Story
Please welcome Spike to OBG!  Spike is a young 17 years old (yes!) and 23 pounds but doesn't act his age at all!  He has pep in his step and is an easy-going guy who is house trained, sleeps all night and enjoys other pups.  In his foster home, he enjoys sleeping in comfy doggie beds and lounging next to his foster parents.  He hasn't had any accidents in the house.  Spike is good with other dogs and hasn't made a peep yet in his foster home.  Spike is overall healthy for his age and, no surprise, he does have a heart murmur that needs inexpensive daily medication. Spike's one request is for a home with minimal steps or an adopter who doesn't mind carrying him up the stairs - stairs are new to this guy.  Spike is ready to find his forever now!  If you can open your home and heart for Spike, please email us at adoptme@cockerspanielrescue.com.  Spike is located in Alexandria, VA.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 17, 2024, 5:11 pm

If you look up the word "adorable" in the dictionary, you'll find a picture of this whole litter! Sure, they are cute, but they are just as sweet! These puppies are in our jail program where female trustees care for puppies while we get them vetted and adopted into wonderful homes. The program is great for socializing pups and beginning their training. We believe the pups are Cocker/Pug mixes and will be small, but we KNOW they will be a great addition to any family. If you'd like to adopt one of these cuties please fill out our application at www.goofyfootrescue.org

Please visit our website - www.cockeradoptions.org   There, you will find the current status of the dog, the links to our adoption and foster applications, and detailed information about our adopting and fostering procedures.   ADOPTED! ADOPTED! ADOPTED! ADOPTED! ADOPTED! ADOPTED! ADOPTED! MY ORIGINAL INTAKE INFORMATION: Hi Everyone! My name is Trixie, and I just arrived at CSAC. I was rescued from a puppy mill. The CSAC volunteer says that I am happy, friendly, very sweet and energetic. I even rolled over for belly rubs at the veterinarians. I have spent my life in a barn, a shed or a cage. The best home for me has people who have dog experience who can help with my training and acclimating to the outside world. The people in my new home should be able to teach me the skills I need to be a great pet: walking on a lead, house training, and socializing. Right now, I am in the caring hands of one of the great Vets that work with CSAC. They are checking me out and making sure I am healthy. Hopefully, I will find my new family that will help me to understand that I am a cherished family pet, not just an animal to be used to make money. For more information about this dog, email our Adoption Coordinator. Our adoption process starts with an application. If you are interested in adopting this pup, please click the Adopt menu at the top of the screen, read about our process, and click the application link. The medical and custodial care of the many Cockers in our care is tremendous. More and more dogs are abandoned with urgent and serious medical issues. We are committed to providing the best possible care for these forgotten friends. Unfortunately, the mounting high costs are beginning to limit the number of dogs we are able to take into our program. Even if you cannot adopt or foster one of our current adoptable dogs, please consider making a donation. The Cocker Spaniel Adoption Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization, and your donations are entirely tax deductible. Click the Donate menu at the top of the screen. My name is Shiloh, and I just arrived at CSAC. I was rescued from a puppy mill. I am scared because I have not been around a lot of people or lived in a home as a pet. I have spent my life in a barn, a shed or a cage. The best home for me has people who have dog experience who can help with my training and acclimating to the outside world. The people in my new home should be able to teach me the skills I need to be a great pet: walking on a lead, house training, and socializing. I will need time to trust people who want what is best for me and are not going to hurt me. That is something I have not experienced so far in my life. Right now, I am in the caring hands of one of the great Vets that work with CSAC. They are checking me out and making sure I am healthy.
