Story
Meet Jesper! Jesper is a 6-year-old, 19-lb King Charles Cavalier with a heart as big as his soulful eyes. A survivor of a puppy mill, Jesper is still learning what it means to be a dog and experience love in a home. As a lower-energy dog, he’s looking for a patient adopter who will meet him where he is and help him blossom at his own pace. Jesper can be startled by fast movements and loud noises, but he finds comfort in his crate, which serves as his safe haven. He comes and goes as he pleases, using it as a space to recharge while he adjusts to the world around him. One of Jesper’s biggest joys is spending time with the other dog in his foster home. He adores his canine companion, following him around, taking cues, and even joining in playtime. Jesper would thrive in a home with another confident, social dog to guide him and show him the ropes. Jesper has not yet learned how to walk on a leash, so he will need a secure, fenced-in yard where he can explore safely and gain confidence at his own pace. While Jesper hasn’t quite figured out toys yet, his curiosity is growing, and it’s clear he’s on the brink of discovering a whole new world of fun. He has been doing wonderfully with potty training, when kept on a regular schedule, and he hasn’t had any accidents in his crate. Jesper also sleeps soundly through the night. This gentle boy is starting to enjoy the simple pleasures of life, like chin and ear scratches, and his tail wags are becoming more frequent as he grows comfortable. He especially loves cozying up on the couch in the evenings and has a soft spot for cheese—it’s his favorite treat! With time, love, and consistency, Jesper is sure to grow into an even more affectionate companion. His adopter can look forward to watching him flourish and rewarding their patience with loyalty, trust, and quiet moments of joy. Jesper is currently being fostered in Cincinnati, OH. His adoption fee is $450.00. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Story
Meet Tito! Tito is a shy seven year old male King Charles Cavalier who weighs 16 pounds. Tito recently came into rescue after being used for breeding at a puppy mill, hence his shyness. Humans have let him down, so he needs a patient forever family who can work on building his trust and showing him how good life can be! That being said, Tito loves to eat and gets excited about treats, so we think that earning his trust won't take very long. An interested adopter will have to have patience and determination to guide Tito to a place of trust. Tito will sit on the couch with his foster mom, but won't come willingly just yet. However, with time and patience, we know this cutie will come out of his shell! Tito’s favorite activity is to roam the yard with his foster siblings-- all six of them (including the ones over 100 pounds)! He loves other dogs, and we think an adoptive family who already has a dog or two would help him to build his confidence. He has been introduced to children who respect his need for patience, and has done well with them. Tito seems to be housebroken as long as he is let out every few hours, and has not had an accident in his foster home. He likes to hang out in his crate and sleeps over night with no issue. Having the patience to acclimate Tito into a trusting soul will be a delight when you see how he will eventually respond to love. If you are interested in meeting Tito, apply today! Tito is currently being fostered in the Cincinnati, OH area. His adoption fee is $450. Tito is a Patron Pup. Patron Pups have higher adoption fees due to varying reasons and are adopted quickly, even with these higher adoption fees. They may be purebred, a highly desirable breed, small in size fully grown, etc. These fees allow them to act as patrons to other pets in our care who may not be as adoptable, or have ongoing costs for medical care, contributing to a longer time in rescue, and therefore a higher cost for us to care for them. Patron Pups allow us to continue rescuing these other animals and give them a better chance at finding their forever homes as well. Story
Meet Ruby Leigh! Ruby Leigh is a 5-year-old, 15lb Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. She is looking for a quiet home to call her own. She lived in a puppy mill before being rescued by Louie's. Because of this we believe she would do best with no young children in the home. She still gets very nervous and shakes with loud noises and a lot of movement. She also would likely do best as an only dog OR with one passive dog in her home that will let her be the queen she deserves to be but will also show her how to be a dog. She quickly attaches to women in the home. She warms very slowly with men but with time has learned to trust the 2 guys at her foster home. Ruby will need soft food the rest of her days as she only has 4 teeth.... again, a sad reminder of her mill days. However, she does not let this bother her at all as she gobbles up her soft food and loves Frosty Paws frozen dog treats and peanut butter. Ruby just wants a soft bed or to be a lap dog and snuggle. She is super easy and is already potty trained/crate trained. She has not barked yet while in foster but will occasionally whine if she needs attention or will give a small warning growl if another dog comes over too quickly (She told the 4 dogs in foster home that she is queen, and they bowed down). Ruby Leigh will be an absolute treasure and companion to the lucky person or family who welcomes her into their home. Ruby Leigh is currently being fostered in the Cincinnati, Ohio area. Her adoption fee is $450.00.
