Story
Meet Tinsel “Maggie” – A Cuddly, Quirky Lovebug Ready for Her Forever Home! Tinsel, affectionately known as Maggie, is a sweet, happy girl with a heart full of love! She adores people and other dogs, loves snuggles, and will happily curl up in your lap any chance she gets. She’s food-motivated, enjoys leashed walks, and is crate-trained when left alone (though she’d much rather be by your side!).  She loves attention and will let you know she wants you to pet her with a gentle nudge of her paw.  Maggie has come so far—her back legs are stronger, she can do stairs (just needs help slowing down on hardwood), and she’s learning the ropes of potty training. Her back seemed to bother her when she arrived but she seems to be just fine and gaining strength. She’s still transitioning from pee pads to going outside, and she sometimes takes a while to go—or waits until she’s back inside on the pee pad. Because of her wonky back, she occasionally sprinkles pee on herself, so she needs gentle wipe occasionally and a little extra grooming in that area. She’s also a bit of a mischievous chewer, with a love for cords, plastic, and cardboard—so she needs an owner who can redirect her to hard toys and bones. A fenced yard is a must, as she’s a sneaky escape artist! She’s a little beggar who will paw at you endlessly for attention and maybe try to steal your snacks. She also sheds, despite regular brushing. She is crate trained and leash trained. She is cute as a button and will steal your heart. Maggie is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and had a dental.  Maggie is looking for a patient, loving family who will continue working on her training, keep her safe, and shower her with cuddles. Another dog would be a bonus! She may require extra care, but her sweet, silly personality makes it all worthwhile. If you’re ready to open your heart and home, Maggie is ready to be your loyal, snuggly sidekick! https://peytonsplaceanimalrescue.org/adoption-application/ ##2301843##

Simone is a 10 month old spayed female cockapoo who weighs 14 pounds. This adorable girl was rescued from living outside in a crate where she was dirty, matted and not cared for. She has since been shaved, started blossoming in our care and she has the best puppy eyes. Story
Watson is a 4 month old neutered male cockapoo who weighs 18 pounds. He was rescued along with several other dogs from terrible conditions. These dogs had to be immediately shaved and they already feel so much better. They are a bit shy to start, but super sweet once they get to know you. They would thrive with another dog in the home and are starting to show us their playful side. Meet Sausage! Sausage is a 10 month old cocker spaniel and aussie mix. She is a very intelligent and high energy working breed dog and will require a very active pet parent up to the task of providing her with ample physical and mental exercise. Herding breed experience is strongly preferred from adopters. As with all adopted dogs, Sausage will need a home where people are understanding and prepared to work through a period of transition with her. She will need time to trust her new family before working on training. This should go without saying, but we require all our animals to be trained using positive reinforcement methods ONLY. Herding dogs tend to do best in a home without young children as well (10+), though this determination is made on a case by case basis. If you are interested in being considered for them please apply on our website at www.angelsretreat.org

Story
Meet Peppermint! He is 15 weeks old. Peppermint is white and cream. Spay/ Neuter is a mandatory requirement with all ARC Pets this will be completed through our organization when the puppy reaches 6 months of age. If opting to use your own vet, a required spay / neuter certificate must be submitted no later than 7 months of age. Both brothers are the cutest bunch! They are still learning where to potty. They are currently in foster care. They have learned to potty outside but still have a few accidents indoors. They love to play and run around chasing after one another. After a nice game of tag they take a much needed nap. Both brothers are excited to meet their forever families. They are loyal companions and have lots of love to offer. They are currently in a foster home with kids and other dogs where they are awaiting to find their new home. To adopt this animal, please fill out the Dog Adoption Application & Contract. Do not apply if you are not looking to adopt this week/ weekend. For the contract you can type "unknown" for some of the blanks. Make sure to click on "SUBMIT" after the contract is completed or it won't show on our system. Completing the contract does not bind you nor guarantee an adoption. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://form.jotform.com/241774895235064 an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. If you are open to other pets similar to the one you are applying for, please indicate that in your email and we would love to help match you with a perfect new ARC PUP!

Story
Meet Jack ACCT-A-152868! Jack is a 2-year-old male who came in as an owner surrender on 2/28 due to the owners health and Jack’s behavior. This unfortunately is not Jack’s first time here at the shelter. He was here back in December of 2023 as an owner surrender and was adopted shortly after arriving. Jack was then returned a few days later due to his behavior. Behavior Notes: Per staff 3/2: “Was scared took quite a bit to get him out of the cage went very slowly with the meet did not approach them at all. Wasn't really interested in treats. he allow a few pets but going back into the kennel while trying to pick him up try to bite me had to pick him up with a blanket.” Per staff 2/28: “Got called up to help bring Jack in due to the owner saying he doesn't do well with strangers. She said that he will nip and bite at strangers, so I took things super slow with him. He was very fearful in the intake lobby, tail tucked and eyes wide. He did not react when I leashed him, and let me unclip his leash to give back to the owner with no issue. He never showed any aggression towards me. He did not want to walk, but with some leash pressure followed me. I decided to skip intake for his first day due to his owner notes and since he was already so fearful. There was only a top sidebank available, so I had to pick Jack up when we got to his kennel. I held his head forward and touched his side to gauge his reaction, and he just trembled and curled into himself. He allowed me to pick him up and did not attempt to bite or redirect onto me, he just trashed in fear. I was able to get him into kennel without incident, and he curled into a corner in the back, trembling. Jack does not appear aggressive, just fearful.” Per owner: “Housebroken, crate trained, high energy. He doesn't do well with other people around, not a child type dog. Has not bitten but attempted when going walking people passing bye. Walks great on leash. Reacts badly to strangers, wants to bite. Great with cats. The ideal family would be a family with no children a person that can deal with a high energy 2 yr old poodle. Previous Notes: Per owner 12/13/2023: “Growling and going after small child. Lived with children and cats. Low energy, couch potato. Tries to jump in babies crib while growling when baby cries. Walks good on leash. Unsure of strangers and dogs. Growls with strangers, friendly with children.” Per owner 12/6/ 2023: “Hyper, high energy, fully housebroken, crate trained. Walks fine on leash. Scarred of strangers, snaps at them. Okay with children, chases cats but is scared of them, okay with dogs.” Medical Notes: Per an exam on 12/7/2023: “Surrendering owner said dog has an injured leg from jumping off a banister months ago. They did not specify which leg, and no lameness was noted at time of intake. PE unremarkable. No lameness noted at a walk at time of exam, and no one area of pain, swelling or crepitus appreciated on palpation of limbs.” Per an exam on 12/6/2023: -Eyes have slight ocular discharge -Ears are slightly waxy -Teeth have slight discoloring ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia.
