Story
From Mako: Snuggles with my foster family are the best and I will be your shadow. I do well on a leash and don't mind walking around sniffing my surroundings. Finding a furever home would be pretty cool and I am ready for it. If you are wanting a calm, smart, cuddly pup that is working on house and crate training, good on a leash and will like all your people and pets, then I am your guy. Are you my new family?

Story
Grenas (born approx 11/8/21) is my first cockapoo and apparently, they’re very sweet dogs. Grenas is an absolute love. He is shy and his favorite place for his first week with me was under my sofa. However, no matter how timid he feels, his tail is always wagging. It took a bit for him to not pull away when I moved to pet him. He doesn’t like hands coming at him from above in a way that makes me think he may have been abused. A woman who works outside collects strays she notices, and that’s how he came to NDLB. We don’t know anything about his history. The day I took him, I also took a little chi mix foster, Lourdes. They had never met before, but they were instant friends and have become best pals. They play, wrestle, snuggle and sometimes sleep together. Grenas loved Lourdes right away, while it took some time before he was totally comfortable with me. For this reason, I think he would do best in a home with another dog. I think a dog friend makes him feel more secure. He is mostly potty trained. The few accidents he’s had happened because I didn’t let him out in time. My schedule can be random and I expect with a set schedule he would have no accidents. I don’t crate because it doesn’t work well in my home, but he would like a crate if he doesn’t have another place to make a ‘den.’ (Under the sofa is his safe place here, but my sofa is raised on legs and easy to get under.) He is awesome in the car. Just lays down in the back seat the whole ride. He loves treats and is food motivated, which makes training easier. He couldn’t care less about his kibble and he grazes his meals. He was terribly matted when I got him and had to be shaved. The groomer said one shoulder was so matted he had some bruising! He won’t let me put a jacket on him yet and so I haven’t walked him much, but he’s fine with the leash. He will bark sometimes at stuff going on outside and he will snap at Lourdes if she plays too rough, but otherwise, he has zero aggression. I’ve not seen him with kids, but I’m positive he would be fine. He shouldn’t be in a home with rambunctious kids as that would make him nervous. I would not describe him as a ‘hardy’ dog even if he did live outside for a while. Once he’s comfortable, he loves pets and a little wrestling, but is never clingy or demanding. He also does well with cats. He sleeps with me at least part of the night. He is not really a lap dog. He got out once, and it took a minute or two to get him back in, but he didn’t go anywhere. My backyard is fenced so he is let out back freely. The only issue anyone could have with Grenas is his shyness. For anyone not wanting a social butterfly type of dog, he’s a total prize. Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $525.00  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 7, 2026, 4:11 pm

Date of birth: 06/03/25 Weight: 16 lbs Dog friendly: Yes, requires companion dog in the home Cat friendly: Yes Kid friendly: Yes. Older/considerate will be best Potty trained: Yes, good on a schedule Crate trained: Does well in her crate **REQUIRED** Confident companion dog within the home & physical fence Hi, I’m Mystique — a beautiful chocolate brown Cocker Spaniel with a gentle heart and a soft, sweet soul. I can be a little shy at first while I take in new people and places, but once I feel safe, my playful and affectionate side really shines. I love toys, sniffing around the yard, and being close to my people and furry friends. I’ll need a fenced yard to explore and a confident dog buddy in the home to help me feel secure and show me the ropes. With a little patience and love, I’ll be the most devoted little companion you could ask for. Everyone who meets me falls in love… and I think you will too. 🐾💖 Adoption fee: $695

Age: Estimated DOB 5/8/25 Weight: 25 lbs Dog friendly: Yes, requires companion dog in the home Cat friendly: Unknown/not tested Kid friendly: Yes Potty trained: Very close! Crate trained: Yes ***Needs companion dog in home*** Hi, my name is Elroy! I’m an energizer puppy who goes and goes and goes! When I finally slow down, I love curling up in a cozy, safe spot—especially the corner behind my foster’s chair. I’m still learning how to be a puppy, so I sometimes need reminders about what is okay to nibble and what’s not. I absolutely love the snow, and I’m very smart too—I’ve already learned how to ring a bell when I need to go outside! Adoption Fee: $695

Story
Age: 7 years old Weight: 40 lbs. Dog friendly: Yes Cat friendly: unknown but likely fine Kid friendly: calmer & older kids ok Potty trained: yes Crate trained: no Patch is a sweet senior Cocker Spaniel who may have had a rough start in life, but he’s more than ready to spend his golden years exactly where he belongs — cuddled up on a cozy couch next to his favorite person. This handsome boy loves a good routine. His ideal morning? A quick potty break in the yard followed by a short walk to sniff the world and maybe chase a few leaves (one of his favorite hobbies!). Patch is living in a home for the very first time, and he’s doing an amazing job learning the ropes. He hasn’t had accidents and thrives on a consistent schedule. He’s still figuring out how to tell his people when he needs to go out, but with structure, he does great. Patch absolutely loves toys and enrichment activities — they make his little heart so happy! Because of that, he can be a bit protective of his treasures. He would do best in a home with older children or adults who understand how to respect his toys and personal space. Patch is a sensitive, anxious soul who bonds deeply with his people. He would thrive in a home with another calm dog companion or with someone who is home most of the time and can offer him the companionship he craves. He can be left alone for short periods, and with patience, he may be able to build up to longer stretches over time. This snuggle bug loves bedtime as much as playtime — he sleeps with his foster in bed, or sometimes in his dog bed right next to the human bed if he gets warm. He is not crate trained and shows signs of past trauma or strong discomfort with crates. One is always available for him if needed, but he prefers to sleep and relax freely. When he’s excited, Patch wiggles his whole butt and does the cutest little happy dance just for you. He loves pets, attention, and being close — truly happiest right next to his person on the couch. Patch is curious about car rides and new adventures. He’s still a little nervous in the car but is excited about the idea of exploring new places with someone he trusts. Adoption fee: $595

Story
Age: DOB 9/27/2025 Weight: 14.2 lbs. Dog friendly: yes Cat friendly: unknown Kid friendly: yes Potty trained: still working on it Crate trained: no   Meet Apollo, the adorably fluffy and floppy cocker spaniel puppy!  Apollo is a breeder release puppy about 4m old. He came to us with cherry eye and now he’s all fixed up.  This sweet guy had a pretty severe case of cherry eye so he does have a bit more droopy eyes, don’t worry it’s just cosmetic and doesn’t affect his vision.  Apollo is a sweet curious boy who thrives with gentle guidance and positive reinforcement. When it’s time to play Apollo loves to jump in and flop around, he loves a good sploot while laying down and I can assure you it is adorable.  Apollo isn’t as confident as some puppies so a good socialization class or dog friendly neighborhood would do wonders for him. To keep up with his potty training, Apollo would do best a fenced in yard, unless he has a dedicated adopter willing to help him gain more confidence on a leash.  He lives with another unrelated cocker spaniel puppy, an adult dog and 2 kids which he loves to snuggle up with. Apollo has been amazing during grooming and will often fall asleep during bath time.  Apollo is still a work in progress as all puppies are but if you give him a chance this sweet pup promises to give you all his love. Adoption Fee: $795
