Story
Hi, my name is Maggie. I am the absolute sweetest girl, but I am very scared. I haven't learned how to be a house pup, and do better when there are other animals around to show me it's safe. I'm not sure why, but men scare me and I get extra scared when some are around, it really depends on the guy. My foster is working hard with me to come out of my shell, but it's still early. I want to find my family and learn what love truly is, but I need someone willing to be patient with me and help me to learn. I am ready to start my new life and show you how loving I can be.

Story
This 2-year-old Dachshund/Cocker mix is full of energy and personality! Weighing 24 pounds, Reuben is always ready for a game of fetch or tug of war with his beloved toys. Rueben also has a sweet and endearing habit of giving hugs, which is sure to melt your heart. He is affectionate, active, and a wonderful companion who is eager to bond closely with his new family! While still managing some anxiety, Rueben is adjusting well to indoor life. He is house-trained (only a few initial markings when he first arrived) and thrives on regular walks, preferring two long ones each day to burn off his energy. Rueben pulls a bit on the leash, but he’s shown great improvement with consistent training. A fenced yard would also give him the freedom to run and explore, which he’d love, but isn't necessary. While he’s not fully crate-trained, he settles down after a few barks when he's going to bed. Overall, Rueben is a great roommate who careful with your things and keeps you company! This sweet boy can be a little nervous with strangers, showing a touch of “stranger danger” behavior. However, once he understands they’re okay, he warms up quickly and becomes incredibly affectionate. Rueben loves staying close to his human, following them everywhere, and he does bark briefly if left alone in a room. He would do best in a home where someone is around most of the time.Rueben is friendly with neighbor dogs and would likely enjoy a doggy sibling. He hasn’t had experiences with cats or children yet, but his loving and active nature suggests he could adapt well with proper introductions. Rueben is scheduled for neutering and surgery for cherry eye on December 14 and will be ready for his forever home soon after. If you’re looking for a playful and loving pup with a big heart and endless affection to give, Rueben is ready to join your family! If you are interested in this dog, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $450. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and Bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchip implant (including registration). Adoption fees INCLUDE a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. Due to post-adoption services provided, we prefer to adopt within a 150-mile radius of the Twin Cities. However, we will consider up to 250 miles if the foster agrees to travel requirements and staff approval.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Hi there, I'm Trudy, a very timid and shy Cocker Spaniel. I'm only 2 years old and weigh about 20 pounds. Life has been a little overwhelming for me, so I'm still learning to feel safe and loved in a home. I'm a bit of an anxious girl, and loud noises or sudden movements can startle me. I tend to pace and pant both inside and outside, and I get especially scared around doors. I might freeze or even fear pee when someone tries to pick me up, but I'm slowly getting better with time and patience. When I'm in a new place, like the vet or a busy area, I might shake and feel very scared, so a calm and quiet environment is best for me. I'm not potty trained yet, but I'm working on it, and I'm also getting used to my crate, though I can be a bit restless. I recently started taking treats from my foster's hand, which is a big step for me! One thing you should know is that I absolutely love being around other dogs. They help me feel safe, and I rely on them to show me that everything is okay. That's why I need to be in a home with at least one other dog that is confident and social around people. I don't have any experience with leashes, so a fenced yard is required in my forever home. A fenced yard will also keep me safe as I am a flight risk. I'm very sensitive to loud noises, thunderstorms, and even some men, so I'd do best in a home without children and with a kind, patient person or family. Despite my fears, I have a lot of love to give. In the mornings, I do a little happy dance with my wagging stub, which is my special way of showing joy. I'm learning about home life, and with your love, patience, and understanding, I know I can become the sweet, loving companion you've been looking for. *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. Story
Hi! I'm from Missouri! From his temp foster: Bart is a sweet boy who spent his life in a puppy mill. He is showing improvement every day learning that the world around him is not so scary. He is learning the leash and loves to smell and take in the sights on our walks. He just started to play with squeaky toys and is trying to figure out fetch with the tennis ball. He has not had an accident in the house however, we have been pretty diligent taking him outside. Bart does not like to be left alone for long periods. He is not a huge fan of his kennel. He sleeps in our room in his kennel. He would do best with a family that has time to continue to work on his manners. He is scared of his reflection in the window/mirror and will need some help redirecting. With lots of love patience and cuddles Bart will be an amazing furry addition.
