Story
Hey, it's me, Snooper! Are you my human? I REALLY love riding in the car and my people. I promise to patrol your yard and keep all the critters at bay. I can be your partner for playing fetch and for a good walk. When it's time for cuddles, I'll paw your hand to make sure I get a pet or two in while I snooze next to you on the couch. These are some of my best photos, before I had to have one of my eyes removed, now I'm a winker! I've been in foster care for over 2 years and would love to find my furever to spend my remaining years with.Interested in adoption? Please read the following: we have an application process, which can be found on our website at www.austincockerrescue.org. We do not adopt outside the state of Texas. You must have an approved application to set up a meeting with a dog--this is done at the foster's discretion. If you have questions regarding the adoption process or a specific dog, please email us at woof@austincockerrescue.org. Phone calls about specific dogs will not be answered, as email is our preferred method of communication. Thank you for your interest!

Story
Leif. If you know anything about CSRA, you know that we ADORE a pre-sugared face! We believe that a dog deserves a great home, regardless of their age, when they find themselves looking for one. And pssst, here's a secret: older dogs often make AMAZING companions. At 10, Leif has gotten over that whippersnapper stage and is well-settled into being happy to just hang out--he's not overly affectionate, but he wants to know where you are so he can find a dog bed close by. He does great with other older, low-key dogs. And best of all, you can see this goofy grin every morning.Interested in adoption? Our adoptions require an approved application, which you can find on http://www.austincockerrescue.org/adoption-application/Applicants with an already approved application can email us at woof@austincockerrescue.org

Story
Pretty Girl Alert! It's adorable & adoptable: Amour, affectionately known in her foster home as Mo-Mo. Mo-Mo is a beautiful black Cocker Spaniel mix. She’s about 37 pounds & has a medium energy level, making her a wonderful balance of playful and relaxed. She is fully vetted, spayed, crate trained, and potty trained, so she’s ready to settle right into her new home. She has an incredibly sweet and loving personality and does well with children. She’s gentle, affectionate, and enjoys being close to her people. At first she can be timid and unsure in new surroundings, but with patience and kindness she builds trust and becomes very devoted to her family. Once she bonds with you, she is the kind of dog who prefers to stick right by your side. She walks nicely on a leash, but she naturally stays close to her person and doesn’t tend to wander once she feels at home. She loves being outside and would thrive in a home with a yard where she can relax, explore, and enjoy the fresh air.She also has this adorable little quirk — she likes to collect “treasures.” Every now and then she’ll pick up harmless household items like a stuffed animal or a shoe and proudly carry them out to the yard to add to her collection. She doesn’t destroy anything, she just likes having her own little stash. Other dogs are a "maybe" for Mo-Mo. She gets along with other dogs with slow introductions, cats are unknown. If you’re looking for a loyal, gentle, and loving companion who will stick close to your side and fill your home with sweetness (and maybe a few treasures), she may be the perfect match for you.

Story
Calypso is a 5-year-old beauty who has some special needs--both physical and behavioral. We'll explain. The physical part is somewhat simple--she has epilepsy. She is now on daily medication, which isn't super expensive, and it's pretty much under control. The behavioral aspect, well... Here's what we know: Calypso requires a very specific home. This pretty girl is extremely skittish and shy. Children are a no-no for her, even savvy kids. Let's face it, kids can be fast and loud and up in your grill, and it just freaks her out. She doesn't care for a noisy home either. She's a girl who needs time to warm up, and even then, she will let you know what she deems an appropriate touch and what she considers unacceptable. Now that she has been with us for a while, she has finally learned to trust her foster family. Heck, she's even opened up and comfortable enough to play fetch. But we know that Calypso will never be a social butterfly. She is not one of those dogs that are suitable for a busy home or novice owners. She's not a dog you could take out in public to a bar or restaurant or social gatherings. She says, "NO THANKS to all of that. She's a lovely companion for someone who understands that some dogs love in different ways. She will need a compassionate veterinarian and grooming staff who understand the importance of trust and patience. And a special person who can provide a quiet home and who will understand when she needs a safe space to retreat to when there may be visitors. Don't get us wrong, she likes her person and will happily sit beside you, she just has a bit of Greta Garbo in her: "She wants to be alone." We know that all of this may sound like a lot, but if we've learned anything in our 24 years of doing this, there's someone out there for whom she would be a perfect fit. It may take us a while to find that person, but we're pretty sure they're out there. If this sounds like you, the next step is to have an approved application (which can be found on our website). Story
Meet Tofu! We think the name kind of suits him... as he's a bit of an acquired taste. While he definitely ranks high on the cute factor, he struggles in other areas. Like keeping his tongue in his mouth, complete control over his back legs, and limited vision departments. It's believed that he inherited these traits, but there's no definitive test to confirm this. We know he's just a youngster, and none of that seems to be an obstacle to playing or getting his zoomies. Tofu would LOVE to have someone play tug-of-war with him, but he's also happy to just lie on your feet (hope you weren't going anywhere). He loves to explore the toy box, but has gotten a little confused as to why the throw pillows are off-limits. I mean, the stuffing does need to be rescued, no?? Tofu is a sweetheart and just wants to be loved on and be next to his human.Interested in adoption? Our adoptions require an approved application, which can be found on our website. Story
Hunnicutt is a high-energy, big-hearted 3-year-old boy who lives life at full speed — and loves every second of it! If you’re looking for a dog who will be absolutely thrilled to see you every day, Hunnicutt is your guy. His excitement is contagious, and he isn’t shy about showing affection (expect happy wiggles and enthusiastic greetings!).He is extremely treat-motivated, which makes training a breeze. He happily goes into his kennel for a reward and is already learning great manners — he’ll even sit inside his kennel to patiently earn his treat. With consistency and positive reinforcement, this smart boy is going to keep shining.Hunnicutt is mostly potty trained and thrives on routine. A structured schedule really helps him succeed. He gets along well with other dogs and would likely benefit from a confident, well-mannered canine sibling to show him the ropes. (Cats are currently unknown.)Because he’s energetic and tends to excitedly circle around people, he may accidentally bump into little ones or anyone unsteady on their feet. For that reason, he’d likely do best in a home without small children or seniors. Poor Hunnicutt is currently heartworm positive and will be treated of our vets at CSRA Expense. 💙 Hunnicutt’s Ideal Home:• Active adopter or family• Committed to continued training• Structured routine• Possibly a well-balanced dog sibling• No small children or mobility concernsIf you want a loyal, lively companion who will keep you moving, laughing, and feeling loved every single day, Hunnicutt is ready to be your adventure buddy.
