Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Hi, I’m Spritz! I’m a 5-year-old Cocker Spaniel with a heart full of love and a little stubby tail that can’t stop wagging (actually, my whole butt gets in on the action!). I’m happiest when I’m by your side, soaking up cuddles and giving all my love. I’m an easy-going girl who rarely barks—and I’m a pro with crate training and potty training (as long as we stick to a schedule), and low maintenance overall. My favorite thing is being close to you—whether we’re relaxing on the couch or I’m getting those wonderful rubs I love so much. I’m just starting to learn how to play with toys, and I especially like it when you throw a ball for me. I’m eager to please and already know commands like “stay,” “come,” “go potty,” and my special word for “outside.” With a little patience and love, I’ll be the most loyal and loving companion you could ask for. I’d love a home with a fenced yard where I can explore safely since I’m still getting used to new things. Kids are great—I get along just fine with them. I don’t need another dog in the house, but I’d be happiest with humans who are around a lot to keep me company. If you’re looking for a sweet, quiet, low-maintenance cuddle buddy who’s ready to make your days brighter, I’m your girl. Let’s meet soon—I can’t wait to be part of your family! *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Please consider sponsoring an Underdog. Your donation will help us buy dog food and pay for medical costs. Age: Approximately11 months old Weight: 30 pounds Dog friendly: Yes Cat friendly: Yes Kid friendly: Older, considerate kids only Potty trained: Working on it Crate trained: Working on it  ** No shared walls ** Kingston Boy George has come a long way with the help of his foster brothers.  George is a 1 year old cocker spaniel who will probably grow up to be around 30-35 pounds.. He is a typical happy cocker spaniel and wants nothing more than to hang out with you or other dogs. If someone else is being pet, you can bet he's right there looking for a pet as well. He struggles a bit with "stranger danger" but once he has a bit of time to approach on his own terms, he typically warms up to everyone. He is a pretty vocal boy at sounds and sights, so you shouldn't have shared walls as his primary home.  He still struggles with being in a kennel, but he's slowly getting better at it (with the help of being next to his foster brother's kennels and a kong with frozen treats inside to sweeten the deal.)  He is working on his potty training. He is really great about going outside and doing his business (once he gets over the excitement of all the things in the yard), but he's not so good at telling anyone when he needs to go out. And he needs to go out IMMEDIATELY when he wakes up in the morning but he goes through the night no problem.  We've been trying to get him to ring the bells on the back door and he's just starting to get it. He knows "sit: and is working on "down". He really wants to jump up to greet you, but we're working on "off" to stop that behavior. He is still working with puppy teeth so he chews on things. We've gone through quite a few toys, a dog bed, and a few pillows, but he is also pretty good at giving up the thing he's chewing on as long as you approach calmly or he thinks it is a game and tries to play keep away.  There is evidence that he must have gotten in trouble in his earlier life because he sometimes cowers if you raise your voice or seem to be aggressive toward him (running at him quickly to get him to stop doing something for example.). He has met a couple of cats and they are really scary - but he also is curious about them. Right now, he keeps his distance and barks at them, but he would most likely do well with a confident resident cat with patience (from both the cat and the humans). He likes kids but he doesn't understand that their toys aren't his toys. He gets along great with other dogs. His older foster brother and he play a lot and he will stop when the resident dog is done playing and says he's done. He has had a few moments of possessiveness over things and food, but as he's gotten comfortable at his foster home he's getting less worried about those things. He does eat FAST so he would benefit from using a slow feeder so he doesn't get an upset stomach. We've started working on grooming and he's starting to get the hang of it, but he doesn't want to sit still for very long yet.  Cocker Spaniels do require regular haircuts and grooming to keep their hair manageable. Story
Hello my name is Austin, I'm from Missouri! From his previous foster: Austin is a sweet Cockapoo bursting with potential and charm! Though he's deaf and has a minor vision impairment, this little guy navigates the world like a pro. Trust us, his adorable face and disheveled hair will melt your heart! From the moment he arrived, any concerns about his disabilities vanished. Austin is a bundle of joy who loves to wag his cute little behind and explore! Daily visits to a fenced yard have been his playground, where he happily chases and wiggles around with my parents' dog. While a fenced area isn't a must, it would definitely make his tail wag even more as he follows his nose and sniffs around-something he truly enjoys! Austin also loves walks around the neighborhood. He may pull a bit on the leash, but he's improving, and he always takes a moment to assess new people, sitting calmly and waiting for reassurance. With a little training, he can definitely learn hand signals! Austin has a playful side, too! He loves playing with a ball, pouncing on it and chasing it around the room. He's a gentle soul-never aggressive-and he behaves perfectly in the car. His favorite toys are the tougher, rubber ones, as he tends to nibble off the appendages of the plush ones. After a day of fun, he enjoys curling up on the couch and taking cozy naps. At night, Austin sleeps in his kennel and does just fine when left alone for errands. If you're looking for a loyal companion who will fill your life with love and laughter, Austin is your guy! From the Vet: Hello! I am Austin and I wanted to let my future family know about my on-going medical care. I was seen at a TBB vet partner and it was determined that I have a genetic condition called retinal atrophy. This condition is stable at this time with out needing any special medicine/care so any future care for my eyes will be the responsibility of my adopters.

Story
Hello my name is Amy and I'm originally from Missouri. I may be deaf but my mom tells me I am the prettiest little girl with my blue eyes and curly ears! I LOVE to be by my people, either by their feet or on their lap. I like to get my zoomies out and then I am the best cuddler/napper. I love to sleep with my humans, usually right by their neck. The kennel is not my favorite but I’m getting used to it more and more. It also helps to see other dogs in the house in their kennels and they don’t complain, at all! Having another confident dog in the house is important for my mental, physical and emotional growth. I am learning how to do "all" things puppy. My leash training has been going well. I am just curious about everything so I make frequent stops. The resident dog has welcomed me and she is showing me the ropes. Sometimes she shows me her teeth when I get to be too much for her, I don't quite understand! House training is complete and I do really well on a schedule. Accidents are rare. My foster mom tells me I am bunny-like with as much as I jump around and land on all fours. I have managed to jump a baby gate and open a taller gate with my teeth. I am a very determined puppy who just wants to be with my people! I greet my family every morning and every time I see them with the best butt wiggle and tail wag. I'm also very food motivated and figured out how to jump up on the kitchen counter when there's food there. I'm pretty smart which helps with learning how to sit, touch, off, stop and come. I am not going to try to escape but since I'm deaf, I'm worried about what would happen if I ever got off leash. I'm wearing an Apple Air Tag for safety! Note: I was probably born deaf and the vet suspects my eye problem is congenital microphthalmia. Microphthalmia is an inherited eye disorder. No treatment or monitoring is required. Vision is probably impaired but you can't tell by my behavior!
