Story
CALLING ALL ‘COCKER SPANIEL’ LOVERS: Approx. 8 years old / Approx. 47 lbs. & needs to lose some weight Hi, I’m Flint! I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control and I’m thankful that they rescued me! I’ve had my challenges dealing with long term dry eyes and the occasional ear infection which can be typical of my breed, but now I’m ready to find a family and I’m really looking forward to that! I’m looking for an experienced “Cocker” family to take great care of me and to love! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I met some dogs at Mostly Mutts, and I wasn’t interested in playing with them, but I also didn’t show any aggression, so if you have a mellow dog at home, let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / No kids as I lived with kids for a short time, and it did not work out. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I’m a special guy who, as mentioned above, has had some challenges in my life and I struggle a bit with living in the busy shelter environment. My perfect home would be calm with folks that have a good Cocker Spaniel sensibility to our medical and behavioral needs. They would be happy with my company and not be looking for a big lap dog or a dog that wants a lot of physical love. I love hanging out with my people and getting some attention, but I’m not a dog that needs a lot and my trainer says I have good body language when I’d like to just chill. My eyes are very dry and painful, so I’m very sensitive around my head and eye area. My trainer and some of my favorite volunteers have had some success giving me eye drops, and I need them consistently to not be in pain. Sometimes I’m grumpy about getting them so I need a special person. If you’re interested in me, please inquire for lots more information. / My energy level is 3-5. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I’m in the Mostly Mutts University training program and have mastered the ‘sit’, ‘down’, ‘stay’, ‘come’ commands and I walk well on my leash. / I do well in my little room at Mostly Mutts. / My potty manners are good on the shelter schedule. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I like lounging about and taking naps. I like spending time with my trainer and favorite volunteers that sometimes take me on day trips. / At the shelter, it’s overstimulating so I’m not a fan of having my head touched or my eye drops, and I can be grumpy about it. I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, good medical care and training too. • MEDICAL: I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I’m taking 2 anti-anxiety meds due to shelter stress, so just ask about that. I’ve had some ear infections as is typical of a lot of Cocker Spaniels and I need ongoing eye drops a few times a day for my chronic dry eyes. So, if you’re a Cocker Spaniel loving family and know the breed well, let’s talk!! My adoption fee is $100.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga. July 5, 2024, 9:04 pm
