Coco is an amazing dog, very sweet and loving. We love him so much and we want him to have a great life with someone who has time to give him the love and attention he deserves. NOTE: We received an overwhelming number of applications for both Redman and Tater and are no longer accepting new applications. Since this is a holiday week and many of our volunteers are taking time off, we will review all applications by the end of the week and reach out to those adopters we plan to move forward with. Thanks for your understanding and patience. ******* Meet Tater, a Cavapoo purchased by his owner five months ago from a puppy broker, a business that buys puppies from various breeders and then resells them for profit. His owner purchased two puppies simultaneously, which is a lot for any owner to take on. He is also battling depression and just wasn’t able to properly care for them. Initially, he listed both puppies on Craigslist (unneutered) for a giveaway. Thankfully, a friend of one of our volunteers saw it and contacted Worthy Dog to take them in. She educated the owner about the dangers of giving dogs away online, and he took down the post and did the right thing, surrendering them to our rescue. Tater is 8 months old and will be getting neutered next week. He’s currently being fostered in SC with his foster mom, Renee, and her sweet pup, Ryder. Tater and Ryder hit it off right away, and he’s proven to have good house manners. We checked in with Renee for a one-week update: FOSTER MOM UPDATE - 12/20/24 “Tater is an awesome pup. He is full of life and love and very adaptable. He follows me all around the house and has learned when it’s time to go to bed for the night. He picked up my routine so quickly and now gets in bed and waits for me. He’s a smart boy who has already stolen my heart!! Tater and Ryder started running and playing together from day one. They are so good together, and Tater respects Ryder’s space when he is napping and doesn’t want to play. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs and has met some of my neighbor dogs, too. I think he’s confident enough to be an only dog or would be best paired with an active pup playmate. Tater is house- and crate-trained. He will go right into his crate when I tell him it’s time to Kennel Up! I haven’t left him out yet when I run errands because of all the Christmas stuff around the house. He loves his toys and will fetch and return. He loves his ball! (He has gone for the ball on the Christmas tree, that's why we are using the crate.) Tater is a smart boy. He already understands ‘no,’ ‘come,’ ‘sit,’ and we are working on ‘stay’ and ‘down.’ He greets everyone he meets with joy and will jump up on them to say Hi. We are working on that, and he’s just a young pup who is still learning. When Tater gets up in the morning, he likes to go out, eat, and play!! He likes to chase squirrels and birds in the backyard and sometimes just run for fun. He has a lot of energy at times but naps hard too. He is leash-trained and does very well on walks.” ********** Tater is a young, fun-loving, social boy who will make a great family dog. He needs an active home and would love to be your hiking buddy or sidekick to go on daily life adventures. He will be coming to town on 1/11, ready to go home and start his new life. Apply today! She educated the owner about the dangers of giving dogs away online, and he took down the post and did the right thing, surrendering them to our rescue. Redman is 8 months old and was neutered this week. He’s currently being fostered in SC with his foster mom, Julia, and her two pups and two kitties. He’s been a great playmate for their younger Beagle and respectful of the small senior pup, who is not as welcoming. The cat mostly frightens Redman, and he respects her space. He’s also proven to have good house manners, and Julia trusts him to be free to roam in the home. We checked in with Julia for a first-week update: FOSTER MOM UPDATE - 12/21/24 “Redman is a good boy and such a love bug. He’s very obedient,  knows his basic commands, and is fully housetrained. He likes to snuggle and give kisses and has done very well with my pack. He plays with my Beagle, Willow, and is afraid of my two cats…he does not even approach them. He’s trying to get my senior, Poochy, to warm up to him and is making progress. They are lying on the couch together right now. Redman likes to be involved in everything and loves attention. He would come to a party even if he wasn’t invited :joy: but then fit right in. He’s a social boy who greets new dogs and visitors with ease. I had two friends stop by today (both male), and he was fine with both right away. He would enjoy having kids in his life to play with and make a great family dog. I have not used a crate with him yet. He sleeps on my bed at night and is mostly on good behavior when left home alone. He does drag clothing around the house but doesn't eat it. That’s totally my fault for leaving it on the floor. He’s very adaptable and has picked up my routine so quickly. So far, he’s been more of a moderate energy pup, but he was also just neutered and is recovering, so I may not have seen his goofball side yet.” ********** Redman is a young, fun-loving, social boy who wants to be part of your life. He wants to go places and do things and will make an excellent sidekick. He would do best in an active home and be fine as an only dog or part of a pack. He will be coming to town on 1/11, ready to go home and start his new life.
