Story
Hi, my name's Dodger. I'm an older Cocker Spaniel, and for a long time, I was living with a family that neglected me before dumping me on the streets of Los Angeles. I had no home, no one to care for me, and I was in so much pain. I was sick and covered in fleas, my mouth hurt from rotting teeth, and the bladder stones inside me were causing horrible bleeding. I just didn't have the strength to fight anymore. But then, Beagle Freedom Project found me! They rushed me to the vet where I got the urgent care I needed. The doctors performed a big surgery to remove huge bladder stones that were causing me to bleed internally, and they pulled out all my decayed teeth that had been infected for who knows how long. It's hard to believe, but I'm finally starting to feel a little better. Right now, I'm recovering in my foster home, where I feel safe and loved, but I still need a forever home where I can live out my golden years! Once I trust you, I'm such a friendly girl, and do not let my age fool you, I can be super silly and playful too! I promise to be the best companion ever if you open your home to me. Could you be my adopter? My location: LOS ANGELES, CA *Please note that third-party sites like PetFinder or Adopt-a-Pet may sometimes list multiple locations for the same animal. My correct and current location is the one listed directly above!* *Beagle Freedom Project facilitates out-of-state adoptions, provided the adopter is able to travel to the animal's current location for pickup.* If you are interested in adopting me, please fill out an adoption application at https://bfp.org/adopt/ Please email the Beagle Freedom Project Team with questions at: adopt@bfp.org. ABOUT BEAGLE FREEDOM PROJECT: Beagle Freedom Project is the world's leading organization for rescuing and rehoming animals used in experimental research. Story
Rocky is a sweet boy who loves to play with everyone and loves to cuddle on someone during all his naps. He is unique as he is a cocker spaniel/ Chinese Shar-Pei mix. He will grow midsize between 40-60 pounds. The Chinese shar- pei gives him the watch dog personality and the cocker spaniel gives him the cute look and smarts. This dog is amazing but unfortunately we are in a situation that makes it challenging to give full attention to this dog, especially during potty training. His beautiful brown silk coating is perfect to warm you up during the holidays and could be home in time for a Christmas surprise. I am committed to finding him a loving , responsible home for him and will only consider inquiries from people who can provide a safe and supportive environment.

We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay online until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peaks your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application (DOG:https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=44, CAT: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=41, EXOTICS: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=46) completely. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!).
