Story
MEET OREO! Breed: Cocker SpanielAge: 4 years oldWeight: 22 lbs Oreo is a beautiful and affectionate Cocker Spaniel who was surrendered with her seven adorable puppies, just 9 days old. This sweet girl is crate trained and house trained, making her a fantastic addition to any household. She walks well on a leash, which is a great bonus for those who love taking their dogs out for strolls! She won't be good for a tether system. Oreo's heart is as big as her love for people; she absolutely thrives on human companionship and adores belly rubs. She’s a cuddle bug who just wants to be close to her humans.  Sadly, Oreo has tested heartworm positive. She is currently undergoing heartworm treatment and will be happy and healthy in no time! Heartworm is not contagious to humans and providing heartworm prevention protects the health of other fellow canines! We as a rescue have successfully treated dozens of dogs with heartworm with the guidance of our trusted veterinary partners. Oreo would really like to find a foster-to-adopt home to that will love and care for her while Furever Tails covers the cost of care for her heartworm treatment. She will be scheduled to undergo a series of heartworm injections at one of our partner vets in Clinton Twp,  Chesterfield or Clawson, following the American Heartworm Society treatment protocol. The foster-to-adopt family will need to ensure that the treatment is followed as instructed by the vet, however Furever Tails Animal Rescue is responsible for the financial cost of the treatment. We offer a great support system when it comes to ensure the proper care of these animals and even assisting with getting the dog to their scheduled vet visits. Adoption is not finalized until the treatment is completed and the dogs is deemed medically healthy. Oreo will first complete a regimen of oral medication, then be scheduled for spay surgery (early January 2025). She will then receiver her first heartworm injection in late early February and again in March. The foster-to-adopt family will be responsible for ensuring that Oreo makes it to her scheduled appointments and follows the doctors orders, while Furever Tails covers the cost. Despite her current challenges, Oreo’s gentle spirit and loving nature shine through. She deserves a loving home where she can relax and enjoy life, especially after all she has been through. If you have room in your heart and home for this sweet girl, please consider adopting her once her puppies are ready for their new adventures! **If you’re interested in learning more about Oreo or want to help her on her journey to recovery, please apply! Together, we can give Oreo the second chance she deserves.** Oreo is:Current on Rabies and DistemperDewormedHeartworm Tested: PositiveReceiving Heartworm and Flea PreventionMicrochippedWill be spayed at one of our partner vet office and be treated for Heartworm. ADOPTION FEE: $350 IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS PET, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPROPRIATE APPLICATION FOUND ON OUR WEBSITE HTTP://FUREVERTAILS.COM. Unfortunately, at this time we are not currently adopting outside of the state of MI. MEET : Lemon Drop DOB: 10/09/2024  BREED: Cocker Spaniel mix GENDER: Female WEIGHT AS OF 11/16: 3lbs 14ozs COLOR: White/Black/Tan Lemon Drop, her 6 siblings(4 males and 3 females), and Momma(Oreo-cocker spaniel) were surrendered to the rescue because family weren't able to care for them. Daddy of this litter is unknown. Each puppy has their own unique personality, which is just starting to be revealed. They are all learning the world around them. They have been well socialized, making them well rounded family members. These puppies have not yet begun leash training. They will each need a patient family with experience in house training. Puppies are prone to chewing and will need a watchful eye to ensure that nothing is accidentally ingested or destroyed. Puppies need someone home more often than not, initially for house training and their continued socialization. They are looking for active families and plenty of positive reinforcement. Adopters should be prepared for sleepless nights during crate training. Tethering is not an ideal method for containment for these puppies. We are currently accepting applications for this litter of puppies and accepting a $50 non-refundable deposit to hold them until they are ready to go home at 8 weeks of age (12/3), this deposit goes towards the final adoption fee. Puppies will remain in foster-to-adopt status with their new families until their spay/neuter surgery has been completed at 6 months of age at one of our partner Veterinary offices (Chesterfield, Clinton Twp, Sterling Heights, Clawson, or Rochester), which is included in the adoption fee and is non-negotiable.
