on the trails! Adventurer at Heart 🖤 Jellybean is your go-to buddy for outdoor fun. Hiking? Jogging? Mountain biking? He's up for it all! He thrives on about 2 hours of exercise a day, and when he's had his fill, this medium-to-high-energy pup is more than happy to chill out and relax with you. Leash Progress in the Making 🐕‍🦺 While Jellybean walks great on the leash, he's working hard on not reacting to other dogs or wildlife. He's doing much better, but his ideal home will continue to help him build confidence and positive leash manners. If you've got a fenced yard, Jellybean would love to zoom around in it! Quirky & Fun ⚽️ This playful boy is always nearby with his favorite squeaky toy in tow, and when he's had a full day, he does an adorable bedtime routine—rolling in his bed, making noises like a tired toddler! He's also got a soft spot for chasing balls (sometimes keeping them for himself a little longer). Training Superstar 🦴 Jellybean is fully house-trained with a perfect track record of no accidents. He settles right into his kennel, especially with a treat or chew toy, and sleeps soundly overnight. He's food-motivated, making training a breeze—just toss him a snack, and he'll be eager to learn! Dog-Friendly, Cat-Adverse 🐈‍⬛ Jellybean has done great with dogs of all sizes, but we're not sure about smaller, more assertive pups. He hasn't been exposed to cats, but with his high prey drive, he's likely not the best fit for a feline friend. If you're an active person with a big heart, Jellybean could be your next adventure partner and cuddle buddy in one!
