Story
Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   BUDDY ID MICROCHIPDate into Rescue: 1/14/2024 Reason for being in rescue: owner release/health of owner Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Ginger is a hot mess for sure. Her last vertebra has a bony growth and a loss of disc space. There is no fix for this. This abnormality of her spine causes her to be occasionally urine incontinent. If you lift her tail up and try to change her posture, she will snap because it hurts. You will need a professional to do sanitary grooms. Otherwise, she's sweet as can be.  She is on a non-steroidal anti inflammatory medication (meloxicam).  Going through1800petmeds, meloxicam 7.5 mg pills are .18 cents per day and she gets one pill per day. She is also on gabapentin but gabapentin at her dose must be purchased from your vet.  She also has a heart murmur (1/6) that does not require any meds.  She is currently on cytopoint which runs roughly $100 per month. We think that with a dedicated owner who will keep her on specific diet and give her regular baths, that this can be discontinued. She was not on it before she came to us.   Weight: 20 lb but needs to gain up to about 22 lbs Height: 14 in at the shoulder Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $1 - I am priceless Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Ginger is a middle-aged girl who's looking to spend the best years of her life in a home, not in a kennel.  She would love to go with her BFF Precious. They have always lived together. Both Ginger and Precious are taking a while to adjust to living here at CPR. They are used to living in a house and being pampered and loved on constantly. They are looking for a forever family that can once again, provide them with that life that they are so accustomed to. They need a calm home with owners that will be home most, if not all, of the day. They will do well in either an apartment or house. What is my personality like? Ginger and Precious have warmed up considerably since first coming to us but both are still apprehensive about their surroundings. Their personalities will shine once they are safely lodged in their new forever home. Ginger is the more confident of the two and Precious takes her cues from Ginger. Neither girl will rush to meet you or jump on you. They both love affection being shown to them. How do I act when I first meet new people? Ginger is wary but loves pets and any attention paid to her as it's what she had come to expect from her former home. Sit down on the floor, give her a minute or five, and let come to you. That is the best way to approach Ginger. When you do you will see her come in for pets. Then she will climb into your lap for ear rubs and more pets. She may even provide a few wet kisses if you are lucky. When you stop petting Ginger she'll shoot you a side eye or a fallen glare as if to say, "I have not given you permission to stop petting me." She thinks she's royalty and who's to tell her that she's not?  Nothing stops her butt wiggle!   Other tips and tidbits: Our vet estimates Ginger's birthday to be 3/31/2014. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. December 13, 2024, 11:48 am

No Phone Calls. If you are interested in adopting this very sweet guy, please fill out an application by going to charlottecockerrescue.org to download and save our application. Email your filled out application back to us to be approved. We will review it and return calls. Meet Jackson, a loving, healthy, 5-year-old Cocker Spaniel. He was surrendered to a NC Shelter with the owners saying he snapped at their kids when they wouldn't share their food with him. The shelter was overcrowded so he came to rescue. This very handsome, friendly boy is just a BIG boned Cocker Spaniel. He is heartworm negative, neutered, micro-chipped and he had a dental. Due to a somewhat unknown past, absolutely no kids in his new home. He is a happy affectionate guy most of the time, but he does have some issues from being flown to NC as a pup. His lack of social skills is workable if you teach him. He does have anxiety issues when groomed so a patient groomer who will work with him is best. Also, riding in a vehicle is difficult for him when he hears loud noises. He is not a playful dog, but he would enjoy quality time with you and a companion to hang out with. A calm, stable home with a caring owner who will spend quality time working with him is best. An adult home with no children, some house training and a fenced yard is best for him. He is a good boy and will become a loving companion once he gets to know you. No apartments. Adoption fee $400

Email your filled out application back to us to be approved. We will review it and return calls. *This dog can only be adopted out to a home in the Cabarrus County area. Adult home, no children or grandkids. Meet Buddy, a 1 year and 9-month-old neutered Cocker Spaniel boy. He was turned into a NC shelter with the owners saying he had started nibbling at their feet, and they didn't want their grandchildren to get hurt. They had him in their home for two months after getting him from someone else. This sweet boy comes from an unknown, unstable past. He needs an adult only home with an owner 55 and under, no senior owners. Absolutely no toys, no children or grandkids due to bite issues which his foster rescue mom will discuss if you are approved to adopt him. He has been in 4 different homes before rescue. He came here with bilateral cherry eyes, HW & fecal status negative. Surgery repair for his cherry eyes was done with a good recovery. When he came to us, he was very sad, dirty with mats and needed to be cleaned up. After being groomed he came back withdrawn and even more sad possibly from too much noise and too many dogs. He will need a patient groomer and few distractions. A new owner must listen to what we suggest and have a fenced yard. He didn't know kindness, love, attention or how to handle noises. We have worked with him, and he has made progress. He can be in a home with one other Cocker Spaniel who is easy going and would love a pal. He will thrive in a home with stability, kindness and love. Someone who will work with him and not give up on him. His issues will be discussed if approved to meet him. We feel he deserves a 2nd chance. Adoption Fee is $500.
