Story
PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.Jax is a fantastic 9 month old cocker spaniel mix. He is a very affectionate, playful boy who loves everyone. He is currently in a home with children (newborn to preschool), cats and other dogs, and he is great with all of them! Jax was part of an accidental litter. When the owners couldn't find him a home they dumped him on a family member, and that is who has him now, but can't keep him. He is mostly kept outdoors but is allowed inside too. He is not quite housetrained yet, but is working on it. It's hard with multiple pets, a newborn baby, and toddler/preschool kids. It's a busy household which makes it difficult to watch him for cues that he needs out to potty. In a home of his own, with a little focused attention, he will learn. Jax and his sister Jose have so much love to offer a family. They just need to find someone to give them a chance! He does have a very minor cherry eye (prolapsed tear duct) in one eye. It is not significant enough to do surgery and does not interfere with his vision, but does sometimes cause tears from that eye. There is no treatment needed at this time. Please see the last photo. Jax is fully vetted, about 40lbs, and ready to go to a new home now!*We have more pictures of him on our Facebook or you can email us and we can send more. This site only allows to put 4 pictures. Story
If you are interested in adopting or fostering this dog. Please visit our website - www.cockeradoptions.org   There, you will find the current status of the dog, the links to our adoption and foster applications, and detailed information about our adopting and fostering procedures.   MY ORIGINAL INTAKE INFORMATION: Hi Everyone! My name is Trixie, and I just arrived at CSAC. I was rescued from a puppy mill. The CSAC volunteer says that I am happy, friendly, very sweet and energetic. I even rolled over for belly rubs at the veterinarians. I have spent my life in a barn, a shed or a cage. The best home for me has people who have dog experience who can help with my training and acclimating to the outside world. The people in my new home should be able to teach me the skills I need to be a great pet: walking on a lead, house training, and socializing. Right now, I am in the caring hands of one of the great Vets that work with CSAC. They are checking me out and making sure I am healthy. Hopefully, I will find my new family that will help me to understand that I am a cherished family pet, not just an animal to be used to make money. For more information about this dog, email our Adoption Coordinator. Our adoption process starts with an application. If you are interested in adopting this pup, please click the Adopt menu at the top of the screen, read about our process, and click the application link. The medical and custodial care of the many Cockers in our care is tremendous. More and more dogs are abandoned with urgent and serious medical issues. We are committed to providing the best possible care for these forgotten friends. Unfortunately, the mounting high costs are beginning to limit the number of dogs we are able to take into our program. Even if you cannot adopt or foster one of our current adoptable dogs, please consider making a donation. The Cocker Spaniel Adoption Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization, and your donations are entirely tax deductible. Click the Donate menu at the top of the screen. My name is Shiloh, and I just arrived at CSAC. I was rescued from a puppy mill. I am scared because I have not been around a lot of people or lived in a home as a pet. I have spent my life in a barn, a shed or a cage. The best home for me has people who have dog experience who can help with my training and acclimating to the outside world. The people in my new home should be able to teach me the skills I need to be a great pet: walking on a lead, house training, and socializing. I will need time to trust people who want what is best for me and are not going to hurt me. That is something I have not experienced so far in my life. Right now, I am in the caring hands of one of the great Vets that work with CSAC. They are checking me out and making sure I am healthy.
